Forgot new planet Earth and universe - very nice to play in...

Forgot there are humans and words...but overall very solid movie! Humans covered all cliche's nicely. Words and words, some more words - OH also gestures. The world is pretty amazing, (a friendlier Avatar world) easy to get to, and great animals/plants. Hmm well the big 4 (and few others) are amazing. I missed or part of brain holding memories from intro movie are gone. Going to avoid ruining anything by talking more. You already made up your mind - because it's GODZILLA!! Haha have fun (movie will test boyfriends and reverse - so hope you know your partner well.) Parents: No nudity or sex, or alcohol I can't remember anyone swearing, except the monsters....

The Flash (I) (2023)

** To start this review is from a 60+ yr old.** Thanks to the presents of Batman, et all - this movie had some amazing moments...but having the TV show running in parallel as the movie is running really weird. It's like 4 or 6 timelines and the comics I read for 30 years Criss-crossing - very interesting feeling. MArvel avoided this by having only 1 group of stars being their people - while WB had what 50 for each character they publish... Very amazing seeing them all - and I mean ALL in this story!!! So yeah the TV show handled this plot very well; The Zod arc is whoa - very heavy part of story. Can't ruin movie - probably family friendly I forgot to listen for cussing. No nudity or sex. Please see movie - as whatever actor did AFTER it was made only hurts people that need your support not the actor. There is an end credit scene. So yeah weird good story. Batman does save movie, of course.

Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)

So family friendly, Kids laughing when I saw this tonight...

OK very family friendly story for under 10-12's really most of the heavy adult stuff at the speed of the story won't be remembered until after 20th time watching with their friends and family. I mean 40 kids get power and fight monsters - and the comedy had kids laughing when I saw film tonight.

Yes as an adult I could sense the ups and downs of the story, but so many times the details of what is happening or what will happen soon made for an amazing viewing.

So many amazing tiny and huge details for comic readers from the 70 and 80's like me. Oh my goodness! Places in the film that will be paused and rewound are in the thousands... and the funny parts are for everyone.

No nudity, swearing or sex/drugs. So only a few film students will pick tiny faults at this story...if you read Thor comics you'll love this movie!

Hmm, I guess lastly is religion. IF you can't understand that this is a story, from comics, then probably not for you.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019)

**** SPOILERS **** Humans can't exterminate them can't live with them....could you try harder to exterminate them? Please! This planet of humans have the most luck of any planet of humans you can think of. (end sentence with prep! ha) OK I loved much - but again the writers have to "prove" everything so the back story data and stories, pics, temples....for everyone younger than 30? But at least no mutated worms... Power, and overall oomph of monsters AMAZING! Details for days for each. People can feed frenzy dreams of all the details. But phew the humans main goal STINKS...like a Godzilla turd. Hard to get your mind around some of the stupid things the bad guys are doing, (or lack of good guys security) Monsters + Humans - Story is prep for next one - but can stands alone. Can see they're calling everyone "Titans" - to be able to join all monsters ever written along with those robot movies....so if I was 5 I'd be stoked for every summer ahead of me. I miss Mothra getting more respect. But she stood out and pulled her weight nicely. She earned her island and throne. Rodan appearance was amazing. IF this is canon law then the humans should get smarter so that's a good thing! But stop shooting monsters with rifles; put toys away when monsters near.

The Happening (2008)

Broken roller coaster ride....

When no one talks movie is amazing. When people talk it looses all sense of reality. People split up for no reason, get shot at for no reason, act "unreal" most of the time. We are told everyone is us - yet no one heard of masks or checking the air, basic getting along. Maybe one point was a statement of how so many people fool around and actually don't care for who they are with....Maybe it was like Shrek says and being an onion it's difficult to write a story anymore, civilization has layers too and few of these layers were thought of to put in movie. No CDC, doctors, clean room mentality, electrical grid failure covered over too much of breakdown of humanity. The Amish western Penn would not even notice this happened.... This is a mess but good mess for rainy days!

