Australia (2008)
Baz Luhrmann's take on "Giant"
Australia is Baz Lurmann's take on "Giant". The Story line is the exact same as well as the characters. Instead of Texas it is set in Australia, Nicole Kidman plays Elizabeth Taylors role, Hugh Jackman plays Rock Hudsons role and David Wenham plays James Dean's role. They are so similar that even David Wenham starts out as a cow hand then rises to power owning most of the land. All the sub plots from "Giant" are also seen such as racism, (instead of indians it is aborigines) the war, and many more. The reason why I liked this movie so much is because of Baz Luhrmanns unique style. I would have to say that I liked "Australia" more than I like "Giant". I do however feel as though Baz is getting credit for something that has already been done. It is not an original movie at all, he just changed the scene and added some special effects.

Religulous (2008)
Movie Madness...
This movie covers it all...kinda. The film makers obviously hate anything to do with religion and make that very clear in this film. 90% of the films comments make no sense and can't be taken seriously. If you are looking for a goofy silly movie to laugh at then this is the movie for you, but if you are looking for a movie that well give you facts about religion this is not for you. I did have a couple laughs but for most of the time I was just thinking this is stupid. The whole film they just blast every religion and nit pick it so much that it gets old after the first five minutes. The movie was however well made, it had good quality film making but that is the only upside of the film. So if you want to see a movie that immaturely pokes fun at religion then go see this movie, otherwise I would not recommend this movie.
Forrest Gump (1994)
Gumpalicious
This is the kind of movie I love. Forrest Gump is a movie with a great story, a cast of entertaining actors, a powerful score, as well as an interesting take on history. The movie didn't seem to have a single dull moment. From the start to the very end Forrest Gump captured your heart and wouldn't let go. The movie was also very well done. It rightfully earned all 6 of the Oscars that it won. The only weak aspect of film making I noticed was some of the editing. Some of the scenes didn't flow as well as they should have, I don't know if this was the editor's fault or if there just wasn't the right footage to work with. That however is easily over looked due to the quality of the rest of the film making. I would recommend this movie.
Fireproof (2008)
Not a waist of time...
Being a Christian I am still not a fan by any means of Christian movies, I was offered the chance to see an advanced screening of this movie and the only reason why I went was to say that I saw it before anyone else did. I knew it had Kirk Cameron in it so I assumed it was going to be as bad as the Left Behind films. Then I noticed that it was directed and produced by the same people who created Facing The Giants, so I thought there was a chance it would be okay. The opening of the movie was weak and unclear but developed into a rather interesting and touching story. The comic characters were perfect! There was not too much or too little, it was just the right amount. Some of not all of the religious conversations came across as cheesy. To sum it up I went in not expecting anything worth talking about but came out surprised. The following are based on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the best.
Acting - 5 Music - 6 Cinematography - 6 Screenplay - 4 Story/Plot - 5 Overall - 5
