Re: Mind (2017)
No:mind indeed
I only went through first episode, the acting is terrible. I now know why Japan produce Anime instead of shows because their actresses are horrible. The story so far make no sense at all to the point it is laughable.
One can't talk unless she shake the hand of her friend. Another slide her phone 5 times to move the screen up maybe 50 pixels. Show the photo to her friend but electricity go out and guess what so does the phone screen. When the lights back one of them wonder if there was a blackout.
5minutes before the end one say she feels something bad going to happen and her friend ask why would you think that.
Matbe being captive and tied give that kind of feeling. The first thing people do if they woke up with a hoodie on their head is try to feel around or better screem at the girl next to you because you want to sleep more. Never try to remove it.
The whole thing is a disaster.
The Guilty (2021)
Meh ... Slow and full of weird choices
Acting is terrible in my opinion. All the wrong choices that could have been done were achieved by the main character. It makes no sense.
Argue with everyone around him, victims, boss, colleagues.. get important info, keep talking on phone instead of passing it. Ask police to break into someone's house, call his ex at 2am then ask why you want to hang up. Call the assumed suspect and shout and trash him. Way to control the situation. Hear a dog barking, ask what happened. Hear policeman talk about wether the baby breathing, ask him what happened.
Cause a major accident on highway and I thought smart he will know the location from other calls. Next caller he ask him to hang up because he is busy.
Probably killed the kid because he said the f word to him, as the poor guy who called for help.
Deadtectives (2018)
A wonderful gem for its genre
Remember this is a comedy horror movie. Dont expect a masterpiece thriller and you will be astonished by the quality of this movie.
I absolutely loved it, it's hilarious, with good cast good story.
Won't spoil it just watch it if you like comedy horror, it's one of a kind much better than most movies in this genre even much big production / budget.
Color Out of Space (2019)
The harsh high pitch sound was the worst
Very little spoilers.
Yeah it wasn't Nicolas Cage acting that deserved such a low score. It was the sound that kept going on and on and on... High pitch sound with loud volume designed to ruin your hearing apparently to make you forget how bad and messed up this movie.
The movie is mediocre at best. Nothing nice or amazing. Cage acting as Cage acts. Always crazy in mysterious way that made it hard to know when he actually supposed to be crazy.
The witchcraft was shoved in the plot.
I seriously have no idea if the mother had cancer or not, nothing makes sense.
I would have enjoyed it as a b rated if it wasn't for that damn sound.
The Forest (2016)
I really enjoyed it. Well almost until the end
I will keep this spoiler free.
This movie is quite good imo. They kinda did a good job. Kinda is because of the ending. Feels like they needed to add the twist or surprise and they forced it at the end.
All they had to do was to stop the movie like 7 minutes short and that would be quite interesting ending and suited for the story.
Nonetheless I actually was entertained.
Apostle (2018)
So lame and irrational
This movie is terrible. The main character seems stuck in one facial expression during the whole movie except for the first 10 minutes. The story is stupid and changes abruptly with no justification for the viewer. The director used the stupidest ways to make things work for the hero meanwhile you sit and wonder. An example is when the good guy is in tunnel and the enemy waiting for him at the end. The enemy sees the light coming up the exit, yet he waits. When the good guy is alerted and leaves and one of the gangster comes with a light the enemy opens fire, gotta give credit though that no one was hurt during that. The same case goes on and on. A guy sees his son dead by the hand of his colleague. He gets mad and !! He leaves to kill a monster?? The hero who was on the run sees a boy being captured by 4 gangster. Instead of interfering there or leave it be. He returns to the village and become captured, a boy murdered brutally and slowly yet he doesn't scream or cry or react. He simply lay there....And there is loads of these cases that make me think. Is this a college project that was done at the last day by amateurs? So bad I can't even finish this and walking away with 30 minutes to spare.
IO (2019)
Seriously why!
I know someone already asked the same, go read his review. How is this a movie I have no idea. The story can be told (omitting the stupid fake facts they tried to come up with) in about 10 min. And that includes the dialogues in this movie between the 2 characters. And guess what those dialogues weren't the most brain engaging ones. Need to see ur father. He is out on a trip, He is dead, buried next to my mom, I will take u with me, ok, need helium, there is plenty lets go, there is a lot of helium, Yes I know. Leaving in 1 hour. Im not going with you. And the grand finale... I won't burn that but it is worthless. As with that trash they called a movie.
Death Note (2017)
go see the anime.