Kubo and the Two Strings (2016)

Origami heaven - powerful folktale.

I'm not the target audience. But I love folktales and this is amazing...so expect the roller coaster ride of good versus evil as the hero struggles. Also I would NEVER forgive the bad guy as Kubo does... so don't hurt my family. The art work is so amazing - the origami effects - the characters - details too numerous to recall as I type this....my mind was so blown away at times. So to recap - origami heaven woven with a powerful folktale.

Great for families so much to talk about after movie: family traditions, and customs that keep the families together even far apart. Honoring departed family members.

Descendants of the Sun (2016)

Amazing story of a soldiers life...the whole Alpha team actually...

What an amazing well written story of love, duty, friendship, family... follow the stories of 6-12 people I think, only at Ep 15 now 6-4-2016, WOW!! So amazing! Love the Afghanistan mine clearing and medical episodes, the drama of ep 13 nd 14 - but of course I love the romance. The wheelchair scene in ep 14 amazingly perfect for the characters! Violence (just war type) and swearing, few kisses, no sex of course. Perfect for whole family. Major conversation starters.

Subtitles are amazing clear to read and sometimes not needed.

So glad I found this series! Really good for history buffs 9 stars out of 10.

Blade Man (2014)

AMAZING! The story is so amazing!

Watching the interaction between Joo Hong-bin and Son Se-dong is so slow and I guess real...well I was so happy watching this - and my son also loved it - which made it more special family memory. The story has romance and humor and the best sci-fi out of the blue I ever saw. Blades appear from his body - and the progression of learning about his power is so well written. The butler/Secretary Go (played by Han Jung Soo - was amazing character, the glue of the romantic leads).

Highly recommend this series; excellent subtitles.

Loved seeing Korea though this series. (hated the bad guys!) Ha well written series.

Pixels (2015)

Yes an Adam Sandler movie - but....

none of the Sandler people are in it (except Kevin James but is he in A.S. reg crew?) Just a little insulting humor; mostly story focus is importance of family and views of succeeding in life.

Very family friendly story.

Very good to excellent game graphics and seeing everything cross the screen rolls back time to many fun hours playing these games. Seeing Lady Lisa come to life had to be the dream of many watching this story unfold. Good for Ludlow! And Eddie getting the phone call at the award presentation also great fun. So yes it was rough at times and fast and amazing the rest of the time.

Good material for family talks after you see this story - old school games versus new.

Ant-Man (2015)

What an amazing foundation - solid future ahead...

An amazing story that makes the future of Marvel heroes so bright. The transfer of Ant-Man from Dr. Pym to the new guy is perfect - and I'm talking the details also. The past and present are woven again can't stress the detailing is amazing. Oh, before I forget: I saw people leaving the theater I have to remind people - STAY Until THE CLEANING CREW TELLS YOU TO LEAVE!! Goodness why people leave a Marvel movie early is so weird! You may suffer - but look at your phone - just do not leave....

Well the movies story is amazing. Can't remember any swearing - no nudity of course, no drugs or alcohol....

An amazing family movie I hope you also enjoy it as much as I did!

Into the Woods (2014)

Wanted to get my money back - such a mess after the wedding. Somehow this Disney mess is the new fairy tail of today?? No evil - just misunderstood people. What bs. Giant size bs. Giants that eat people. That can't be swept under the rug. And regret that your a witch does not change fact your evil, although America will forgive anyone and give them a second chance to redeem themselves which is why America is such an amazing country. But one has to really change. Covering oneself in sugar does not mean you've changed.

Great visuals, and Jacks, Red and Rapunzel story lines made it through pretty clearly. Not so much Cindy - although here my Son loved that they kept the original German version and really gave it to he step sisters, except then the writers had their spin and gave the 'WOODS' an unwanted Las Vegas feel (and song) just to really kill of any men watching this movie. Loved see Tracey Ullman! And the weaving of the 4 tales was nicely done. The wolf was interesting, weird, but well done. (many times movie felt like scenes from the play; which this whole is from, movies flow differently.) I think the children behind me liked this movie - it felt that many would have clapped as sometimes happens but no one started so it was quiet. Not a movie for the weak of musical heart. A great twist for me was that the Princes are brothers. That fit nicely and made for a funny song, sight gag, bit as 2 brothers can provide.

