Funny and Unique
7 December 2023
Well written, edited, directed, and acted movie. Nicholas Cage is incredible as is everyone else. The movie has a lot of dream sequences but weirdly the movie as a whole, even without the dream sequences, feels like a fever dream.

It's very funny at times, uncomfortable at times, and kind of scary at others. About halfway through I thought to myself, "I have no idea where this is going." I then tried to predict what would happen but it's impossible. It takes weird turns and you're along for the ride. If you're looking for something safe and comfortable, this isn't the movie to watch.

I saw it two days ago and I can't stop thinking about it. It's a great depiction of fame, and what can happen to someone who becomes famous with no substance behind their fame.

Very Unique

I don't think I've ever seen a movie like this before and I mean that in the best way possible. It's incredibly honest and I think touches on very real dynamics on family and shows them in a very realistic way. Jeff's father is especially sympathetic. Painful movie but it still has a lot of hope too.

This Movie Rules

If you're looking for something different that's still incredibly high quality, watch this movie. It's a very impressive masterpiece in every aspect. I will say no more than I feel confident that it'll be my favorite movie of the year.

Hurt My Brain

I watched this movie the day after the Golden Globes and thought "Hell yeah, a nice western, slow burn drama. I'm in!" Very quickly into the movie i was worried. None of the characters act like real people, everyone overacts, and there is no story.

It hurt my head thinking about this actually winning best picture and critics liking it. I like a slow burn, but when your movie has not one entertaining scene in it the entire time and no character that is remotely likable, then you have a problem. It felt like watching a movie made by aliens trying to imitate human art.

Favorite Movie All Time

This movie has everything. You feel the way Tarantino wants you to feel the entire way through. Awesome, funny, dramatic... I defy anyway to find flaws.

Joyless, Lacking Good Characters, and No Conclusion
30 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Starting with positives, it is a very good looking movie, the acting is good, and it's well directed. Also, I'm not familiar with the source material so maybe this movie "does it justice" but I'm judging this as it's own thing. That being said, none of the characters are easy to root for because they're so bland which is the main problem. The whole movie I was waiting for a big climax that never comes. When I realized the second half of this movie was just them walking around a desert, I wanted to leave but I stuck it out. I havent fealt like leaving the theater during a movie since maybe Scary Movie 5.