So this anime is one of the amazing gems of psychological thrillers. the movie took that chewed it and spit it on the floor and pi**ed on it then introduced us with the result.
in short forget this and go see the anime seriously there is no comparison. this seems like a 10 years old adaptation to the original 10 days after seeing it so he forgot it and started to try to add things up and making a story on his own.
to make things better I think it was a good idea for the movie to make this a prequel to the anime easily by changing the names since everything about the characters is so different. sadly the movie makers failed at that so I took liberty to add that assumption to make this movie bearable, However the movie failed big time in the story, the direction, the acting the cheap camera tricks, CGI,.... and so on.
at the end of that supposed to be suspense of this movie I was waiting hoping to see some scenes in the credit that would attempt to lift it, yet I was shocked with scenes of the characters laughing while continuing the same song from the last scene oddly enough. which seemed appropriate as they were laughing at us the viewers who wasted their time and money on this crab.
Light is super smart boy loved in the class and didn't kill for fun. he and L dueled through the anime and even collaborated and it was a master piece.
here he is a bullied boy who doesn't seem to be able to handle his anger killing a guy for bullying others as a mere test.
L was a candy lover (wow they got this right) weirdo who is also super smart and a good rival to Kira, he could keep his emotions away in the anime and not being controlled by them. he suspected light but never threatened him or attacked him he played mind games and that was entertaining.
Ryuk was board and he was curious about what Light and L will do, he didn't hate Light like we see here.
and Kira sure enough couldn't give orders to guys on the phone as he did in the movie.
zero character development, if anything they become worse overtime instead of improving. and Light being scared in school was really lame.
Temple (2017)
sad so sad
This movie had great potentials. it looks like a typical Japanese thriller which is great, and cinematography is good but that's where the fun ends. the acting was dreadful. Kate was so out of character and flat. Chris was okaying , so is the boyfriend. the story though lost it's closure. and no this is not the typical way of Japanese thriller. they leave a mystery but don't simply cut the story right when you think something is going to finally happen. the end is terrible and confusing. you don't know who killed who, why did Chris attacked the translator and did he escape or what happened to him. is there a ghost or is it only Chris. what happened to the children. was the monk bad or good. why would Kate decide to look for her bf in a mine while he was going to town. more and more questions that we needed to know but the film makers were so tired maybe and decided to end it prematurally. forget about all those fake 10&9 stars rate. there is no end and that's really terrible.
Inferno (2016)
What a waste
Don't get me wrong the original story is amazing. Many twists in the blot and the ending is superb. This movie decided to ditch all that. It immediately made things clear that W.H.O is trying to capture the professor. And then they decided to add the boring twist of one corrupt agent who wanted to sell the virus as a weapon. The impression I got that the script writer got the news that he has to write the movie script so he bought the book to see what it was about. He started reading the first chapter and drinking his wine along the book to the degree he woke up the next morning with a terrible memory of what he wrote and few notes of the first chapters as he was sober then. He started to make things up and mess with the story till the end which he seems he never even read and thought sure the virus wouldn't spread and kill half the human race!! So the hero saves the day and the villain dies!!!! PS. If u haven't read the end yet pls do yourselves a favor and read the novel.
The result were a very detailed ( and longer than it should be) representation of the first chapters then it went into terrible ride. He had to change the amnesia status. The clues and the details of every part of the story. Add a love background between Dr. Langdon and the WHO head. He had to pack the story and cut things because of limited time. Yet many movies reach 3 hours long with no problem. No idea why the makers decided to limit the time to 2 hours. And then fill the space with the repeated scenes in the beginning or add those hideous blots to a great story.
Seriously this looks like a 10 year old summary of the novel and he messed the story and altered the end just to fail his friends who had an exam about this novel. 2 stars is more than this piece of mess is worth IMHO.
The Tortured (2010)
awful acting and directing
this is the worst acting and directing I've seen in a while. while the parents should be in grief, they act like they simply read the lines given to them. the director which should have notice this, was busy with flashbacks trying to build the drama which doesn't work, since the actors lack the human feelings and how to express them. whether in grief, shock, aftershock or revenge. overall this movie fails to deliver drastically in acting, where the actors don't give the feeling that they know what happened, but that they are just acting along the current situation. I felt one of them might crack a joke in the middle of torture as they don't know how to act or react to their position. there are some scenes where blood and pain is the main feature. and I guess that is the only link to Saw the movie. I guess that explains why it got 5.5 score at the moment of writing.
this movie is not worth watching in my opinion especially with the acting being so dull. I think it had the potential but the director didn't even bother with it. even the climax at the end had more to expand with the truth revealed but again they didn't bother.
