Stuber (2019)
I expected average level, it gave me less...
I expected an average level liking to this flick. Yet I waited and waited for improvement. But it just didn't quite work for me.
With BATISTA & expected upcoming actor/wtiter KUMAIL NANJIANI.
The comedy liners were not clicking for me. The buddy-buddy... JUST DIDN'T WORK for me. And how does the storyline even blend! It makes nonsense how a tuff cop forces OR befriends an uber driver with issues of his own!
That I have to continue to come up with more reasons not to like this flick is like I had to FORCE myself to finish the movie!... AND ALSO be able to complete the minimum amount of feedback in this post.
Goodluck enjoying this movie.
The Creator (2023)
Technology and art helps, just not enough to save this film for me.
Technology and art helps, yet it's not enough to help me like this movie enough to enjoy the character. Because he just didn't seem believable to me to be the character he plays!
How does a character over look the obvious & common sense!... Ok, maybe the character can be overwhelmed or tromatized to loss and love. But that much and yet STILL able to look past the struggle and issues with others?!! OR the fact that his behavior affects others BECAUSE of his "blind spots"... just doesn't work for me.
A good movie for me is where you can REVISIT a film and enjoy, review and even break it down to make sense or meaning... this movie has some of these elements. BUT it's not worth me revisiting because it dragged and bored me.
The only reason I visited this film was for the main actor been Denzel's son. To see if his performance was believable enough or more for me... still thinking about it.
John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023)
A fourth John Wick 🤔🤔🤔
A fourth JOHN WICK!?!? 🤔🤔🤔... really?!!
Some scenes should have had more story and MORE characters from past JOHN WICK chapters returning for a final play or collaboration.
I understand why movies are usually done in x3, work better!
I REALLY started to watch less & less of the "Gunfighting" scenes & looked for more story. Because making sense of where this story was going was starting to irritate me!
YES the gunfights are good & some of the fight was good also... BUT at least fight in a manner that makes sense rather than draw it out just for show! Fighting needs purpose & understanding in fighting. Like quick, no muck around ready for the next bullet & knife coming in one's direction.
I liked chapter4 JOHN WICK, just lesser & lesser with time.
A League of Their Own (1992)
Revisiting a fun film. Not so inspiring as I thought...
Revisiting a fun film... Not so inspiring as I thought & rememberedit it...
With star studded actors & singer not singing. (Only the closing credits song.) Story was REAL good til the last quarter.
GENA DAVIS was in demand at the time. Her role & performance in "Long Kiss Goodnight" was inspiring! She marked the beginning & start of the "Double-Spy Action Woman" with teeth & grit. PLUS the blood lust!... AWESUM!
This film was fun & light hearted.
Like I said, last quarter of the flick was messed up with Gena coming back to help the team... to LOSE!!!
Giving her spoiled sister the glory & messed up happy ending. Where during the last plays in the final, where she was starting to lose the plot & feel the pressures of finals play... YET, the film world gaves her baby sister the happy ending needed.
Funny how it reflects life today.
Violent Night (2022)
Surprisingly Good fun!... After all the stretched story in the obvious.
Surprisingly Good fun!... After all the stretched story in the obvious.
The mixture of fantasy and humor, can work somehow. Reminds me of another movie that is similar in style. But keeps to the storyline, minus the fairytale.
At first it's hard to judge or even categories the movie. Because it does mess with the fantasy style movie like "the Brother's Grimes" starring Matt Damon & Health Ledger. And with the low budget version of "Die Hard 2"... THAT'S how this movie plays out & delivers.
Overall in my opinion, this is a fun movie to watch at home on the big screen. If not, hope it's in the movies at a select theater.
Enjoy.
Creed III (2023)
Creed III is not ROCKY...
Yeap! I said it!... "Creed III is not ROCKY"
The style of the movie. The flow of the movie is nothing in feel or style of ROCKY.
I kinda felt that when watching the first Creed. But that Creed flick has the ROCKY (Sly Stallone) soynd and feel.
Yes, it has hints here and there... but it's lost that ROCKY BALBOA feeling. So at best one can say it's DEFINITELY and INDEPENDENTLY a CREED film.
Question: Is that a good thing that it's NOT a ROCKY MOVIE?... Maybe!
And in saying that, it's a film that works on pulling the heart strings LIKE a ROCKY film WITHOUT the ROCKY himself in it.