So woof stinker, but amazing bits, woven nicely. Would love to be in room if Mr. Walt Disney were alive after this, but with todays suits it is what I think is the new normal. Only Rapunzel made it out happily ever after, sort of. Sadly weird but normal for today. OUCH.

Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

Amazing story, amazing characters. 10 of 10 really deserved.

Easy to follow story about 5 amazing characters, not at all like SF Chronicle reviewer. The different places the group visits are detailed and can supply movie stories of their own, being so incredible detailed. By now as this review is a week late, you have heard of the 5 heroes, and please believe they are amazing. The pair of Rocket and Groot are the best, supplying the humor, but also deep caring for each other and strangers.

I hope after seeing this story you will agree.

Not many 10 of 10 movies made but this is one I highly recommend.

P.S. More details for upcoming Avengers movie, and a great cameo of an old Marvel character - that floored so many people.

The credits are also amazing - and that is something I never have said! The credits! "No raccoon or tree was hurt in the making of this movie" Amazing!

Edge of Tomorrow (2014)

Well worth your time and money! Best Summer movie to date

6-8-2014. Just saw the possibly best Summer movie to date. Feeling very good - no downer as in Spidey, or time twisting headache as the X-men. (Or weirdness from another remake of childhood great Godzilla)

Solid Summer hit. So much blowing up and the humour is spot on perfect for scenes.

The longer, better written, reviews are so correct about style, pace, and other movie stuff. The plot and acting was seamless for detail driven people - as you know by now many scenes are repeated so that people near you will mouth/say them as they are spoken.

The length of the movie time (bad pun here) went by quickly; no dragging as sometimes happens.

No nudity, no drugs/booze. Too old to care about swearing, but there has to be some it's a war movie too.

The manga of this movie is available too so you can read it later. :)

I enjoyed this movie and rated it an 8.

X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)

**** Spoilers **** The plot/story was well written. The twist in time was amazing. Seeing everyone from my youth was very nice. Obvious: No nudity, a few well choice F-bombs, hard to criticize any as the parents next to me said them out loud to the young son listened - so no problem for parents of superheroes. Had to say this for anyone no knowing superheroes swear. (No drugs)

I was really impressed the timeline was so well thought out, and the details of the times are perfect, to me. (I retired from comics in 2001 - so don't burn me for my 20 years of memories. I know movies are slightly different than comics, also)

All of the characters are here - so everyone should be happy. Excellent ending, so happy for Logan.

I hope you agree.

Blended (2014)

Drew! Barrymore/Sandler pairing magic

OK, well I love Drew Barrymore - so maybe 8 is high, but the romance and love was so well done mixing families I rate this at 8. The humor and seeing Mr. Sandler's friends was so perfect for the scenes they were in. Hearing those around me laugh seeing them preform brings a smile to your face. So being Adam Sandler is in this you must know the humor will be low brow - and it is, but not as much as when he was single.

It is so great they are together again!

Easy to love this movie as I also think kids are 99% the focus of the adults in their lives. So this message was not lost on me.

Oh just thought of a great line: Adam and Drew are well blended as a romantic/comic team. I hope you agree... Too much? Sorry. :)

Godzilla (2014)

Spoilers. Well not for everyone...true Godzilla lovers beware

True lovers of Godzilla may need to keep the expectations low - then judge this movie. This movie will work great with friends after seeing it, like watching Monty Python is better in a group. At least the Americans did not follow 1998 mistakes...sort of. As a film company I guess they would be happy - it is sort of better than the real Godzilla movies...but come on, this does not really work as well as the real Godzilla movies, as hard as it is to be honest.

