In the end.. it was trash
2 April 2024
Preachy film that has no idea what it wants to be.

The editing was sloppy, the character motivations were unwarranted.

This movie is about 5 years too late and made by someone who is not too competent as a filmmaker (yet) I had a few chuckles, but then it just became absolutely boring, and it just switched Genres and became a lot more boring.

Damn as I write this movie I just dropped another Star. The Writer director should have experimented more with the concept before making this. It's amateurish and film school level. Didn't make sense. The ending ruined it times 2.

Really bad experience watching this.

John Cena deserves all the praise!
12 March 2024
13 year old me would never have thought that 30 year old me would want to applaud John Cena for his work.

John is incredibly loveable and carries this movie on this massive traps, his comedic timing is just on point, without him this would just be another raunchy comedy but John honestly brings a human nature to it that just makes your heart happy.

I'm no fan of these testosterone filled comedies but John Cena, you have my full support. Ever since Peacemaker, he has been warming up to me and now I'm completely sold. He is one of the best wrestler turned actors, and honestly trumps Dwayne Johnson who is the same character in every movie.

I'm honestly just here to give John the credit he deserves for what he did with his career and I hope to see tons and tons more from him.

Simply lazy filmmaking
19 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
You have to have the depth of a coffee cup to accept this film. Loads of exposition and none of the characters having a good enough arc to nail the emotional payoffs.

You had the scientist drain the life out of our hero only to try & save him soon after all the damage was done and you expect us to empathize with him? Come on DC, your audience is certainly older than 5 years old, please would you write a script that treats us that way and doesn't belittle our intelligence and capacity for emotional gravitas.

Please, just make a film and not just a compilation of by the numbers events that you use to try and convince us is a movie that is worth our time.

Andy Muschietti deserves praise
18 July 2023
The script was ok. The visual effects pretty much sucks, but the visual style and the tone were so much fun that I have to give credit to the director who for me was the star of this movie. There are sequences that are incredibly entertaining to watch & I love how Andy can seamlessly switch up the tone when in-between the characters, Michael Keatons batman got the last hoora he deserves in an almost sequel to his film. He certainly does steal the show.

The casting was not good imo, and I think another talented actor would be able to have made Barry a lot more related and hit the emotional beats. The whole "My mom died" story is old and these days too little of a motivation to drive the plot, I think Barrys plight should have been something more.

B grade film

I Wouldn't have been surprised if Steven Segal just showed up and did a sit down flight scene with J-Lo.

It didnt take me long to realise the kind of film I was watching, and truthfully I only made it past the first act. Some scenes were straight up rip offs of other Hollywood films that did the same sequences much better. J-Lo got very annoying very quickly with her "Im a badass boss" attitude that didnt waiver long enough for me to get to know any other traits of her character. One straight face monotonous performance that got very cold very fast.

Netflix is smart, because they dont care about reviews, they know for a fact people are going to click on this film because its a click away, they know they will prolly make some money from this barely passable film.

James Gunn is Marvels only slither of hope left
5 May 2023
This movie made me cry, I never thought I would cry in a super hero movie made by Marvel. But this is not a marvel movie, this a film by James Gunn, an honest filmmaker who cares deeply about these characters and gave them a glorified ending. I can only be thankful for the only filmmaker not stuffing political ideas down our throats.

This is a story of Love, loss, friendship and family, and the lengths we would go for the ones that we love. I dont mind the tonal shift between comedy, adventure and action because they all gradually compliment the other. This is one of the best Super hero films to date. Thank you James Gunn.

Superb writing
1 May 2023
The conflict in this show is unwavering, there isnt an episode where things die down and the plot lightens. One solution leads to another problem, and each time you want to stick around & see how on earth they will resolve the next one.

Its social commentary is also something it does not shy away from, and its a fine mirror of how current model of society. It has plenty of characters but they all mean something vital to the overall plot, you can easily binge this show and probably complete a season in a day, given you have nothing else to do.

Well done to all the filmmakers who were a part of creating the show.

Warning: Spoilers
Can someone explain to me why the heck the waiters in the final showdown just turned out to be bounty hunters? What, does bounty hunting not pay enough? Do they need a main hustle while the bounties come in? Is competition too high?

Its cartoonish, not to be taken seriously but still, could have been far better. The action sequences are basic shot for shot action, no impressive camera work or choreography, the chemistry between the main characters was ok. I dont think they will have a happily ever after, they probably broke up a week after the events of this movie.

Its just about passable and worth your time only if you have time to waste.

Spectacular

The writing is truly superb here, and Ali Wong has brought us an honest & deeply portrayed performance of Amy. Steven shined as always but Ali's career from here is going to blossom, well done to her.

I was hooked from the very first episode, and kind of wish there was one more to close the arcs of all the other characters, but still left incredibly satisfied after the last episode. I did not expect much, but got far more than I bargained for. I dont think this show is for everyone, but it has enough going on for the many. Its fresh, its very fun and each episode gets better. Its not perfect but it gets a 10 for all the hard work, and effort put in to tell a rich & beautiful story.

A fine entry into the franchise
3 March 2023
No doubt Ryan Coogler was a whisper in Michael B Jordans ear for his directorial debut, and what a debut. Its certainly not a perfect movie, some beats dont hit as hit as you might anticipate, but it sure had enough of a beating heart that sometimes had an adrenaline spike.

Michael has grown into Addonis and clearly Loves this character and honors the performance he puts on.

Standout though, was Jonathan Majors very menacing Damien, someone with nothing to lose, and everything to take. He was a beast in the ring, and dug up some demons to be able to play Dame. At this point he is no doubt an A-Lister who we will see in more and more films in the future.

Well done to the cast and crew of this film, thank you for moving the story forward in a brisk way. Im also kind of glad that Rockey was not in this one, because at this point, it would have just been for the movie poster.

Another one of Marvels computer generated movies
1 February 2023
Chat gpt wrote this movie. Soulless with weak character motives. My favorite character was Namore, he had the most heart. Wakandans are responsible for their fate in this film so I could not empathise with their tragedy.

Angella basset gave a powerful performance which warrents her oscar nod.

Im African and i dont care about this half hearted attempt to represent our continent and its people. Why are Wakandans speaking english? Oh right, to sell this movie back to the colonisers. Its far more of a product and a cash grab than anything else its selling itself to be.

Good job to all the actors who gave their best and heartfelt performances, but for a corporation who used their talent as a tool.

Got worse the more I thought about it...
6 January 2023
A good movie is supposed to savor in our thoughts, like a good wine ages to perfection. This film only got more rotten the more its plot and characters visited me after the initial viewing.

Some characters were only there for representation and served no real purpose to the plot. I think they have duped us as an audience, conned into thinking we like something that is actually trash with a mediocre plot. The great detective solved the case by realizing how stupid the killer was.

Maybe that's just the way of the filmmakers thinking that we are stupid as an audience and we are stupid enough to fall for this stupidity.