So in watching this flick, it's just ANOTHER boxing movie with black characters in a boxing film.
Enjoy.
Lawless (2012)
With the talent in this movie... WATA WASTE!
Like I said in the beginning of yhis movie... WHAT A WASTE!!!
The TALENT ALONE that was involved in this flick, I exspected a better script, a better story and a DAM BETTER STORY-TELLING!
After watching this flick... I COULDN'T BELIEVE, the wrong people died too early for dumb reasons. And whimsy, whiny character that course MOST of the trouble LIVED!!!... I don't know, is that a reflection of REAL LIFE?... maybe. That's why I say with the talent, the delivery of the story could have been WAY BETTER, MORE IMAGINATIVE!... but it was not.
In my opinion, it was a poorly delivered story with a lack of story telling from characters I wanted to hear from & see more of.
I have no reason EVER!, and I never wanna see this flick again!
My All-American (2015)
Hearty Movie, BEST football plays recorded...
Hearty Movie, BEST football plays recorded...
GOOD Movie, great story.
I'm a footage fan. Played the game in New Zealand. Don't have the crowd numbers like the USA. But we played EVERY game with commitment & want... I personally have won 8 Championships (x7 w/MUSTANGS, x1 w/PRIDE.)
Watching this took me back to play days. Not many movies do that for me.
Movie has the heart felt moments. NOT just about the action, yet the delivery of the story is very good. Movie has a taste for all sorts. Making it enjoyable viewing.
With a GREAT cast & delivered performances, you gotta enjoy the show.
DEFINITELY worth a good night's in watching.
The Price of Peace (2015)
Wonderful, insightful, informative...
Wonderful, insightful, informative...
I just finished watching this. I found family watching the movie "MURU", movie based on this event. I found myself NOT willing to watch the movie due to my understanding that the event mentioned more to me than just a watered down version of the truth of such a local matter here in New Zealand. And when TAME ITI & others were judged, criminalized & acted UNJUSTIFIED... Or were they!!???... that's the questions that needs asking or answering.
New Zealand's response to the world's changing behaviors & action regarding terrorism. As the Americans would say "Protect their land, from all foreign or domestic matters.
Understand or find understanding in your viewing of this doco.
Muru (2022)
I struggle to watch this...
I struggle to watch this...
Even when my brother started the movie, I found myself taking the dogs out for a ride to the dog parks.
NO QUESTION!, I'm sure the movie will be good. YET THIS EVENT, YHIS "HAPPENING"... WAS REAL!!!. To find it turned into a movie "based on actual events" is hard to swallow & accept.
This is a kiwi-story with VERY REAL CONSEQUENCES!!!... Surprisingly hard to believe that ACTUAL ACTIVISTS & local based on event, actually acted in the movie!.
I just finished watching the documentary "The Price of Peace" (2015, 83mins) in which TAME ITI is interviewed, followed & filmed during events in REAL court moments... THIS gives insight & understanding in such matters.
So NO, I don't favor this movie. Even with the masterful actors & performances. Because I KNOW MORE about the truth & subject to this story... Enjoy.
Black Adam (2022)
OH!, This movie could have been SO much better...
This movie was brilliantly played Dwayne The Rock Johnson. Definitely fits his status, his style, his charisma. And playing the character, recreated Black Adam as his own.
Dwayne Johnson's character lines made sense. He delivered his lines accordingly to his characters tortured past. Making us understand why the character is the way he is.
The setting of the story. The understanding why and how he reacts the way he does, giving us the emotional feelings to why a person should react in such scenarios.
The movie setting was excellent. No, it's not set in the USA. So it makes sense how one reacts & how one can understand the climate and time. Basically keeping it relevant in today's climate and issues. Reasoning for the PG13 rating. I believe, they could have pushed it more. Think how DEADPOOL was able to push and succeed on its own. That we're Black Adam could have gone. And I bet, it would have killed.
I look forward to the next BLACK ADAM 2 movie.
Now, what didn't work: The speed in pushing these characters on audiences they have no clue who these people are!. And you expect us to understand why, in guessing, how they are.
Comic relief and timing was terrible!. Again some of the characters we have no understanding for. Meaning they made the sea mistakes and repeated it. Example:. Justice League.
Having said all that, enjoy the movie.
Misery (1990)
One of the best flicks still.
One of the best movies of it's time. It still holds its own, even in today's viewing and rewatching the flick years later.
