The Cleaner (2021)
I'm loving this. Unique and funny!
It took till the third episode for me to really get into this. Episodes, storylines and writing got smart and funny! I mean I guess it could be the medical Mary Jane, either way... I've laughed a lot. The storyline gets deeper, we learn more about our protagonist, who he is, glimpses of his past, as we get the meet different characters each week. By season two I was invested in Wicky's future and his happiness. No matter what happens with his friendships and love life, I will be happy to see him in new settings helping to solve the problems of his clients and sometimes solving a mystery. I think the show is well written and have enjoyed all the characters. Starting season 2 now. If I need to edit my review by the end, I will. But so far very easy to watch.
Lisa Frankenstein (2024)
So dumb but funny!
Lisa, Kathryn Newton was really good. Her comedic timing is spot on. My guess is she'll be one to watch in the future. She made me laugh. Was happy to see Cole Sprouse even though he didn't speak a word until the end. This movie is absolutely 100% goofy as hell but it made me laugh. I mean you pretty much know what you're in for with the title. This isn't an Oscar winner by any means but it was a decent way to spend a couple hours. I mean even her name. Lisa Swallows hahaha, that's just great. For once the stepsister wasn't a compete tool so that was nice. Loved all the 90's music and clothes too.
Fargo (2014)
Loved season 5
Man oh man this season had so many fabulous actors and I think they all did phenomenal jobs too. I enjoyed this last season more than the one before. It's a tall order keeping up with all the amazing characters and storylines I have no doubt. This one had it all as far as I'm concerned. Very likable people, ones you root for. And of course root for them to take out the bad guy(s) too. I was excited each week to see how the episode played out. Questions were answered and no plot holes that I can remember. Cinematography is cold and white as per usual but still beautiful. The score was good too. I have no complaints.
Letterkenny (2016)
Sad to see it go...
Even though the earlier seasons were better than the last few I still really enjoyed this show. It made me laugh many many times! I wish under the "Extras" they'd put all the outtakes. They're hilarious too! Glenn played his role absolutely perfectly. I really missed him this last season. We saw him a smidge and that was all. Stewart and Roald were fantastic. They had some of the best interactions with one another. Man they made me laugh! Reilly and Jonesy early years were great too. Just a perfect array of all kinds of characters. Even though the last season or two didn't garner as many laughs I'm still giving it a 10 because I enjoyed the series as a whole. Sad to see it go, but would be way sadder if it had the comedy gold it had early on. I'm sure I'll go back and watch a few seasons again.
Saltburn (2023)
Weird! But that's okay.
Okay so I thought most of the movie was odd some parts a little humorous. Like more of a dry dark whit. The parents were the funny ones. Some parts seemed unnecessary and strange(bathtub) or maybe as the story progressed we needed to know just how demented everyone is haha. Then there are some parts that you're like... What??? Like I thought 56 minutes in was going to be the weirdest part, ummm no I was wrong, at one hour 45 minutes in, yeah I'm gonna say that part takes the cake! Then the following scene, Alison Carver(Venetia) was amazing!! She did a fabulous job. Truthfully one of the reasons I didn't like this more was Barry Keoghan(Oliver) for me he just wasn't charming enough for his role. I don't know, just something never clicked with me. He just couldn't pull off the savviness his character should've had. Then we have the finale, the last few minutes actually changed how I felt. Great ending, they left nothing to the imagination. It's not going to be for everyone but if you like a character study that's got some crazy $hit in it, well this is probably for you.
Shining Vale (2022)
Took me a minute but then I got into it
Admittedly it took me a couple episodes to get the gist of this but once I did, I loved it. It's not in your face funny but the more it unfolded the funnier it was. They deliver their lines with ease and the dialogue is fantastic! Lots of cussing but that doesn't bother me at all. I have always loved Greg Kinnear no matter the role he is playing. Courteney Cox is great too. Mira Sorvino is stellar as always, as we're all the other recognizable faces. I did subtract a star for Gus Birney(Gaynor) as she's not my favorite. Maybe that will change in upcoming seasons. I really hope we get more of this show! I was excited when the second season came out, I was so afraid because it wasn't well known or widely watched they'd cancel it. Happy that wasn't the case. This show makes me laugh! It's just sooo out there, in a good way! Keep up the good work, I'll be here for all of it!
Shrapnel (2023)
Man, glad this one was free haha.
