Dexter: New Blood: Sins of the Father (2022)
Don't get all the hate
This last season was excellent, really really enjoyed it. Some people were clinging on the idea they really were going to make another season with Harrison and Dexter in Los Angeles?? That was never what this reboot was about. They just wanted a better ending, and in my opinion they did it. It was poetic that Harrison killed his dad, a dad that had destroyed his life from the very moment he was born. Or even before he was born. Dexter knew at the end the only way he could let his son be free was to die. I am not really sure what else people wanted to happen or how they would have been happy for this to have ended. But I think it would have been ridiculous had he managed to escape yet again and live the sweet life in California. Too many people knew who he was now, they would have just tracked him down. So it was be killed, or go to prison...and be executed. As for all of a sudden being reckless, that is what love can do to you no? He just wanted to be with his son, but in the end he realised his son needed him to be dead...
Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021)
Good, but not great. No way its better than Ghostbusters 2!
The problem with IMDB is that it isn't very old. So the older classics are sometimes given lower scores as they are not fresh in people's mind. Ghostbusters 2 gets so much hatred and I never understand it. The villain is amazing and so menacing. And the film is light hearted but also pretty creepy at points. What does that have to do with this film? Well this has 7.6 and Ghos 2 has 6.6. This film was good, but no way in hell its better than Ghostbusters 2. The kids were good, but when was Ghostbusters a film about kids? Kids just aren't as funny as adults. It is not a bad film at all, and considering it was mostly kids it was OK. They did a very good job. But again, Ghostbusters was never a film about kid Ghostbusters. It just isn't as good.
Ghostbusters II (1989)
What is wrong with everyone?!
I have just finished watching Ghostbusters and I just cannot understand why this sequel is so hated or at least under appreciated. This is one of my favourite films. Imho I actually think this is a superior film to the first one. The bady is really creepy, to the point when I was a kid I was actually scared of him. The painting is menacing and done so well to really have a creepy vibe about it. The scene in the underground when they shout their names and then the heads appear, creepy as hell. Its just as funny as the first. Music is just as good as as the first too. All I can see is people hating the slime. I guess I can kind of get it, but not really. I think it is quite a nice idea, and is etheric. I think both of these films are two of the best comedies ever made. This film is never a 6.6. Jesus you nutters are giving marvel films 8.something. Are you fu%King kidding me!?
Contact (1997)
Most intelligent alien film ever made
There are so many ridiculous alien films around. Aliens, capable of traversing the unimaginable depths of space, something that we are centuries, at least, of doing ourselves.
The level of intelligence this takes is therefore beyond anything we know on planet Earth.
Therefore if like most alien films would have you believe they are solely intent on our death, it would be like us killing ants. They would wipe us out with ease. However it seems incredibly unlikely that as a species that could posses such interlect, they would still be as ignorant and moronic as they people on this planet. That war and all forms of violence would simply be beyond them.
Contact is a infinitely more likely scenario. It's a beautiful story, well acted and so cleverly written. The best film about aliens ever made
The House with a Clock in Its Walls (2018)
Great 'older' kids film
Yea OK so it's not suitable for 5 year olds. But did people forget the meaning of pg? Is it a U? Pg means parental guidance. I.e. Parents go watch it first, alone, the see if its suitable for your children. What did you think pg meant??
I watched it with my 11 year old daughter and she loved it. She got bit scared in parts, but not massively, and all in all she loved it.
It's the perfect mesh from kids film, to adult horror film. It's entertaining enough for an adult, while slightly mysterious, and for a 10 year old it's a just scary enough without going too far.
For those of you giving this one star because your kids were too scared. Grow up and lean what pg means. And the next pg you're thinking of seeing, go see it first, alone!