Recently I was ask to watch a somewhat horror flick. And finding the stupidness in the predictably and the obvious so-called horror and reasons why the flick is so predictable.
It's amazing how Stephen King can come up with so so many mind bending horrors and twisted ways of thinking. You gotta love the idea that he can put pen to paper. Challenging ones thoughts and likely thinking to horror-thriller style.
You gotta admit, the simplest story comes across so relatable that it just doesn't miss a beat to excellence.
Misery the movie, is not far from a likely truth. Thinking one could push the envelope to a likely scenario.
Enjoy your viewing.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021)
Second movie of VENOM could have been so much more.
Second movie of VENOM could have been so much more.
VENOM is a Bad-Guy, yet to the movie has him in a controlled style with the host. The comedy could have been push up more with alittle more explicits here and there. I'm thinking in the added style of "Deadpool" to this flick.
The comedy between VENOM and host should have been pushed out more to give that verbal banter between then with the added adult style comedy.
The battle between good and bad should have been pushed more with the twist and understanding internal battle reasons why one wants to win. I'm thinking in the style today of the "Black-Adam" movie to date.
Seeing the movie did financially well in theaters, was never the question. But making a good movie into a great movie is only in my thinking.
Enjoy.
The Right One (2021)
It was in there! Just not quite there.
Great story idea. All of the makings of something fun, loving, learning and romantic.
The chemistry seemed a little flat. Not exactly there in my opinion. And from time to time I felt irritated by the sound of one's voice and stupid liners from the delivery of one's script in the movie. Did the purposely do that? Or was it the delivery from one's acting skills?. I don't know how and what to make of it.
The underlying subject is not easy. And to deal with such matters takes skills and understanding in addressing likely trauma.
More exposure from other parties would have likely added more drama and given more picture and emotional expression to this "wanna be better" flick.
Enjoy.
Greenland (2020)
When the world looks like ending, get stupid or desperate.
Always interesting to see a scenario when people get the feeling the world is ending. Always amazing how true the behaviour of people in likely situations.
Watching movies like this always makes me see how issues arise and get worse due to decisions that people make. Seeing who's fault it is when people make it worse. If only they listened. Or if only they followed the right path where they didn't make it worse.
I'm not a hater, yet seeing the same dam thing causing the same dam problem...
See!, One does get invested in a movie where it makes you think.
That's the question when it comes to human behaviour and one's ability to survive and who one survives for.
It also asks the person, what is one willing to give up and who for.
Have fun watching.
The Man from Earth: Holocene (2017)
Seeing a sequel is always interesting...
Sequel to the first movie I believe. Having the storyline moving in a similar direction.
Story goes as expected, heading in the same reply to the issues a "Forever Man" can.
Great seeing some return characters to connect with past story. It's somewhat "again" explains the dilemma one has in no ageing.
Movie with students finding a secret that they should have not. But the movie goes off the mark in a few places in the movie.
First part when they tazer him and believe they could handle the issues on there own. Possible at a point until you say to yourself... "GET LOST". But the parts that really get to me in the "Questions in the basement" scene is not so the issue. But the part where the returned students with the professor come to find a empty damaged chair and blood on the floor. And NOT calling the cops was the issue.
Yet enjoyed last surprise scene at the door though.
Coming 2 America (2021)
What the "F" did I waste my time watching...
I totally wasted my time watching this muck of a movie!. I can't believe AMAZON approved the making of this mess of a movie.
They didn't even keep to a standard that the first movie set. It's great seeing all the old characters from the first and yet THAT couldn't even saving the flick. The storyline was weak. The performances was sad and endlessly boring. Infact, I could wait for the movie to finish!. IT BORED THE CRAP OUT OF ME!.
Wesley Snipes couldn't save it.
The story was sad and uninspiring. Even the romantic element was unoriginal. And like I said before, the performances killed me with boredom.
I NEVER wanna see this flick again.
Remind me of Eddie Murphy's, Beverly Hills Cop 3... THAT was crap to watch too.
The Love Guru (2008)
Funny and Fun...
It's Funny and Fun!
In a new age where EVERYTHING can be offensive. Take it for what it is... Humour!.
So many funny moments that I can't define which is funnier... So I say the whole dam thing is enjoyable, witty and smart.
Great choice of characters. From bombshell to hunks. From genius to idiot. Then you have the smart plays on words and phrases. And don't forget the guest star cameos.
