Sex Education (2019–2023)

Season two was so damn disappointing.
18 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
When I saw the first season a few days ago I was so incredibly excited. I loved it. Great characters, nice story, very fun and interesting all around. I was eagerly waiting for season two and I was so excited but unfortunately it turned out to be a huge disappointing. The beginning of the season (first 4 episodes or so) is so boring and slow paced. There is honestly very little to nothing happening. Even though Maeve and Otis discuss about it and agree to go on with the sex clinic we literally never get anything apart from just one scene if I remember correctly. That's it, we never see it again thanks to Otis' mum. It's a pity and I don't really get why they made that choice because I thought the sex clinic was really fun and entertaining. The way Maeve and Jackson's relationship ended is never adressed, it's literally like they are strangers this season, not even friends which is disappointing. The new character and Eric's romantic interest, Rahim looks very interesting, but except from a few things, we don't learn anything about him because for some reason he barely even speaks and he acts weird as hell, especially in the beginning when we don't know him and he's hitting on Eric, or atleast trying to. The funny part is that it works lol.

The first season left at a very sunspensful moment relating Maeve and Otis. Their relationship was very sweet in the first season and I think they did a great job in building it up but in the 2nd season they are basically giving us blue balls. Everyone is waiting for atleast SOMETHING to happen with Maeve and Otis but it never does, they just put it off and drag it out to eternity and beyond. They want to keep the tension up so they continually put their relationship and the big confession scene off but the only thing they achieved in doing that was miss the magical moment and make the audience grow tired and lose interest. It just became so stale and exhausting and it's disappointing because they really had something good. When you create a wave of excitement and tension you need to ride it at its highest or you'll lose the best moment. The showrunners wanted the wave to last longer so they continued to put it off all the time but the wave is gonna come down at some point either you like it or not and there's nothing you can do about it. So the best thing to do is just go ahead and ride it. I'm not saying they can't fix it in season 3 but it just feels like all the good moments from the first season are so far away now and they were for nothing. Otis' and Maeve's friendship was the main things that made this show so charming and likeable but the wrters thought it would be a good idea to COMPLETELY seperate them and barely have them in ANY scenes in the ENTIRE second season. Seriously?

On anothere note, the Ola storyline got so freaking tiring at some point and they just wouldn't let it go. Otis became an asshole and treated everyone like shit. Also, Otis loses his virginity to Ruby?? Why? I just don't understand. I really thought they were saving that for when he hooks up with Maeve but apparently not. And to top it all off the dragging out continues. That ending was just infuriating. I thought they were gonna leave it at a cliffhanger with Maeve listening the message but no, better put it off for another 2-3 seasons right? Ughhh... It just feels like there is no point anymore. Keep in mind that this is high school. They are teenagers that like each other, not Noah and Allie from The Notebook. Their relationship isn't at that level. It could be... and maybe then this would all be more understandable but the writers seem to be treating this relationship in such manner when they shouldn't. This should be more spontaneous and in the moment, at least that's my opinion...

I just really cannot understand some of their choices for the 2nd season. My main problem with it was that it was too passive, not much was happening, it was slow paced and boring. I kept seeing missed opportunities everywhere and I think they should have more deep character moments sometimes. The first season was something like a 8.5-9/10 while the second one was like a 3-4/10. It seemed to me like they ran out of ideas and inspiration which is very sad and disappointing.

The Holiday (2006)

Such a good movie
11 November 2019
This is what it's all about. This is such a nice, heartwarming, emotional movie.

I absolutely love this movie. So much stuff to love about it. I serioualy cannot understand why it has such a low rating here on IMDb.

I overall, loved the message and the theme of this movie and probably even more importantly the execution of it and the way it was delivered. This movie is well made. It has great, complicated, 3-dimensional characters, who actually have a background and emotions, problems, feelings, insecutities, needs...etc. etc. etc. All this maeks them feel real and relatable and that results into us, the audience, to become invested and care, instead of counting down the minutes until the movie ends. This is such a basic concept in order for a movie to be succesful but ironically you rarely find it these days, especially in romantic comedies.