Okay so I'm all about a good B movie. And I'll be honest Jason Patrick has been a favorite since The Lost Boys. Man did I love that movie as a kid. I was really hoping this one was going to be good, mainly because I wanted JP to have another go with a decent film even a cheesy B film. Sadly this one missed the mark. I do think it could've been much better, with a little more story and some decent lines. We don't care at all about anyone because we don't know enough about them. They really didn't do much talking at all and when they did it was just straight cheesy haha. The cartel shoot like blind people, their aim was straight trash. And then they fold and cry like little girls...come on, no way!! It could've been a good movie because the premise, although it's been done before, is always a story worth telling. The best part of this whole fiasco is Cam Gigandet! Without a doubt, he's the reason for 3 stars and we didn't get nearly enough of him. They didn't even nail the ending. Even with a small budget there could've been more sadly, there wasn't and it just misses the mark over and over. But it was free so there's that!
Leo (2023)
Very cute movie. We enjoyed it.
It's rare these days to find any movie without tons of propaganda, virtue signaling, innuendos, political or otherwise, and all the mess that goes along with programming made by morons. Well this one is just cute, lively and funny. Nothing inappropriate hidden under the guise of a children's movie. This one had heart and some really good life lessons. There was singing and talking animals so they're off to a good start. Illustrations were great, writing was on point as well. Good music and I'd say extremely relatable to many kids. It's just as much fun for the adults to watch, with that signature Adam Sandler humor, whit and song writing abilities haha. You can sit down these holidays with the WHOLE family and enjoy this movie. I'm glad I watched it and feel sure we'll watch it again.
Clean (2021)
I liked this!!
I thought it was a really decent movie. It might've been slow in some places but the last 30 minutes make up for any lagging! The anticipation was perfectly timed, you're ready and know it's coming. It was a character study and we learned all we needed to about our protagonist. We know enough about his past to know what's motivating him now. It pushes the story forward while showing some flashbacks that answer the questions. Antagonist has been seen time and time again. Of course this is a story has been told and played out before but really, what hasn't?? It's not as stealth and freaking fantastic as John Wick but what is?? All in all it's a decent way to spend 2 hours. There's some awesome scenes and I think Adrian Brody did a great job! Some of his homemade weapons...yes please!
The Fall of the House of Usher (2023)
I loved it!
I loved it! I really did, I liked the characters I liked the storyline I liked the suspense and the guessing and the where is all this going to go. I loved the style in witch it was done, the flashbacks and I love all the bits of truth the things we know are happening but we ignore and just go on with our daily lives. I especially liked the ending, it wrapped everything up nicely and some good came out of some bad. I only had one question, and it could've been I missed a few minutes in previous episodes. Because this is a show you have to watch! One little sentence said in episode 1 can come back around to an open ended storyline, and help wrap it up. You can't miss anything. Like you need to watch and not text or do laundry haha. You will miss something. The writing is superb that way. I liked it for sure. Would recommend.
Our Flag Means Death (2022)
Loved season 1: Season 2 is off to an even better start!
Admittedly it took me a few episodes in season 1 to really get into it but once I did I was totally invested! It was so funny and so sweet and so weird and I'm here for it all. I was excited when I saw season 2 had started. Man did they bring it! You see where they left off and where they began anew. There's some great new characters along the way they manage to introduce a lot in just 3 episodes. Feelings are hurt, people are sad and confused. People are fighting mad and some mad with heartbreak. New lives ruins and old live ruined. Even with all that they manage to bring the comedy. Normally I wait to make reviews until a show is done but after the first 3 episodes of season 2 I had to come show my love. I know the way I want things to turn out, I know all the things I'm rooting for, but not sure I'll get my wish. My first wish would be to be able to binge season 2 haha. Well that ones squelched immediately. I will be anxiously awaiting each episode. So I think what I loved so much about the start of season 2 is watching the pirates still showing all the emotions Stede brought out in them. Trying to cope with new situations but keeping their hearts, minds and conversations open. They know now there's a different and better way. But it's not really the pirate way now is it? So of course some revert and some progress and some change completely. There's some interesting and fun new characters that blend perfectly with the ones we know well. They have reached the perfect balance of sweet and strange, happy and sad. I was hoping to wouldn't take all season for the lost souls and broken hearts find their peace. Well it didn't but not all may be happy reunions and some more broken hearts and revenge seekers are left on the open waters, so what happens from here on out...I'll certainly be happy to find out.
Reptile (2023)
Not bad at all!
