In Her Shoes (2005)
Tale Of Two Sisters
These two characters are so complete opposites. Rose is sort of frumpy, not very much into her looks, only shoes. While Maggie's good looks is about all she has going for her.
I could understand Rose being infuriated with Maggie when she sees her in bed with Jim (Rose's Boyfriend). Life at the time doesn't seem very fair to Rose but at least she isn't a half-wit that freeloads off of other people. Like Maggie.
While snooping for money thru her father's belongings, Maggie runs across old birthday cards addressed to her & to Rose from her grandmother Ella, whom she'd forgotten all about because it has been decades since hearing from her. With nowhere to go, Maggie decides to give Ella a call from the bus station.
Ella makes it clear to Maggie that she tried numerous times to keep in contact with her & her sister, their father didn't think it was a good idea though. Ella takes Maggie in, no questions asked. Although she quizzes Maggie on Rose's whereabouts, asking her to invite Rose to come visit them in Florida. Maggie isn't thrilled at the idea of inviting Rose to visit but she never clarifies this to Ella. She is ashamed of what she did to make Rose shut her out of her life.
Rose meanwhile has begun a relationship with Simon Stein, a colleague at the law firm they were both partners at. Rose doesn't discuss her relationship with her sister to Simon. Although Not having Maggie around to worry about is making Rose miserable. Simon can't understand what Rose is going thru thus he breaks off their engagement.
Ella finds Rose's address while doing her own snooping through Maggie's personal belongings. She then writes her a letter and sends her a plane ticket, inviting her to visit. Maggie is shocked that her father kept her grandmother apart from the family all these years.
Rose arrives at the "Home For Active Seniors" where Ella is, to be surprised that is where Maggie has been living for months!!
While Maggie has been helping at the Senior Group Home, an elderly man takes a liking to her & helps her over come her dyslexia.
Rose & Maggie are now back on friendly terms. Rose mentions that Simon dumped her. Maggie contacts Simon & asks him to come down & see Rose. Rose explains that she didn't know where Maggie was & it was ruining her. Now that Rose has settled things with Simon, she and Maggie can start acting like sisters again.
Rose & Simon plan to wed and Maggie has a surprise that will make everyone proud of the trouble-some sister.
Duran Duran: Live from London (2005)
Duran Duran Still Brings Magic
Seeing all five original members from Duran Duran back together, recording & performing those great songs from an era when music was still fun was like a dream come true for me. Being a teenager in the midst of the 1980's, very boy-crazy & very much into music, what can I say?? ...
I LOVED DURAN DURAN so much that it hurt.
Not until Mar of 2005 was I able to capture that excitement LIVE, although I'd seen D2 4 other times & The Power Station once, I finally saw the orig 5 boys & did those tears start streaming down my cheeks. Amazed at the great performance, they proved themselves as the unique entertainers that will forever be held in my memories reminding me of what I consider my childhood & those memories are Great!
Thank You John, Nick, Simon, Andy & Roger! I will always & forever be one of your greatest fans.

Just Like Heaven (2005)
Reese & Mark Deliver
Just Like Heaven brings laughter throughout. Elizabeth Masterson, a young Doctor is only interested in doing what she does best- Saving lives. Something that is impossible to do if she's no longer alive. 3 months in a coma from a terrible head on collision, 'Lizzie' isn't noticing anything different about her life. On her way back to her San Francisco Apt, she finds a man that she's never met living what he considers a simple but lonely life in her furnished apt. David Abbott-Landscape Architec will do just about anything to convince this annoying spirit that she's not wanted there except he's the only one who can see her. He visits with a friend who advises perhaps he should slow down on the brewskies. Exorcism's and Metaphysical Book Stores with slightly odd employees only add to David's frustration while trying to help the Smart-Alec presence find her way back, however find her way back where is the question. After coaching David in a restaurant to save someones life, she is able to back-track to the hospital where she lays closer to dying each day. Her sister and her 2 nieces are by her side, the little girls aren't exactly on their best behavior, but add to the silly charm this movie brings. This movie is rated PG-13, but in my opinion it's safe for almost all ages. David's 'Saucy' neighbor just brings more laughter to his character and proves that even spirits can get jealous. Elizabeth soon realizes she wants and needs more time to fulfill a void in her life- Her own happiness. A Ghostly Cute, funny & charming film. Reese is so likable and Mark becomes more delightful with every take. A+, The music is also excellent!
Garden State (2004)
Down To Earth And Genuine
Garden State is excellent. It's funny in a mature kind of way. The scene with the dog in the doctor's office is classic. It's not distasteful, just very funny because it could happen to anybody. Sam lights up the screen from the very beginning with her silly giggle while the dog is trying to take care of business on Andrew's leg. Clever, for instance Sam "swears" she thought Andrew was retarded... She's great!
Genuinely a very well written story, script along with an excellent cast for today's likings. Kudos Zach, you have a lot of talent that I hope takes you far in the film industry. Andrew Largeman is just a normal guy but isn't too sure about himself, as he's pretty aware of his surroundings. Natalie Portman is a gem and she is as adorable as ever. Peter Sarsgaard is always calm, cool & collected. Or just always stoned?
Garden State is definitely one of my favorites. I hope to see more of Zach Braff on the big screen.
