House of Cards: Chapter 26 (2014)
Brilliant Finale to drool for Season 3
So remember when we were all praising Breaking Bad for its brilliant writing? This season of the House of Cards deserves the same. Even though it did not match Breaking Bad's last 4 episodes in intensity (which is kind of unmatchable) the writing and the tension were brilliant, leaving us drooling for season 3.
What I love about this series is that it creates tension through a tactical journey. So often tension is made by flawed characters, doing stupid things that make me want to slap both the writers for producing such cheap garbage and then slap the actor for making me lose faith in humanity. This show keeps our heroes performing at the top of their game. The way Frank and his wife influence and manipulate people is very plausible, most of the time. And if you disagree with my last statement, that is because you've probably never been around or been friends with sociopaths, who will lie to your face at every opportunity they get, always with a perfect story to fix everything in their favor.
I will finish by saying that this was a great achievement in cinematography. Not only did this season give us perfectly executed story to follow, it gave as an insight into human nature. A real, significant and important insight. The House of Cards shows respect to all of us, for it's mere existence. We can watch it and appreciate that there are people who make beautiful things and more importantly, those people understand that some of us crave something genuine, something real, something that will make us think about the reality of the world, ourselves, and the conniving bastards around us. The House of Cards granted us that wish.

Last time I've seen this movie I was 9 years old
And WOW! When I was a kid I've probably seen this movie at least 10 times, if not more. For the longest time I didn't feel like watching this movie because I felt like I've already seen it too many times. But God Damn! I loved it when I was 9, and since then I've read plenty of books, and experienced too much of what life can offer. All that made this movie beyond incredible for me to describe in the true richness of emotions I felt.
First of all, I do think it's better than Nabokov's Lolita. And I am Russian, so trust me, it means a lot for me to say that. Lolita was incredible for the first half, but this movie kept at it the whole time. Have I mentioned it made me ball my eyes out too? Definitely a better love story than Lolita.
Then, there is Natalie Portman. For all these years I couldn't figure out why I thought she was the most beautiful woman in the world. Eight years later after watching this movie I've met a girl that looked exactly like her (Yes I'll clear this up, you creeps, she was the same age as me, 17). And I had no clue how a person could captivate me so much and for all these years after taking just one look at her.
Now, after watching this movie at the age of 25, I understand where that came from. And yes it did make it a little awkward to watch a young Natalie Portman and remember those feelings. Did make it easier to feel for Leon though.
To that I add, absolutely perfect writing, screenplay, acting and cinematography. Even if you've seen this movie before, do remember that it's been 20 years since it came out. Do yourself a favor and watch it again.