As far as the story goes there are a few very pleasant surprises. When I first watched this movie I knew nothing about it. I hadn't seen any trailers or knew who plays in it so (if you've seen it) you probably know what I'm referring to. But anyway, the movie has a beginning, middle and end. And the journey is very enjoyable to watch. It starts... ok with not much going on and you kinda know where it's going but then the story starts to unravel and it slowldy gets bigger and bigger and it gets better as you see more while more characters enter the story.

The cast is amazing as you'd expect from actors like Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jude Law and Jack Black. Likeable and charming they all do a great job and they convey emotion so masterfully and with such heart.

The supporting characters were amazing as well. The supporting cast is very important as they make the world feel real, they can literally make or break such movies and the actors who portrayed them were great as well.

Like I said, overall, I loved the message and the theme of the movie. It's essentially a story about 4 (2?) troubled adults who are lonely. They seek to find love, find themselves and find happiness. Something which I think the entire world can identify and relate with. And what I liked about it is that the movie and the characters don't pretend like love is something stupid or cheesy or childish. They don't play it tough and strong, they don't deny or try to block off their feelings in order not to open up and be vulnerable (Just like the while of society does today unfortunately). They ARE vulnerable and open and in love. These people need love and affection in their lives and the journey through which they find it in this movie I thought was very charming and heartwarming.

This is a well thought out and put together movie with heart. Perfect for a cozy Christmas movie night if you ask me. Highly recommended if you like romantic comedies.

Surprisingly fun and enjoyable! A lot better than the previous one.

Warning: Spoilers
This movie way quite an enjoyable time!

My expectations were pretty low to be honest, especially having seen the first one which I can't say I liked very much, but it proved me wrong. This was a fun watch.

Chris Hemsworth, Jessica Chastain, Emily Blunt, Charlize Theron, obviously the cast for this movie is stacked and they great as you'd expect. Honorable mention to the dwarves. I loved them lol, there were some moments which I was laughing like an idiot :D.

To get to the point though, I liked the story and the plot overall, or should I say the execution and the delivery of it. Nothing amazing or groundbreaking, but as I always say, it really doesn't have to be. If you like and you've watched a lot of schience-fiction, action, adventure and especially fairytail movies such as this one then you already know what to expect. You've pretty much seen every possible plot twist or storyline. In these kinds of movies there aren't many things that will surprise you and if you go into such a movie expecting something never seen before then you're naive imo. The name of the game with these types of movies is execution, delivery and characters. And that is what I liked about this movie. I thought the "love makes you weak" theme was cheesy and stupid but ultimately I liked how they developed it through the characters' story arcs.

I really felt for Freya in the end :'( and I thought it was pretty sad how at the end it turned out that she did care about the huntsmen and huntwomen which she kept calling "her children" despite her trying to be emotionless and never show them any affection because she believed it was a weakness. In the end however when she realiazed her sister was behind everything she tried to protect them from her. The saddest thing though is that they never got to know and she died protecting them.

Overall nice movie, should be a very good time with family at a Saturday night.

Merlin (2008–2012)
5/10
Why is this show so retarded at times, it's so damn infuriating, I just can't..

Warning: Spoilers
Man this show was a promising idea, really it could've been a 10/10 show but the execution is just plain stupid. It has good soundtrack, good casting although the acting I would say is pretty mediocre. It has good ideas and it's interesting seeing the famous story of Camelot and Merlin being developed and fleshed out throughout the episodes. I love those ancient/mythological, epic, fantasy shows and so I saw this but man as much as I wanted to turn a blind eye to all the plot holes and stupid scenes I just couldn't. Some of them made me laugh out loud and others just made me actually furious cause they are trying to turn the plot in the direction they want but they are doing it in a stupid manner that makes 0 sense. At least make it credible.

Btw I love the comedic moments of the series like old Merlin and Merlin/Arthur. Also I would like some characters to be a lot more developed. The main antagonist Morgana is laughable tbh. No real reason or motive for what she's doing or what caused her to become like that. In a matter of a few episodes she just became evil out of the blue lol. All in all not too much thought put into it tbh which is sad cause it could've been a great show.
