Anniyan (2005)
What do you get when you mix a bit of Indian and Mudhalvan?
To begin with Shankar's movie can be a instant mega impressive or not but might still be worth watching with the time, later as time evolves, the movie would become unwatchable. With some many good reviews for this, I decided to watch the first day first show with an idea if the movie was not so good either, I could always go for new skillful actor Vikram, I wasn't disappointed with the movie but saw little similarities with Shankar's previous movies Indian, Mudhalvan. The story is no different, he tries to convey his dream of having India a super better place to live. Without giving out too much about movie, it is real hard to review this movie but to say worth watching. The story begins with a central character Ramanujam aka Ambi aka Rules Ramanujam owing to his ability to do everything by rules and regulations, a real hard to see honest lawyer which is ironic due to the fact that all lawyers everywhere are considered "scum bags". Ramanujam is honest but likes a girl from his childhood but is too scared to say it out and has been locking his feelings, suppression causes "Remo" to come out and romance for few out of sequence songs. O boy did that song remind me of "Azhagana Rakshisi from Mudhalvan". Well while this goes on, Anniyan comes out to prevent the wrong doings happening in the country. Who is Anniyan, Remo, Ramanujam, watching the movie will only tell. Please have a open mind to watch the movie, don't go by anyone's opinion as you will never know? Enjoy Aniyan while cherishing acting of Vikram and Prakash Raj. Comedy by Vivek as usual rocks. Worth watching at least once?
Mahanadhi (1994)
Not all movies can be this one
As the summary suggests, not all movies can be like Mahandi. This is a movie of different caliber. I personally never had a chance to watch this movie to appreciate its content until the movie was played on TV. This movie is worth watching for its songs, Kamal Hassan's acting, entire crew who made a very serious movie happen. The movie begins with a respected small town man Krishna played by Kamal Hassan with his perfect family minus his wife. His two kids Cauvery(played by Mahanadi Shobana), Bharani(Notice all the character names are rivers in India). Having met his Childhood friend , he is allured into living in a bigger city. Decides to start a business in big city with wrong people. The wrong people really screw his life, he ends up in prison for the false charges of fraud. He has hard time in Prison with his honesty, having completed his term he if out of the prison to find out his kids are missing, act of Wrong people. Watch this movie to find out what really happens next , does he find his kids ? Music is worth listening, has got a touch of folk and classic. Worth watching. Alls well ends well... is it? Alls not well doesn't end well? Find out more than debating the correctness of previous statement.
Raaja Paarvai (1981)
Blind Man sees world through Love.
Having established as hardworking non typecast Actor, Kamal again delivers a gem of a acting as a blind violinist. Madhavi rich girl mistakes him only to realize his blindness, befriends and eventually falls in love with him. Comedy from YG Mahendra is worth watching. As some one earlier remarked made before the audience we ready, absolutely true. Even to-date, I am not bored watching this same movie with its variety of scenes, Absolute Brilliant Music score by Illayaraja. You would love to hear "Andhi Mazhai", what I like the most is another slow song titled "Azhagai". Kamal takes it up a notch by acting as a blind person, making audience believe he is really blind. With love blossoming between a beautiful girl and blind musician, society isn't ready for it and so is not girls father. With every body having their own agenda to avert marriage/reunion will they reunite? See the climax to find out what happens... I will definitely give a thumbs up to watch and enjoy this movie and appreciate it.
Sigappu Rojakkal (1978)
Worth watching
As much as I wanted to watch this movie as a kid, I never did but managed to watch it ultimately. This movie is about a misogynist and his hatred for women. His childhood incidents have made him to hate women and has been feeding on hatred. The title "Sigappu Rojakal" means Red roses signifies the women he goes after kills them and every women deserves a red rose. Bharathi Raja did direct this movie trying to bring negative character in Kamal and succeeded quiet a bit. Sridevi plays a beautiful lady sales clerk at a garment store to fall for Kamal's charm to be married to find out about him. It is race of He knows, she knows, but He knows She does not know what he knows. Time will tell in a excellent thriller of movie, I call it a thriller with the time the movie was made in, a different topic from usual type of movies the same year. Never has any actor tried negative role early in his career to find it turn as a success and bank of having done variety of role, Kamal rocks, so does Sri Devi. Will conclude by saying worth watching at least once...
Ninaithale Inikkum (1979)
Enjoy it
One of good films made by K Balachander, he is awesome as a director , knows how to make actors do their part right. This movie revolves around a musical troupe. Kamal as lead singer and Rajnikanth as guitarist. With association of Singapore Tamil sangam they make a trip to Singapore, where Kamal runs into manipulative, captivating girl and is crazy about her. One thing you cant get out of her is straight answer even if the question would have a yes or no. Having fallen for her. Music is awesome, you will particularly enjoy high energy song "Sivasamboo" filmed on Rajnikanth taking guitar and dancing his hearts out. One of better films of Kamal-Rajni duo, the pillars of Tamil cinema(80s, 90s era). Jayapradha is captivating. What happens is for you folks to watch and find out.
Avargal (1977)
Avargal is awesome
Avargal is movie about a lady trying to fight her way to life. Married to egoist in a male dominated society makes married life for Anu a living hell. She tries to live single mothers life working fighting for her rights. She leaves Bombay to start fresh life in Madras, only to find out her ex-husband is the new boss. She fights her way out of obstacles created by her new boss. Kamal is good, Rajnikanth excels , probably one of few movies you will see Rajnikanth act his heart out , Sujatha is awesome, overall a good movie. Appreciate Balachander's thinking for women. The thought is well advanced for a movie well made in 70's. Excellent Music, well acted cast, Good screen play.
Pathinaru Vayathinile (1977)

This movie revolves around 16 year old Mayil played by Sridevi. Owing to her 16 year old a local vet hangs out with her later to ditch her for a homely girl. After Mayil is deserted, there are only two people in her life, Parattai (played by Rajnikanth) and Chappani(Played by Kamal Hassan). When Parattai sees opportunity of attaining her Chappani acts in.
