I Am Legend (2007)
I liked Sam the dog
SAM really stole the show. The Zombies looked like they came from another movie in the back lot. The Zombies were more realistic than the idea that Will Smith was a scientist. What virologist carries an automatic weapon? The story was lame and disjointed. We are sorry we watched it.
Flyboys (2006)
A good movie with unique air battle scenes and good acting.
I saw this movie years ago and forgot it. I saw it again yesterday and thought it was really good glimpse of air war in that era. The casting was very good. The airplanes and uniforms seemed authentic. I especially liked the French captains acting.
Its the kind of movie you could watch again without feeling you are wasting time.
Oyunbozan (2016)
disappointed
The acting and cast selection was great. It has a very good story line.
For some reason the production was cut short and an epilogue was done.
Many episodes were omitted leaving the audience bewildered.
Why they did this is beyond us? We have watched mant Turkish TV series and never disappointed. This ending was a flop.
Karppi (2018)
STICK WITH IT
We are in the middle of this series and follow it very closely.
We are perflexed as to where it is going but enjoy the ride.
We are not fixated on perfection because most stories have unexplained events and results in them.
We like the female detective and her perseverence and bravADO.
Bat*21 (1988)
not my idea of military responsibility or detail
Here is an overage person playing an overage person in a mission he should not have been on. it took this man was a vip in the military and was shot down in enemy territory and he had zippo combat or survival experience.what military regime would allow it in the firsty place and not bring him back asap.
they sent a dedicated dimbulb in anny Glover to save a nitwit lt colonel.
Its amazing to me they let this movie out of the studio!!!.
Gene and Danny should have done some other movie...true or not. Awful stuff!!!
Enemy at the Door (1978)
a very different perspective of ww2
The sacrifice the people of Guernsey made was to tolerate the rules and discipline of the German SS. If it werent for the German invasion Guenrsey
would have been out of the War. There would have been some sacrifices but not at the level the Germans created. One questions what the Germans gained by invading the island in the first place.
All the interaction between people on the island caused by the constant surveillance of the Germans is interesting to see develop. The botched raid by the British soldiers reminds me of Entebbe which is a new movie right now.
It was clear the the British military forgot how to fight a war: eg Dunkirk.
These civilian people were fighting back in their own way and the Germans could do little to stop them. They resisted the Germans in a way only the British could.
El barco (2011)
This series missed a lot of editing
Almost every episode has death defying, cliff hanging disasters on the ship or in the ocean. When a pause occurs there is frequently a segue to sexual encounters or high school squabbles between boyfriend and girlfriend.
40 youngsters who are adult (acting adolescent)on a sea going vessel with little or no supervision or a real sailor seasoned crew sounds a little off kilter.
The story is vastly convoluted and doesnt make sense.
Velvet (2013)
Excellent series
The series is well conceived. The acting is convincing and executed properly.
The cast selection is impeccable.
The story is easy to identify with and moves along at a nice pace.
Its very easy to identify with these characters who portray people we have known throughout our lives.
We love the background music which could be of that era in America.
Even though its Spanish speaking and takes place in Spain the mixture of our music is a perfect blend.
It fits perfectly because all those emotions common to all people are evoked.
Michael Kohlhaas (2013)
cryptic
I had to search to find a summary for this movie and the word cryptic says it all.
Mainly the story has a aim of getting back two horses in good shape.
Certainly not something to start a war over!!!! A lawyer or such tells Kohlhaas that the court was corrupt after he made a legitimate complaint for redress of the horses and mutilation of his friend.
There was a aristocratic bias that changed owing to the death of an elder nobleman at the beginning.
The princess and baron were in cahoots and both were criminals.
Both should have been exiled or put in prison for what they did to Kohlhaas.
The initial incident at the bridge was hard to understand.
Why didn't Kohlhaas pay the permit fee outright instead of using the horses for collateral?? Were they so sophisticated that money was considered an affront?? The Priest at the end convinces Kohlhaas not to go forward with his revolt and that was a huge mistake.
His wife gets murdered for which there is no retribution or explanation.
His horses nearly are murdered as well.
His best friend is killed in battle after being mutilated by the barons vicious dogs.
The entire population was up in arms supporting Kohlhass.
