Beast of Bangalore: Indian Predator (2022)
Really good watch!
Slow burn, not for the one's used to Indian tabloid media and sensationalism of news.
I am from Bangalore and I can say that the makers capture the spirit of the story very well. It is a good reflection of Indian societal structure, patriarchy and the taboo associated with reporting s.assault on women. Shows very well why 90% of s.assault cases go unreported in India!
It was interesting to see the police reaction and the terms they use. I truly cringed when one retd. Police used the term "enjoyment of women" for horrific rape. There seems to be no sensitivity training to the trauma undergone by the victims.
Also, the complete lack of interest in understanding the psyche of the psychopath, their lack of remorse and using this for prevention of future crimes was surprising!
The decision of the courts very well reflects the patriarchy seen in the Indian society.
Overall a very intriguing watch.
Cuttputlli (2022)
Cringe fest
The movie plot is very badly researched. It feels like the writer got all his details about psychopathic behavior from 1st page of Wikipedia.
Casting and acting falls flat. If you belong to a generation that watched mindhunter, conversations with a killer or hannibal series and movies, you'll cringe on almost every scene.
The movie is neither thrilling or interesting, it just relies on cheap gore and shock value, with Akshay kumar's star power to sell itself.
It's very evident that they consider their audience as unintelligent. Save your 2 hours, this movie is a hard pass with bad plot, casting and acting.
Kapil Sharma: I'm Not Done Yet (2022)
Pure Cringe
I sat through 30 mins of this cr@p-show until I couldn't watch it anymore. The comedy is forced, clichéd and unintelligent, not the kind of content you want to watch on Netflix. There are many talented standup comics in India, sadly this guy is not one of them.
Comedy Premium League (2021)
Winning team was undeserving/biased ending
It was a really good show, first few episodes are meh, after that it gets better. The finale episode was so entertaining. However the wrong team won this, they were absolutely NO match for other team's wit and raw talent. Guess audience got a bit sensitive about the roasts? Somewhat evident in the reviews posted here. Or maybe they wanted to make it less predictable? As the other team were clear winners and everyone was way out of their league.
Kilometers and Kilometers (2020)
Waste of time
Bad movie, full of wrong stereotypes. Not worth watching.
Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl (2020)
Every girl/woman in India, please watch this!
Such an inspiring story and movie. As a working woman in a male dominated profession, can confirm that the patriarchy shown here, hits close home. Please ask every little girl in India to watch this. Beautiful storyline and screenplay. Sure, Jahnavi's acting can be better, but then nobody is perfect and she is new, so give her a chance.
Paatal Lok (2020)
Beautiful masterpiece
Really well made series, if you ignore the unoriginal fake reviews which sadly suppress any intelligent movie or series from India. Great screenplay, good story line and talented direction. Feels good to see the real India on screen, someone had the the guts to show it, and the talent to show it well on a fictional screen. Please watch the real talent from India and ignore the brainwashed bhakts.
Altered Carbon: Phantom Lady (2020)
Season2 is such a let down
I was really looking forward ro watch this series. Unfortunately, season 2 was not up to the mark and felt very bland. The story line is too repetitive, acting is just meh, VFX not as good as the first season, overall it was just a visual and intellectual disappointment.
Bãhubali 2: The Conclusion (2017)
(Avoid) clichéd plot line, with ludicrous VFX
Honestly, I do not understand the hype about this movie. This was one of the worst movies ever made and a horrid collosial waste of money and time. I wish I could get my money back.
It does not take large copious amounts of money and VFX to make a good movie, but rather, the script, editing, direction and acting should be it's strong points. This movie falls flat in all of these.
The director treats his entire movie audience as fools by bending the laws of physics as per his whims and fancies and putting in elaborate nonsensical, visualizations and stunts, as and when he desires.
It probably, would all have made sense, if the Bahubalis and their army, were mutants or part of the Avengers team. Otherwise, it's only laughable.
Some folks, told me to appreciate, "the effort with which the movie was made and it's grand visuals". Well, you just cannot appreciate the effort put into this movie, for despite all it's lavishness, it's a bad movie with a clichéd plot line; Which is a shame, as it had potential to be so much more.
