Cocaine Godmother (2017)
Disjointed, uninteresting, fabricated.
The story line of this movie lacks a complete substance that could have been easily avoided if they kept true to the actual facts. The fact the writers skewed to the side is a major reason why this movie failed for me, I have no idea why the writers fabricated so much in what I could only assume was an attempt to make it more interesting in their eyes. The narration was annoying and starts to grate away at the start only plunging this this film further down the drain. In the end its a drab poor boring story.
In the Shadow of the Moon (2019)
A good solid Movie. Predictable to a point.
I thought this was a really solid Movie. To me part of the plot twist was obvious within the first part of the movie. However despite this I thought it was still a great show. Despite people saying it was with political messages various other movies have social justice/social movement messages. The Predator for example another doom and gloom about climate change. Take this movie for what it is a good little crime/thriller. I like the way they tied it all in at the end except for the professor? Maybe an elaboration on how he knew what was going on at the 2015 mark would have been good.
Occupation (2018)
Showed promise but then it went belly up.
This movie had me interested for about the 1st 30 min. Sure I could see the Similarities to red dawn, (perhaps that is where Some of the inspiration for this more came from), And I was prepared to look past the ridiculous way in which the aliens technology permitted them to see, However I had to turn off after the movie apparently jumped a couple of months, Band the mango farmer, had suddenly turned military specialist and was training the group in military tactics. The dialouge was just plain awful to the point of making my skin crawl. I gave it 3 as they tried to do something different in Australian film.
American Horror Story: Apocalypse Then (2018)
Worst season of AHS to date
Personally I found this the worst season of AHS so far, and this finale episode cemented that. The whole episode seemed rushed, as if the writers themselves had become tired of it. I am still trying to figure out what was the point of the first couple of episodes dealing with the apocalypse and the survivors in the shelter, when they spent so many of the episodes dealing with Michaels rise. Why bother with these and instead just have the season dealing with Michaels rise? What was the point of the character development and putting us putting us through watching these survivors eat gelatinous cube Michael conducting interviews to see who is going to herald forth the new generation of mankind ( perhaps in hindsight it would have been better if interviews were conducted to see who could put forward a better plot), if in the end they were killed off? The end couple of episodes were rather lame and at the end of the day I really struggled to engage with this season. Here is hoping for a better one next year.
Boar (2017)
Makes Razorback look like a Academy Award winning master piece
This film makes the movie Razorback look like a academy award winning, and not just best picture, im talking clean sweep. Best picture, actor, actress screenplay you name it. The highlight of this movie is Nathan Jones rendition of Ice Ice Baby while driving in his utility. Speaking of Nathan Jones in my opinion was the stand out in this film, as I am now to believe that John Jarret struggles to play an effective intoxicated person. To say this movies script was written by a 5 year old is giving it far too much credit, the dialogue is not only awful but downright painful. The only question you are left asking at the end of the film is what happened to the rifle. I was tempered to go back and see if I could find out but decided it was not worth the mental anguish of watching and scene in this train wreck again.
The Strangers: Prey at Night (2018)
Give the movie a try Nothing original but a fun watch
Give the movie a try and decide for yourself. There is nothing original about this movie, nor is it edge of your seat terrifying. Originality goes out the door considering it is a sequel, but those who enjoyed the first one will more then likely enjoy this. The bad reviews don't surprise me pleasing everybody is near impossible however this movie is entertaining. I must admit a lot of my enjoyment came from the dynamic way in which the soundtrack incorporated within the movie, for me it added an interesting atmosphere to the title.
Berkshire County (2014)
Very poor effort
The only horror and crime about this movie is that it was ever made.
This movie is just plain awful. This movie borrows so many story lines from other good movies, such as Halloween, the strangers, the purge and when a stranger calls mixes it up and vomits it up into this poor showing. The acting is average and the dialogue is even worse. This is only trumped by plot holes and characters making highly unlikely decisions even (even for a horror movie).
Thirty minutes in and I watched the remainder of the movie on double speed only occasionally returning to normal speed at what I thought might be crucial moments only to speed up again. The ending of the movie tries to shock but fails miserably even in that. This movie is constantly horrible and I would recommend not wasting your time on it.
Fantastic Four (2015)
Horrible just plain horrible
This could possibly be one of the worst movies of 2015. It's poor reviews are completely justified and I would strongly advise giving this film a wide berth. As far as origin movies go this would be the worst. There are barely any high points, in this show to keep viewers interested. I would advise not blinking during the final moments of this film as you would miss what is suppose to be the final battle between the four protagonists and antagonist. It's as if they were making a movie and realized they had run out of money. Not only are the final parts of the film cringe worthy but the dialouge that accompanies Are just as horrid. There are no redeeming factors for this movie and I'm sure that it will go down as one of the big flops of 2015.
Poltergeist (2015)
best laid to rest
If we are talking about the resurrected, both those the movie pertains too and remake itself, it is a poor effort and should have been put to rest properly. I was really wanting to enjoy this movie as the original was great however halfway through it was still struggling to spike my interest. Apart from Kennedi Clements the acting from the main protagonists including Sam Rockwell felt a little forced which made it hard to relate and feel for the characters. The movie lacked polish and seemed rushed. As far as being a Horror it lacked any punch and wouldn't even frighten a three year old. In this case the original is the stand out of the two, it had way more depth substance and was far more enjoyable then the remake.
Gallipoli (2015)
Wide of the mark and off target
I was really looking forward to this release, however I found myself struggling through each episode, with the hope that the next episode would redeem the series, however the next episode was filled with the same drab dialogue and flat story line. The Drama was slow and the action scenes seemed to be over before they began. Frankly the story line seemed to struggle from episode to episode and the characters seemed stale, lacked substance and were hard to connect with and relate too. The show falls far from the mark when compared to others of its genre such as Anzacs (1985). To me it felt like a cheap and poorly written version of the thin red line.