This type of loyalty or support doesn't just happen.
They all had an ax to grind.
Its inexplicable why Kohlhaas desisted in his attempt to overthrow the ruling class there.
He certainly had plenty of reason to die in the attempt.
It doesn't add up that he should die at the behest of two criminals to play by someone else's crooked rules.
All the pieces do not fit.
However it is a well acted, photographed and intriguing movie.
Elvis & Nixon (2016)
A film that should be redone
Casting in a movie like this is supremely important because the content is
not favorable or intriguing and as a matter of fact bizarre.
It only holds value in that its a true story with two famous people involved.
Shannon does a terrible job attempting and failing to portray Elvis as he might have been at the time. His moves facially and bodily are not consistent with Elvis moves. His speech mannerisms suffer greatly as well.
Shannon is a very good actor but he should have not taken the part.
Did he ever see Elvis in any of his portrayals?
Elvis at 35 years old he was an extremely handsome and a vibrant person.
Shannon looks lots older and could not begin to look like Elvis.
Take a look at the 68 comeback special to see what he looked like then
check out Shannon and his looks.
Sorry ...we are Elvis fans forever and this portrayal was horrible.
Spacey as Nixon was also poor. Its not his fault. He captured very
little of what Nixon looked or sounded like.
With Shannon its the same but of the two Spacey was better.
We gave them all the benefit of the doubt but the next day we felt the
movie is very flawed.
Its a shame that we as fans lost the opportunity to enjoy a performance that would have more celebrated Elvis Life instead of demeaning it.
Into the Wild (2007)
A haunting movie
We have to understand that this uninitiated young man bought a one way ticket into an unlivable geography.
Was it to commune with Nature?
Was it to prove he could do it?
He graduated a four year top rated college with honors but had little
knowledge of how to survive in the wild.
He was warned several times and he ignored the warnings.
His principle purpose was to be in the Wild alone...yet he admonished
Holbrook for not being with people.
He(Holbrook) was living the life of a monk yet Alexander was entering that same life.Holbrook was bright and yet he didn't respond to the
obvious hypocrisy.
To me he wasn't communing with Nature at all but experiencing a new type of living
that was scary and rightfully so.
He shouldn't have been that naive and needed more mature guidance.
He didn't seek it because he was too self absorbed.
He put himself into a precarious situation and the worst possible outcome occurred.
How about taking with him a antidote for food poisoning?
The Clock (1945)
Doesn't come off the way it should
This was a low budget film which had relevance in 1945.
It is not the magical love story it presumes to be but a travelogue
of NYC.
The actors do not appear to be two young people falling in love as it is supposed to appear to be.
It is true they are young people but they don't come off as naive or immature.
There is no depth of story or plot to attract interest.
The movie didn't make that much money but it wasn't a flop either.
These two actors could have done better in a another movie with an intriguing plot.
Canopy (2013)
it it what it is
This film is a candid excerpt into what it must have been like to be a pilot shot down in enemy territory.
Its unusual because there is no script and no more than two actors of any consequence. The acting was superb.
It was superbly done and photographed beautifully.
Obviously the director had other ideas in mind when he introduced the flashbacks and Billie Holiday song. It was a masterstroke albeit reminiscent of an American not an Australian.
The acting of the Chinese soldier was excellent.
It can be as simple as what the director gave us.
It gave a sense of realness not the usual hype and phoney Hollywood nonsense.
All Is Lost (2013)
don't understand certain events
This boat had no backup for the bilge pump except a hard wired one.
All he had was a mechanical hand operated pump.
it was inefficient.
He had several large batteries and no generator to charge them and electrical system could not be energized.
Somewhere there must be a portable bilge pump directly connected to the batteries.
a bypass?
No back up radio or black box signal transmitter????
He had no solid fiberglass panels or plywood to patch the hull breech???
No solar devices to power anything and no way to distill sea water and no back up water.
Cant believe he would be alone at sea....
No GPS really?????
The mast should be telescoping.
Would there be a storm at sea????
If there were no hull breech this man was doomed at the first storm anyway. A ship of this size would not survive a storm nor that ridiculous life raft.
In spite of all of my negative comments I love this movie and I thought Redford was excellent in it and recommend it to anyone.
