I am writing this in hopes of countering one of the reviews I read that admitted they only watched one episode. Condemning a show on a single episode (especially one that later survived 4 seasons) is ridiculous and small minded.

If you are going to bad mouth a show... have the courtesy to watch 3 or 4 episodes at least. The pilot is often shot a year in advance and the actors have little background to work with. I try to give a show at least 5 or 6 episodes to find their groove before I start getting really critical. Thats why we have TIVO!!!!

A good portion of the cast went on to bigger and better things (Smallville and BSG!!!) so that tells you there was talent here. If you are watching it now... most likely on streaming or some other binge-able format ... you can fastforward some of the bits that dont work so well at first and will be able to give it a proper chance to develop in later episodes.

Cheers mate!

I dont know much about the comic itself but the show is very well done. I am guessing the budget wasnt huge but often isnt what makes it good. They arent throwing tons of money in to flashy effects, just enough to advance the story. Its about the characters and building on them as they learn who they are and what they can do.

I assumed it was going to be written towards kids based on the main characters being teens but they aren't talking down to the audience. I think this is almost on par with Daredevil or Luke Cage (both of which I think have set the bar for superhero shows).

Season 1 has laid the ground work and now that they know people like it I am hoping the producers will put more money and effort in to it so it can really shine. Looking forward to Season 2!!!!!!!!

Star Trek: Discovery: Choose Your Pain (2017)

I have fond memories of Harry Mudd from ST-TOS. Rainn Wilson is probably one of the better choices for the role and I am hard pressed to think of someone that would have been better. He delivers on the cowardly scoundrel as I remember and love

I have seen other reviews that don't like the direction they are going but this isn't the kinder gentler Captain Picard years. This is war and real war isn't pretty or moral, something they often forgot in the previous series.

That being said Star Trek was always meant to be hopeful for the future and this is missing that hope. That may also be why ST Enterprise didn't last as long as the others.