I mean sure we've seen cops dramas play out for decades on television and movies. Some better than others, as always with everything. This one was pretty decent. Had several well known faces and they all did a fine job. Benicio Del Toro always delivers. I don't mind Justin Timberlake at all, he's usually decent. Michael Pitt is really good, I've always liked him. I think he's very underrated and he does not disappoint here. I enjoyed seeing Alicia's Silverstone too. It's funny, I wouldn't thought BDT was a good 15-20 years older than her but he's not. She'll always be the little girl in clueless I guess haha. There was a second line with a construction worker that didn't make much sense, not sure why they threw that in but other than that the story was easy to follow, cohesive and told the story it was supposed to tell.
Breaking Bad (2008)
Without a doubt the best series ever!!
This series is so much more than just television. It's a masterpiece! It's a look into humanity when desperation is the driving force. Regular people turning into who they're meant to be. Honestly it's a show I've watched many times through. The last 8 episodes of season 5 I have watched too many times to count. We're not here to talk about that. This is about some of the most stellar writing EVER. The situations in each episode are just so well done. The way they get out of the situations is nothing short of spectacular! They thought of everything...from watching wardrobes change with attitudes to lighting to camera shots to music. Right down to the last second of the series. So thoughtfully and wonderfully made I swear. And the drama, I mean damn, you'll be on the edge of your seat many times. They ended this series at the perfect time. Although I could've watched it for many more years. Because they didn't wait for it to get stale and stagnant you never have time to get bored. I read years ago that Jessie(Aaron Paul) wasn't supposed to live past a few episodes but the chemistry between him and Walter(Bryan Cranston) was so great they ended up keeping him. Wether this is true or not, I couldn't imagine it any other way! It's just perfection. I will say season 2 is when they flesh the characters out and it's the slowest season but it's still amazing. If you haven't seen this one, it's time! You will not be sorry.
Moving On (2022)
This isn't a comedy.
I love these two women together, especially since Grace and Frankie. I guess I was expecting their whit and humor to be in this movie too. I didn't read any reviews but I did watch a preview that didn't lend too much information, but looked funny and it is listed as a comedy. Well it's not funny. Maybe a line or two. The only time I chuckled out loud was the "cheese" line at the end. This movies centers around some dark things...assault, death, being gay, having to live in assisted living, long lost loves and murder. I'm all about an inappropriate comedy but this isn't one. If they'd have just touted it as a drama I wouldn't have been caught off guard. That said, the acting was good and lots of great actors it just wasn't for me.
Hypnotic (2023)
It's better than most people are saying.
I'm not really sure why everybody hates this so much. I read a few reviews that said there were huge plot holes, I didn't find that at all. There was only unanswered question for me and that is simply...were they born with it or are lots of people and it just an untapped brain function, that under the right circumstances can be honed? But everything from the opening scene after was answered! And it was answered very clearly. So either they didn't finish it or they weren't really watching, as they were watching. As far as the acting goes, I mean I've seen worse and I've seen better. But it was it wasn't such pitiful acting that I'd give a one star review for it. It really just centers around a several main characters and they all do a decent job. It's not an Emmy winner by any means but it's still a watchable movie. And if you are among the groups who believe the "government" tells us what they are doing, through channeling entertainment to program us, then I would say you'd like it even more. Because who's to say things like this aren't happening right now. Programming subjects for mass shootings comes to mind haha.
Harlan Coben's Shelter (2023)
I'm enjoying this!
I am thoroughly enjoying this series! Although there's only four episodes out, I am completely intrigued and will definitely stay with this until the end. I don't know what this was before, a book, a show, a movie or whatever I truly have no clue. I just started watching the series and got drawn in fairly quickly. Each episode uncovers a new secret or a new truth. Making connections with the characters. The casting is good. I only recognize a few faces, the adults, and don't know anything else these kids have been, but to me, they're doing a good job. I really like Spoons! It's fairly obvious that this has to deal with Jews, Nazis and the Holocaust. Past that I don't know. I have a few ideas but for now I will keep them to myself. It's easy to watch and moves at a quick pace. If they'd dropped the whole season I'd for sure be binging. If it ends with as strong a start as the beginning had, I think it will be really good! If need be, I'll come back and change my review but for now... I like it!
Telemarketers (2023)
I am HOOKED!!
