Halloween Kills (2021)
Sooo uhhh. Killing random characters who we don't care about makes a good movie?
I was so excited to watch this movie because I am a huge Halloween fan. I was very disappointed to say the least. There were too many characters added to the mix that were absolutely unnecessary. The focus of the movie wasn't on Jamie Lee Curtis, or Judy Greer. (The two "main" characters of the movie). They barely had any lines and the lines that they had were just repeated throughout the movie, and frankly the lines made them both annoying . JAMIE LEE CURTIS DOESNT SEE MICHAEL THE ENTIRE MOVIE. The entire plot of the movie was random individuals with very minimal relation to Michael (abruptly added to the plot with an out of no where opening scene) dying to his hand. No character development anywhere in regards to important characters. Nothing learned. I wish I skipped this movie and just watched the final (better be the final) movie that comes out in a couple of years. Save your money!!! The only important part of this movie was SPOILER ALERT HEAVILY: the last minute of the movie when Judy Greer dies. I'd want to die off if I were Judy too because of how lousy this film was. The only reason why I gave this movie a 4 was because yes it is a decent slasher film even though it's just random people dying. But dammit I want it to add to the main plot.
Dear Evan Hansen (2021)
HI! Not paid to make this review here: WONDERFUL MOVIE
I have absolutely no credentials to explain to you why this movie was great, and I don't make reviews often at all. I literally go to the movies by myself very frequently because I just LOVE watching movies. I was able to get early showing tickets to this movie and was excited, to say the least, because I loved the musical. The acting from everyone was incredible (including Ben platt who did spectacularly even though he does look very old compared to an average high schooler) but his voice and the emotion he conveyed was very real in my opinion. The story, the music, the characters: every aspect of this movie was phenomenal. Loved the direction Stephen Chbosky (or however you spell it) took this movie in. I am definitely going to watch this movie more times in theaters with my friends to see their reactions!! GO WATCH TO SHED SOME HEALTHY TEARS AND BE THOROUGHLY MOVED!!
Never Have I Ever (2020)
Didn't expect anything less from writer Mindy Kaling
Started watching the show at 10 PM and watched it straight until now (2:30 AM). Have to say this show was perfect for me because it had EXACTLY my type of humor. I couldn't stop laughing throughout (thank you Mindy Kaling)! I loved how different this show was compared to other shows and loved how culturally diverse it was! Though the performance was not amazing on the leads part, I still give it a pass because it was her first time acting in any movie/show (so quite good for a first time). I promise you won't regret watching! I cannot wait for the second season.
The Turning (2020)
The movie cats was better than this movie
I WATCHED THIS SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO. Good performance from the lead actress. Subpar on everything else. The plot was so incoherent even for the brightest individuals. And SO many plot holes might I add. What was up with the beginning scene? That wasn't (maybe) imagined. That was from the little girls point of view. WHAT WAS THE STORY BEHIND THAT??? The movie was building up (with VERY disappointed jump scares) to something maybe interesting, but then dropped a nuclear bomb on the entire project. As a wise Ariana Grande once said,"thank you, next."
The Lighthouse (2019)
Great(ish) movie!
Acting: 10/10 Aesthetic: 10/10 Horror: 10/10 story: 6/10 ....
I was really excited to see this movie because of the ratings and ,unabashedly, Robert Pattinson who I will always be fond of.
The black and white was very much a success in this film and I seriously could not have imagined it any other way.
Both performances were seriously just breathtaking. I can honestly say that either of them have the opportunity to win an Oscar this year.
The shots were all amazing and the set was so beautiful and I'm very pleased with the true feeling of horror that was conveyed
I hope you all know I feel bad for saying this, but the story was just not it. I absolutely love horror movies and the feeling of watching them and this movie did a great job with the feeling but honestly there wasn't really a story. It was just a movie about two men going insane. There wasn't really a point: no resolution, no climax, seriously just a bunch of artistic horror implemented here and there.
Will I watch this movie again? Probably. Do I personally consider this a horror classic? No. Do I recommend watching this movie? Yes, definitley! Don't get too attached to the story, just worry about the feeling the film gives you. Hope this helps!
Countdown (2019)
Such a great scary movie!
I was honestly super skeptical about seeing this movie because I feel like supernatural-technological movies are flat out STUPID (movies like "Rings" and "Unfriended") AND the ratings on this movie were so low!! BUT I WAS THOROUGHLY SURPRISED
I am a scary movie guru and I've seen pretty much any scary movie you could name and trust me this one was one of the good ones! The acting from the lead actress was phenomenal (which was expected: her acting from the tv show "You" was phenomenal!) the jump scares really got me, and that RARELY happens! There were scares that I was totally not expecting. The story was great with some comedic moments that will make you chuckle!
I encourage you to ignore the bad ratings and watch it for yourself! I'm sure you will see the movie and enjoy it like I did!