Humans and screen time for the star are going to be a problem, and what one person thinks is a monster another could disagree - bankers need solid agreement for the money needed, I can see that - but well really kinda missed on monsters - MUTO...? Eyes, mouth/face? Loving parents? Parasitic insects could look more like insects and I would be happier. Not just saying this to ruin the movie. The kids will want more screen time for Godzilla, shoot it looks like many reviewers do also...but then there won't be any talking lol. (who would say 2 hours of monsters only battles would be a bad thing?) I really was not emotionally connected to the humans, probably because I came to watch Godzilla. But there was enough emotion to go around.

The SF Chronicle reviewer could not understand watching stuff being stepped on or crushed as they walked or fought - but well it was so well done! This is a solid 9 out of 10. The details will keep the faithful happy for months.

But for me sadly the humans and Muto lower this to a 7. IF you have a 60 inch TV and sound system get the DVD. It is great seeing the movie on huge screen and sound system.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)

Whoa...nice story and potential

Excellent addition to the Spiderman lore. Great to see the additional details of being Peter Parker, and Spiderman. Loved hearing the smartass Spidey as in the comics.

The continuation of the mayhem from Ozcorp looks amazing.

What more can I say ...need 10 lines of text... It's Spidey so you already know, and will nod as story flows along. Would like the film companies add cameos of all the other heroes that live in NYNY as Spidey works in city, regardless of contracts and film company copyrights. We all know Spidey knows all the teams and solo heroes in area. So to one day seeing the Torch and Spidey talking on a roof, or DD knowing by his heartbeat as Pete shoots pictures.. be a true believer!

Kick-Ass 2 (2013)

Too many times asking WT(F)...

Loved seeing Hit Girl, even Kick Ass - to some degree but WTF questions got in the way too often. Great seeing Donald Faison (aka Dr. Gravity) nice to see him working. If you see this movie I hope you enjoy it and can't see as older adults will that there are so many WTF moments it distracts from enjoying the story. All the distraction over Mr. Carrey was pointless as his character was not IN the movie as main plot...??? Hit Girl living in the Lohan movie Mean Girls had a point. None of the "kids" (except HG) understood REAL life well...kinda hard to believe...

Looking forward to KA3 as 20 somethings in this dimension of weirdness :)

Cho-kam-gak Keo-peul (2008)

This movie is SOOO amazing!! Wonderfully acted, and the writing is amazing also. Interesting sights of Korea. The stars are so perfect for their roles. The subtitles are clear and easy to read. Mild movie violence, no sex/kisses (kinda duh but have to say). Some scenes are so laugh out loud disturb the neighbors funny. She has him wrapped around her little finger - but he comes to understand he is happier because of her. Anime to explain her is an amazingly good idea.

10 stars A+ Best story no loose ends or confusion, as in some movies.

I hope you enjoy this story as much as I do.

I hope they continue these two characters in many more movies or better dramas.

The Man from Nowhere (2010)

Amazing story !

Being an elite trained agent - retired and avoiding life - thus avoiding memories things were at a nice quiet level for Cha Tae-sik. Except for a little girl Jeong So-mi. Thanks to her mother BAM...the roller-coaster starts at max speed, one is barely able to catch their breath. Tae search for Somee is driven and well written (an equal to any hero search). The fight scenes are amazing! The movies pace keeps you wondering who's bad and shocked at who is. The bad guys really DO bad things - so be warned - NO KIDS under 12! Unless you plan to explain all aspects of adult life.

The subtitles are clear and easy to read. Violence of course is bloody but not "crazy" or over the top. I guess 'real' is the word. Language also matches adults in being bad - evil. Drug use, and scenes that will cause nightmares to many especially the under 12 - as many kids are abused badly.

I am very glad to have found this movie. 9 stars.

Kiss Me, Kill Me (2009)

Kdrama style introspective look at ones life...