Holy crap this is some interesting stuff. From the very first line to the end of the first episode I was hanging on every word! Pat is absolutely hilarious! I think what has drawn me to this is how human it all is and extremely dysfunctional. The people in these telemarketing centers are just absolutely entertaining I don't really know any other way to put it. The fact that these guys started making a documentary or investigating telemarketers almost 20 years ago is amazing! I for one am glad they stuck with it, I cannot wait to see what all they uncover and where this goes. And I will say in all honesty, I had a fraternal order police sticker on my car year after year after year hahahahha. So they absolutely got me! Truthfully I never thought about Fraternal Order of Police being a scam. I knew others were but I did trusted this. Because they said they were the actual police, so yeah I believed it! What scumbags! Living the highlife while others scrounge just in order to help families of fallen officers! You're a special kind of as$hole to come up with this! I haven't donated to anything in a very long time and I never answer my cell phone if I don't know who's calling. I ended up getting a different cell and number for my business, and I don't know who had that number before me but I get multiple text messages almost daily from people trying to scam, usually offering money and/or loans. So telemarketing just has a new look. Same scam, just not on a landline! There's 2 more episodes so I'll come change my review if need be. But so far, yeah this is very informative.
Destination Fear: Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary (2019)
Hakf the show is wasted....
They spend the first half of the show talking about where they're going and some sight seeing. Seriously they could do a quick intro with some backstory and personal account in oh I don't know, 5-7 minutes. These episodes are just way too long and so boring. Paranormal Caught on Camera is so much better. Mainly because a lot of them just randomly catch stuff. Like they're not "ghost hunting". These guys scream at the smallest thing. So far they haven't caught ONE convincing thing. No sounds, no shadows, no nothing. Just them talking and running and screaming and sight seeing. Oh but if they do "catch something" they just show that clip over and over but it's never convincing!! If anything showing "the evidence" over and over just makes it seem even-more fake, probably because their acting is atrocious hahaha!! How in the actual hell does this show have such a high rating. Once I saw Zak Baggins name as a producer or whatever, figured he paid for the ratings haha. Cause he suuuuckkkss! As does this show. And I'm bummed because I really do love shows like this.
Bones and All (2022)
I didn't hate it!
This wasn't the best movie I've seen but it's certainly not the worst! I kinda wanted a little more action and killing. What kind of killing, I didn't know. Just from the trailer you infer they like blood, but they also eat people food and walk around in daylight. So after watching the preview I knew I had to watch it plus it has Timothée Chalamet and I mean come on he's just pretty amazing! I've liked him in all his roles and Taylor Russell was great too! Some bit roles and cameos they all play important roles, even if they're on the screen just a few minutes. They all help to make the story whole and I believe they were cast very well! Not one bad person in this movie and I realize that's easy to say because there weren't that many but again the ones they picked... Spot on! This was really more of a love story, and a story of family. A story of forgiveness and sadness especially in coming to terms with who you are. But mostly, it's a love story., And a good one at that! It did drag a little here and there, but the scenery made up for it all. They had some beautiful lines and hard revelations. I don't know even as I write this ,having sat with the movie for a little while, I'm beginning to like it more and more! It's definitely one of those that leaves you thinking.
The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart (2023)
Aussies showing up and showing out.
Usually i'll wait until the end of a season or a show before I write a review but I decided to go ahead and write one about this and I will adjust as needed. This was a very strong start with the first three episodes! Doesn't take long before they pull you in that's for sure. I am very ready for all of the secrets to be revealed... I have a sneaky suspicion we are in for a lot. I'm enjoying the characters so far and I have no doubt they will flesh them out and we will see more of the past and into the future. I don't pretend to know if this will be an ongoing thing or just a limited series. If it's going to be something that continues for another season, I already think they will need to pick up the pace a little bit. Not that I'm not completely involved and I will certainly watch each episode as it comes out but they are dragging a little bit. That's the reason I didn't give 10 stars I believe there were a few things they could have pushed forward a little faster. But I'm not mad at it at all! Or bored. Great characters really good actors I'm excited to see where it goes. Oh, and I am loving Oggi and hope he's in for the entirety. We haven't seen a whole lot of him but everything I've seen of him I love!
Hijack (2023)
I throughly enjoyed this one!
This seven episode series was really good! It was very exciting with several twists and turns. I am always loving an Idris Elba show or movie, so I probably would've watched it anyway even if it wasn't amazing. But it was!! I liked all the characters and the part they played. We don't get any backstory but that's okay, I don't think it would've helped move the story along. We know from the title what this is about but I promise you, you do not know all there is to know about this one. It was smart and savvy in ways I didn't see coming. The writing was great. The situational drama that ensues is top notch and some scenes you're on the edge of your seat. Hard to center around one thing for 7 hours but they managed to pull it off without getting mundane. Any longer and we might've gotten bored but it was well paced and just long enough. So I say well done!
