The Shawshank Redemption (1994)

Just marvelous

Probably the best movie ever made. I've seen the Shawshank redemption maybe 20 times over the years and it still moves me each time. This is a timeless masterpiece where everything just comes together in to perfection -the score, the acting, the editing, the directing, the source material and adaptation. If you by some fluke should have missed this you have to allow yourself this amazing experience. This is a once in a lifetime movie where everything just comes together. With this and the green mile Frank Darabont made two of historys best pictures but this still take the first place in my book. Don't miss out on this one!

Nooo Kevin

What happened here?. I've been fan of Kevin Smith since Clerks. There have been some hits and missed over the years, with cop out as the absolute low point.. Until now. Wauu this is an awful movie. Poorly executed, badly written and with some of the worst acting I have seen in years. I really wanted this to be good and since Clerks 2 was surprisingly awesome, I thought there could be one more hit left..I was wrong, stay away from this if you love Kevin Smith.

Chernobyl (2019)

Pure perfection

I can't say anything negative about this mini series. It's so well executed and everything just comes together in pure perfection. The acting is great and especially the chemistry and development between skaarsgaard and Harris is worth highlighting but everyone does a great job. I could write 20 pages about all that is good about this show but the IMDb rating speaks for itself. I recommend a binge watch for this masterpiece of a mini series and now television history.

Dave Chappelle: Sticks & Stones (2019 TV Special)

A masterpiece in stand up comedy

For me this is the best piece I've seen with Chappelle ever and that's saying a lot because I have enjoyed most of his work through the last 25 years. In my opinion all of the new Netflix specials are amazing but this last one stands out a bit more. While watching it I got the feeling that Chappelle really went all out, controversy be damned and just say whatever he felt like. It's kind of like his swan song and I thought during the show that he could walk away right now and this could stand as his last comedy performance because it's pure perfection (but I hope not though). This special is a manifestation of why Chapelle is one of the best comedians of all time.

Kevin Hart: Don't F**k This Up (2019)

This is one long promo video of Kevin Hart promoting Kevin Hart. To call this a documentary is really pushing it. It's written, created and produced by Hart himself and to be honest, he does not come out like a nice person at all but it's obvious that he think he does and often the "documentary"really speaks down to it's audience. I used to be pretty neutral about Hart. I've seen some funny stuff in his stand up but he is in my opinion no Rock, Pryor, Murphy or Chappelle but this "documentary"really pushes to place him in that category or above. If you love Hart and would love to see Hart as he wants to be portrayed this is for you. If you like quality filmmaking and nuanced and objective journalism this is not. The 3 stars are for the cameo appearances.

The Irishman (2019)

Masterpiece

This one is for the fans. It is very low key compared to other Scorsese bangers like Goodfellas and Casino but that is not a bad thing. I have watched it three times now to get all of the small details, since this movie does not talk down to its audience, you have to stay alert to get all of the wonderful small hints hidden in the dialogue and expressions. One word... Pesci, OMG!!