This is how Hyun-jun and Jin-young first meet. The most extraordinary love story begins. And the tag line from IMDb "A perfect killer makes his first mistake... falling in love with his target." - IS PERFECT description. Jin friendless and alone in deep sadness, and Hyun a emotionless killer - both find that when together they feel and start to live. Wonderful story, but if your not familiar with Kdramas it can feel long as there is little dialogue. And of course many symbolism pieces (which I never get) :( The subtitles are clear and easy to read, the humour fits smoothly with the story as real life. All scenes with his mother as an example. I liked that the director and writer built the stress nicely so you can't guess the end. Of course there is violence and language of gangsters/adults - so parents should watch this with their kids to talk about the scenes and loneliness of Jin so the kids are not confused about adult life or romances that end badly.

The Guy Was Cool (2004)

Touching story of young love.

When does anyone fall in love with someone? This amazing story explains the love a young man has for a girl - and the trouble life can throw at you if you miss any slight chance to express yourself...as another - his best friend - also falls hard for the same girl! (Also a triangle between girls - is shockingly real) I don't understand the workings of Korean gangs (or any gangs actually)...but very intense life. The conflict is amazing between the two friends, and the growth to a deeper friendship is so raw, and felt true.

The subtitles are clear and easy to read - so I hope you take the opportunity and watch this well written, and truly amazing story of young love.

Mr. and Mrs. Incredible (2011)

Beautiful love story ....super funny too.

Amazing - AWESOME - story of love between a husband and wife - that had me laughing out loud and tearing up so touching how they love it other so deeply. If you have to practice fighting as a couple - well you know you have a great life. Add a great small town to live in and you have a fantastic story for the whole family to enjoy! The difference of this couple from their neighbors is that both are amazing superheroes of China! That give up the life to be "normal".

The special effects are martial arts perfection, and the actual love and care for each other shines through every scene.

The DVD has very easy menu controls and the Eng subtitles are clear and easy to read.

I am so blessed to have found this movie!! I hope you find this gem as entertaining as I do.

Griff the Invisible (2010)

Not Australian hero to someday work with other "real" heroes...

This is a quirky romantic/comedy - NOT A SUPERHERO MOVIE.

That said - it is amazing if not for the fact nothing is "real".

2 people find each other and you feel very good for them.

The special effects are very amazing - enough to confuse you into forgetting this is NOT a superhero movie. Very high quality! You feel sad once you understand his life, but happy he found someone.

Also for me - I found it weird nothing 'Australian' popped out as I watched. Is that unusual a foreign movie that does show off their country? Very tight relationship movie.

A solid 4 because the hero I saw wasn't as super as the poster lead me to believe...just super because he was there for his woman.

Angel's Share (2010– )

What a load of crap...sort of.

I'm 52 and just finished watching this tonight, July 2011. I weep for Japanese women if they are actually living like the heroine of this story. Well actually I mostly had WTHell moments through most of this movie/series. It is 5 episodes on Dramacrazy.net. Once she is reset on her feet the movie is wonderful as she gets stronger, and more confident. I wanted to bury the "man" (jelly fish have more spine!) "father" (no way does he qualify as a father) in a shallow hole somewhere, after bashing in his head for an hour or two! ARRGH! What an embarrassment to us men! - but the writers have her forgive him! The other threads in her life are interesting and growing stronger, except again many WTH but only with the men... arrogance in failed "chef", but he did grow up :) Weird that all the men ran away from huge debts, etc. but police/IRS don't care to look for them. Is this real at all? What saved this is the cooking - very similar to Dae Jang Geum (Jewel of the Palace) from Korea, again about strong women and love of cooking. Wonderful - and the subtitle team explained every dish and ingredient, so one can make the dishes later! So amazing! So half the time I am cursing the men and some actions of the women to keep these losers, and other half I am amazed by the cooking and the growth of these same women....very exhausting :)

Like I mentioned earlier the subtitles are amazing! Clear and easy to read. Very interesting side of Japanese life. Glad I found this story - but being American hard for me to understand what the writer (whole team) wanted to say.