Twisted Metal (2023)
Don't play video games. So never knew this existed as anything else
I don't play video games. Even as a kid they gave me anxiety so not my thing at all. This show however is ABSOLUTELY TOTALLY my thing! I enjoyed this show so much. It was funny and interesting and as far as I'm concerned perfectly cast...right down to Will Arnet doing a voiceover. Music was great and nostalgic, for me anyway, some good oldies from high school and college. Hell yes. It was fast paced so no time to get bored. I enjoyed every single episode, they all had a purpose in moving the story forward. I mean we don't get any well fleshed out characters, only got a little history on John Doe, Quiet and Stone and even with them it's a pretty minute amount. Didn't matter, didn't really require much backstory, and the little we got was to show, why they are who they are, and that's all I needed. Sweet Tooth was the best! So we know that the majority of this is 100% unrealistic but so what! It is entertainment and it's not based on truth so really who gives a crap how unrealistic it is. I was entertained and that's why I watch TV, as an escape from everyday life, so I'm not mad at this show at all! I'm ready for season 2! I'd have binged another had it been available.
Justified: City Primeval (2023)
Edited at end of season. Give an 8 for Raylan but DAUGHTER SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG!!!! They should've told Timothy Olyphant not no, but a big fat HELL NO on his daughter!! Not only is she absolutely the most annoying thing I've seen in a while her freaking voice makes me want to kill myself. It's one of those sounds that enrages me like Styrofoam rubbing together or nails on a chalk board haha! She for sure didn't get her acting abilities from her father. Everything Timothy has been in I've enjoyed. He's even amazing in a comedy. Anyway, I'm liking the plot to City Primeval and all the other characters so far. The bad guy makes you hate him by episode 3 so he's great at his job. I'm going to stick with it to see where it goes, I'll just live with Vivian Olyphant and hope I never see her in anything again. Or at least until she grows up and out of that baby voice and takes some acting lessons.
By the end of the season I was completely drawn in more like the old days of justified! And I don't want to give anything away but the last 10 minutes... Oh hell yes! I hope it means what I think it means. Guess we'll have to wait and see. Added another star, because after like the third episode his daughter was gone and that made this show much more enjoyable for me. As you can tell from my review after just a couple of episodes. Clement Manziel was so easy to hate, like you love to hate him and he did an amazing job. I'll be looking for him in other things. Anyway, if you like Justified I think you would like this "reboot" and I really hope we have more...
Sound of Freedom (2023)
So heartbreaking and powerful
This is an absolute must see! Whether you have kids or not, makes no difference this movie is for everyone. If you have children, I suggest you have them watch with you because everybody needs to wake up to what is going on in this world! AN's children need to be very aware of their surrounding. I know it's scary, but better safe than sorry IMO. Im sad to know that in our country, of these United States, we are some of the worlds worst! Although this movie is absolutely heartbreaking, it also gives you a little bit of hope. Because we know God is with us, but also we know there are some really good people out there trying to make a change. Putting their lives on the line, putting their families in danger whether it be because their mom or dad is not coming home because they lay their life on the line to save somebody else's child, or they're made as cops/informants and families are killed. They are all heroes! I wondered as I was sitting in the theater watching this movie...in the two hours I was there I wondered how many children were trafficked or how many were sexually abused. It is absolutely heartbreaking and it is very real.
Baby Ruby (2022)
Not really sure why it had a low rating!
This movie. I mean dammmmm...THIS MOVIE! Okay so I didn't read any reviews, at all. I just noticed the low rating when I came to Leave my review and I was shocked! Any woman, and I mean any woman who has ever had a child has to relate to at least some small part of this. Albeit not everyone has postpartum and even if they do it's not necessarily as bad as hers. That being said this movie was magnificent! I mean absolutely amazing. I loved how her reflection or her shadow would break apart from her. I mean at least that's how I saw it. Like she is a woman who is splitting from herself. And she did an amazing job showing us what it is like for some women. She had it ALL together, was a perfectionist and a total type A control freak, she thought she could handle anything! Well, she couldn't and She quickly learned her baby was in control. Baby's needs come before our own, period. It's hard to eat or sleep or bathe because we're so busy tending to our babies and their needs. If that baby is colicky, oh man you do go insane. The crying alone is like lightening in our brains! A lot of women go through this. And it is so sad and so very true that we can't even talk about it,
Not even to each other. The mental health crisis in this nation is just that, a crisis. And postpartum depression is life-changing for some women and their husbands and their children. Mothers in this state have killed their babies, children and themselves. This movie portrays this excellently. Maybe some people were expecting a horror movie and that's why they rated it so low maybe it should have been listed as a psychological thriller, either way it's an outstanding movie, women know this is legit horror when it's happening to you!
