American Fiction (2023)
Literary Hollywood shuffle
However, this is not a literary type review. This movi was really hilarious. Leslie Uggams is definitely a delight to see, and she is as beautiful as ever. Sterling K. Brown has an amazing body, and I never realized how great it is until I saw this movie. Don't think this is a spoiler, but thanks for the shirtless scenes Mr. Brown; it was very much appreciated! OK, back to the review. American Fiction points to everyone's need to take a look at ourselves as a society, stereotypes about all people, and how we judge our own families. "...not being able to relate to other people is not a badge of honor."... One of my new favorite movie quotes.
Eat Wheaties! (2020)
One liners that should live forever!
This is a seriously underrated comedy. I laughed so hard at some of the one liners... they should be on a list of all time great movie quotes. "Can you deflower my virgin margarita? I'm gonna Davy Crockett that bitc..." I actually have no idea what that means but it was funny as all get out. Believe me there are some amazing one liners in this movie that I don't want to give away.
It's hard to believe that anyone could be that socially awkward unless you are or know one of those people that's that socially awkward. Life can spiral out of control in unpredictable ways. But in the end, even losers need love. And I think all of us have been in the loser category at some point in our lives, where we needed love and support to get out of a bad situation. Sometimes I wish my mother could still try to tuck me in...This movie is completely hilarious!!
Bridgerton (2020)
Sexy Fairytale
Sorry Jason Momoa you just got demoted to number two hero fantasy guy and replaced by Rege-Jean Page. This series is perfectly cast! Unless Simon is actually in love with Daphne in real life this is some pretty good damn acting because when was the last time a man looked at you like that and made your heart skip a beat.
Fairytales in our society are and always have been for girls and this is a grown up version for women. I personally liked that I got to see a lot more of Simon's body than Daphne's thank you Shonda appreciate you. I have no idea what Simon was licking off of that spoon, but...wait what was I talking about?
Okay, I had to take a moment now I'm back for the review.
I actually wanted to give this review eight stars but I had to counter all of those ridiculous one stars that are on this website. I took away two points for the quasi- rape scene because that was not cool. Daphne that was a big no no and no Bueno.
However, the costumes and the sets are amazing. People can suspend their disbelief for all kinds of historically inaccurate drivel in all types of genres that warn they're based on inspired events. There's an interracial cast, so what? It's sumptuous, it's beautiful it's wonderful to watch and a good time! It's what movies are meant to be...entertaining!! it has nothing to do with the realities of 1813 only with the imagination of people in 2020 and that's a good thing. Everything in the world we have started in someone's imagination. And I personally want an all inclusive future...And a world where Aquaman and Simon are both married to me. Just kidding honey you know you're the only man for me - -when I'm awake 😊
The Handmaid's Tale: The Word (2018)
A bird in hand is worth two in the bush!
Get out with the one daughter you have; reunite with your husband; get politically active; start an Underground Railroad; then get your other child out. Hannah seems to have a loving family but you don't know what will happen to Holly. Idiot and idiot writing. Call her Holly Nicole and raise her yourself.
BTW...
Hulu is making it hard for me to binge watch with all the same stupid repeating commercials.
But I digress... At first I found the story arc heart wrenchingly painful to watch, yet fascinating. But the lead actress seemed as dull as a box of rocks and I didn't enjoy the two million close ups of her expressionless face. Then Season 2 came along and also some mighty fine acting. However, I have now suffered enough and I can hardly wait to NOT watch Season 3. Starting......right....... now (I really wish I could find a way to make it take five minutes for fans of the show to read those three words)