Stupid little person jokes and romantic funnies. Play on a black hockey player having an influence and encouraging young man playing hockey in a basketball court... Funny.
I can't stop laughing, and I enjoy revisiting the movie over and over again.
SCREW what anybody says... Have fun watching the movie and escape to funny.
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008)
If Rachel Weisz couldn't return... They should of killed her of.
In my opinion...
The movie would have been better of, if they killed of Rachel Weisz character if she was unwilling to return. Because she is so iconic, and not to mention, irreplaceable in the roll.
The actor that plays the kid was SO irritating. And remembering the kid in last movie, he spoke undefined with an English accent. Because the irritating American accent, just didn't fit for me. And i find it hard for to relate or even wanna like him.
In saying that, it is a challenge for any 3rd film trilogy, to improve and a big ask to better. Yet finding the movie fun, over the top and in a different direction for a MOMMY series.
Good having Brendan Fraser and John Hannah reprising their role in the movie franchise.
Enjoy the movie for what it is.
Samaritan (2022)
Kid friendly understanding...
Good movie for a family setting with maturity awareness. But what if it could have been better...
The issue for me is that it could have been way more, if they kept it true to the style and era of it's time based on storyline and events in the movie. It does kind of ending up being too predictable, kid friendly intone, and in repeating the same old story lines, like past hero like movies. The obvious tone of a kid being the reason for change and saving like past hero movies. For that reason why, ones understanding how other people rated this movie as wanting more in my opinion.
Think of it this way, if you bumped it up to a Deadpool style movie (minimise the cheesy jokes), this could have be a huge win for superhero style movies. And it could have changed the game!.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III (1993)
Fun like a movie should be...
Third instalment to the franchise. Funny how it got the lowest rating out of the three flick's. STOP OVER THING IT!... IT'S A FUN MOVIE FOR LAUGH'S!.
You forget it's a turtle ninga movie. You forget they are mutated. You forget they are TALKING TURTLE'S!!!... WHAT THE HELL!, ENJOY THE FLICK!.
I love the fact that the turtles have fun where ever they are. The energy is positive and the one-liners are fun.
Go-on, snap out of it and chill..
COWABUNGA DUDE!
Xanadu (1980)
Enjoyed ONLY for music and dance...
As a movie, it gets a rating of 4 or less. Because it's shockingly terrible on story and some of the acting... BUT for musical and dancing, I give it a rating of 7+. Because it's a FUN WATCH, enjoying the singing and dancing performances!.
Taking from the fact that this is a movie from the mid+ 70s... You gotta remember that music and dance was shifting from all sides. From hippy to disco to funk, to WATEVA the future was bringing.
Predicting the future is not an easy thing to do. So enjoy the sounds, enjoy Gene Kelly, and enjoy the recent late Olivia Newton-John.
Grease (1978)
Gotta love the music...
Not the greatest movie out there story wise. But the music and dancing is fun and entertaining. Obviously that's the reason for the high score is based on.
It's funny that for some reason growing up from a late 70s era... This movie sooo so made it into, the likes of family movie scene enjoyment!. Even with all the sexual reference's overlooked.
Funny how school plays are made and accepted and performed.
Just recently with the passing of Olivia Newton John, I'm sure around the world people revisiting Grease all over again paying tribute do that incredible voice of hers.
Rest easy Olivia Newton John.
#WithRespects.
The Jane Austen Book Club (2007)
Definitely a chick flick...
I have little knowledge on Jane Austen, apart from the movies & discussions of her stories.
This movie is definitely catered to women's ego and the movie surrenders to women's massaged thoughts and feelings. The "feel-good" notion stretches and supports the dreamy eyed troubles related with the females involved.
Good luck finding a straight man believing in the fantasy and the depiction in been involved in such a group involvement.
Did I give to much???... correct me if I did.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022)
Keeping it simple & in-line with Star Trek...
Much enjoyed first session series.
I'm no Krazy fan & yet the whole premise keeps in-line with the original ST-series style with the modern upgrades here and there.
Enjoying the diversity without having it in your face. Keeping performances fair and professional without being overly dramatic is very good and my opinion.
I'm even enjoying the direction where hopefully the show connects with the original shows making.
Looking forward to season 2 for 2023 and looking to see how they will incorporate more stories with the timeline.
Thankyou.
