Halo: Halo (2024)
Let's be honest
It was a much better episode than any other out of the entire series, great action, finally get to see the chief fight alot, which was great, Cortana is always great aswell and I know this is an original story but the choice of introducing the flood in that way was really moronic, it takes away the fear that was created during the game. The overwhelming fear, music, dread that comes with meeting the flood for the first time on Halo was amazing and it's been taken away from us.
The choice to kill the Arbiter, who was a friend and a foe really didn't make sense to me and ruins the episode. I'm glad they made it to Halo but the Arbiter really needed to be here for the story and Makee should have died and Chief should have found out who he was alone.
For season three I would love to see Soren leave the show completely, I really don't feel like his story line goes anywhere now and Kwan needs to really take a back seat but unfortunately due to how it ends, looks like she will become a central character and possibly an alternate Gravemind.
Conclusion a better episode but lacking the feel that watching a halo series should bring.
Raised by Wolves (2020)
Great sci fi until
Season one was genuinely a brilliant sci fi show, great cast, atmosphere, cinematography, themes and interesting story throughout. Would highly recommend
Season 2 was....... A mixed bag to say the least, interesting themes but the pay off doesn't come at all till the last episode, the cinematography takes a dive, the scenes shot in the day and then made to look dark really took me out of it. Campion was THE most annoying character this season, it's like the writers didn't know what to do with him? Unsure. Mother and Father was brilliant though, great role for both of them and was hoping for a season 3 to clear things up and expand the world building and the entity. Was hoping more from the AI but that's all I'll say.
All in all, watch season 1 for the world building, themes, story and mother and father, they are central to the show working. Both actors play it so well. Season 2 however is a mixed back and doesn't really get the pacing correct for me.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
Is this a parody ?
It's just bad.
Bad choice of actors
Terrible fighting
No characters at all are interesting
A billion dollars and you choose Lenny Henry as your lead ? Like what the hell
It looks amazing
Music is a direct copy of Jackson's
Camera work mirrors Jackson's in some scenes
Dull dialogue, really long uninteresting dialogue
Overly fantasised everything, skin tones, ears, hair, eyes all air brushed over way over the top
No depth and drama to any of the scenes, just created mellow drama to try and keep you interested because of how dull the plot is.
Stupid plot devices like having an orc under your floor boards, what even was that supposed to be? An introduction to a race we already know lots about but introduced in a way to purely bond two characters that we care nothing about and further the sword story, like the orc knew it was there
Really really cheap, feels so flat. The best I can offer is the sets look amazing but forced, lighting is brilliant and what ever lens they chose, looks great but apart from that it's a shallow, hollow attempt to bring a wonderful world to life. Sorry to everyone involved that all you had to work with was this script.
Cow (2021)
Unrelenting, hard to watch, reality
The documentary Cow is an eye opener, long takes, raw footage, very few words over the hour thirty, and the inevitable ending, leaves a bitter taste in your mouth and it's not the tannins.
