Enjoyable counter to missing without a trace
2 November 2023
This series is a modern style counter to the brilliant classic show missing without a trace.

The lead actress is wonderful here. Real and believable, tragic background and a zealous commitment. She's batman. Overall it's cute and kitschy. They have to include elements of trauma,The show is on citytv so struggle to see why so many reviews are negative. This is not Scorsese. Anyhow excited to see more. Only watched the first 4 episodes so far. But it's promising with hinted overall season plot being suitably big. It is a light watch, no heavy contemplative viewing attention required. Decent pacing episodic feel good content.

The show has a nifty premise, journalist writing obituaries sees ghosts. Lead is well portrayed by Gina Rodriguez and the ensemble after episode 2 is comfortably diverse and work well together. Liked it quite a lot so far. Direct comedy is a bit mid but the situational is great. These are adults navigating life and finding themselves, very fun to watch. Best part is of course Cece from New Girl. In terms of its ghost of the week format i do not see much potential for the story line to change so doubt if it will be a mutli season show. The characters have a broad life and there is room for so much more than the theme to be shown. Gina has a fun delivery in the lead and is so relatable for someone adjusting to a new life like her ghost friends.

The first episode despite some getting there acting was full of intrigue and scifi mystery. This is a fair entry into depicting a sciencyfantasy world.i must say the other reviewers are immediately comparing it to star trek but when star trek first came out there no star trek to compare against. its has room to improve mostly in the fx department. acting is okay they look mostly inexperience/ but the mystery behind the first episode if sufficiently unique to draw me in for further episodes. In sci fi a critical defining aspect is the creativity in story and there is plenty here. good luck Pandora.

Warning: Spoilers
Thoroughly enjoyed the first episode. Nico pizzolato ol boy has a talent. Like how the show has such stark moments of darkness. Like detective ani dealing with her hedonist? sister and dad. Heavy drinking and gambling. I know its early but i love when writers go for vindicating vices with elaborate crime solving, bravery and slick detective skills. The addition of an extra main character is also enjoyable.did not expect such a fluid joint with the expectation of more to follow. A bit amused by all the rave for farrell, i like his acting already but the true detective role has been scant in variety so far. he is deep and brooding most of the time. Look forward to more. i can definitely recommend and since its a fresh story anyone asking if they can start from here will be fine if they do.

Great show,why i liked it

As a science fiction TV show, it strongly evokes this theme by how well the story is portrayed as seen in one episode. I hope it continues such interesting development. It showed many interesting A.I. questions, particularly showing a broad emotionality.Anita and her interest in having a child is so deep i am more than amused. It was shown exactly at the time the interview people were talking about synths not being able to reproduce. intriguing so far. The One synth Fred who is back in the factory, does he wake up? Like Anita getting back at the sour/vindictive/bitter/resentful laura. I wonder what her ill feeling is based on? did her mother run away with a synth? why is she hiding her photo album? Also like the acting behind Mathilda's angsty rebellion, feeling outsmarted and direction-less by the very nature of synths and taking it out on Anita. wowser. At least three synths experienced unnecessary human cruelty,it begs the question can humans ever be ungainfully nice.... It also does a brilliant task of questioning our own humanity and understanding consciousness. cray of the backboard.

I really dislike all the soothsayers saying this isn't as good as the original Swedish program from just watching one episode....right that is so super accessible,i pity myself as an uncultured cretin. give it a shot, its more than decent. Channel4 does not air garbage. and it also has pretty cool music. i wish my fav youtube TV series music sites were not flagged for copyright. i just hope they show up on the vibe guide.
