Vampires vs. the Bronx (2020)
Wasted Potential
Starts off as a "Lost Boys but in the Bronx" type of movie. The kids are great for the most part, but the movie starts to preach to the audience and take itself WAY too seriously.
Shame, could have been a lot of fun, but it turns into an overdone sermon.
Ted Bundy: Falling for a Killer (2020)
Disgraceful garbage
I couldn't make it through the first episode. The documentary itself is boring and meandering. There is no clear narrative other than something about feminism interspersed with random people talking about random things. His wife occasionally chimes in with something insightful, but it's obvious that the film makers aren't interested in a documentary so much as they are a activism piece using the bodies of dead women to step on.
I Care a Lot (2020)
Meh
Great acting and an interesting concept. But the plot begs down with contrivances and characters who are known to be shrewd and cunning have to make the dumbest mistakes imaginable. Then our main character has to turn into Superwoman.... it just goes to hell late.
The Bad Batch (2016)
How did they screw this up?
How do you take a movie with this much potential and screw it up? It's like a 14 year old wrote it and thought it was super cool.
Suki Waterhouse should stick to never speaking in movies. She is atrocious in this, and every line out of her mouth is like nails on a chalkboard.
Sad, because it could have been a great movie, but it honestly feels like the director had her head so far up her own ass she wouldn't listen to anyone else's input. Really does come off like a 14 year old made this.
Captain Marvel (2019)
Very pathetic
This movie is really, really bad. There is no hero's journey here, just a self-righteous lady who is unstoppable. Brie Larson is downright annoying, and the movie screws with the Marvel timeline.
Léon (1994)
Overrated
Natalie Portman is stilted and robotic delivering lines, though she occassionally shows flashes, Jean Reno is good, and Gary Oldman is fantastic.
The plot is nonsensical and all over the place, the characters make mind-numbingly dumb decisions.
Nothing in this film makes any sense from a character or plot perspective. It's also annoying to watch supposed tactical teams move like complete idiots on screen. It is very obvious that no one did 5 minutes of technical research before filming.
There are flashes of brilliance in the movie, however. I just don't understand the love for this movie though. Outside of Gary Oldman, there is nothing that really stands out.
Bad Times at the El Royale (2018)
Director self-love
This movie should have been about 30 minutes shorter. Scenes go on for way too long, the director hangs on shots that need to end, there's too much dialogue in places, etc. It's well shot, but he isn't like Tarantino where he can get away with it and keep it interesting the whole time.
