The Exorcist: Believer (2023)
You know this is bad if I'm writing a review!
What was this? I mean reading other reviews I kind of had no hopes. However, I watched the original Exorcist (1973) just prior to watching this debacle 50 years later.
What I did like... Was probably about the first 40 minutes or so with the setup of the characters and the girls disappearing. Yada yada yada. Then the next segment of them getting all weird and demotic and stuff that was slightly entertaining.
And then the exorcism.
Let it be known that I totally adore Ann Dowd and everything she does, but I question why she even chose to make the film.
I understand why Ellen Burstyn did it to make the money and to donate it, since her role was really to use her name to promote them film. Can we even call it a film? Really?
Back to the exorcism... What a joke!
Yes, there are a few if you want to call them, Easter eggs to the 1973 original, if you can find them. Don't look too hard.
One of the most significant connections to the original film, was the makeup artistry who worked on the two young girls.
And the sound was off too! I have a good sound system, it's not the best but it didn't sound right.
Anyway, another 2 hours of my life lost to watching this stupid movie.
2:22 (2017)
Worth the watch!
I am always a sucker for time, science type movies with timelines crossing.
This was reminiscent of 'Dead Again', which is another favorite of mine.
I don't know, maybe the negative reviews or the low ratings are people that just aren't open-minded to the universe and cosmos and the Stars?
I really enjoyed the movie and like I said if you have ever seen 'Dead Again' or movies of that genre type you'll definitely enjoy this!
Dark Places, Deadly Illusions (2021)
A star for Davis, a star for Mulroney
That's the only stars I will give!
Wrote this review as I watched this, and after reading all the horrible reviews.
Which only made me curious. Oddly I am attracted to horrible movies like a moth to a flame.
Spoilers:
And I gotta say, that scene at the pool about 40 minutes or so in, well sorry but I don't know who you are but putting on a wet bathing suit is trying enough, putting on a wet two piece must be a little easier, however never have I ever or would I ever or whatever woman I ever know ever put on somebody else's wet two piece that just totally grossed me out.
And who wears big bows at the end of their braid anymore?
So many plot holes, horrific acting,
And the ending?
Uh, no. Just no.
Believe all the awful review there really is no point to this movie.
Fantasy Island (2020)
Rubbish
I was excited to see this, and curious as well. Six bucks and 2 hours I will never get back.
The acting was sad, the story was stupid and there are other things to watch. Don't waste your time.
Hangman (2017)
A nice play on a kids game
Don't believe all the negative reviews, it wasn't all that bad!
This film was a good ride, I enjoy a good serial killer movie and this had me going to the end. Pacino is always worth watching, so settle in and give this one a chance!
Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)
Keep your expectations low (no spoilers here)
As an avid Terminator fan, and having watched the entire series last weekend, I was intrigued to see what they were going to do with Dark Fate.
I didn't read any reviews, and I am glad they didn't spoil it for me so I watched with an open mind.
First I will say, this was a fun ride! Like the Halloween franchise, the Terminator franchise takes liberties with the story & time sequence. In T#3, they wrote that Sarah Connor died, then T#5 we have a young Sarah Conner played by Emilia Clarke, who did an awesome job in that role.
It was great to see Linda Hamilton back in her role, and of course Arnold.
Overall, if you are a Terminator fan, you will hopefully enjoy the film, just don't set your expectations too high.
There are similarities from T#1&2, which will either annoy you or provide 'a-ha' moments.
That's the best I can reveal without giving away too much!
Take a chance with an open mind.
No Escape Room (2018)
85 minutes of stupid
You read the reviews that said don't waste your time, so did I. however I'm one of those crazy freaks that decides I want to watch a stupid movie just to see what happens. What can I say curiosity gets my cat. Anyway yes this is a waste of time acting was horrible the story was lame the suspense was meh and the end was even more stupid it's just an endless time loop.

Breaking the Rules (1992)
Truly touching!
I just watched this movie on a lazy snowy Sunday and have to say that I think it was a delight to watch! It leaves you with that feel good feeling. The dynamics of the three friends and their journey demonstrates that life is worth living and you have to enjoy it to the hilt! There were some twists in it that I totally did not expect. I laughed, cried and rolled my eyes watching it - Jason Bateman was stunning, C. Thomas Howell was a joy to watch and Jonathan Silverman gave a fantastic performance! Annie Potts is a delightful addition to round out the cast. The soundtrack has some awesome tunes that just "go" with the film. Oh and the circa 1990 clothes and hairstyles will bring you back to a simpler time, before the internet and cell phones.
Rent it, Netflix it, DVR it - but DO watch this movie!
