Doctor Who: Dark Water (2014)
Hide behind the Couch goodness
There was a peacefulness and quietness that marked the beginning of Dark Water with Clara and Danny picking up where they left off from Forest of the Night with Clara finding a way to tell Danny the whole truth. this peacefulness is promptly ripped away from Stephen Moffat. We then witness a Doctor Who companion n go properly mad and begin a treasure hunt throughout the Tardis for the seven keys with the mission of destroying the keys. Clara implores the Doctor that time can be rewritten. The Doctor replies that there are consequences and tells Clara that she should go to Hell. She replies that she probably deserved that and starts to exit the Tardis. The Doctor inquires of Clara where is she going because they are taking the Tardis to Hell.
We are greeted upon the arrival of the Tardis in the Nethersphere by Missy surrounded by skeletons. Moffat pulls at your emotional heart strings to figure out what happened to Danny Pink. We also want a resolution to who exactly is Missy and the purpose of the Nethersphere. We receive a chilling revelation about what happens to humans when they reach the Nethersphere.
Moffat being the master of misdirection occupies our attention with the Danny/ Clara drama. We also find out too late about the true nature of the Skeletons which turns out to be an old menace. Finally, the Doctor and Clara discover the true identity of the mysterious Missy. The viewer is left at the end of the episode by Moffat in a place of mortal peril and many left hiding behind their couch.
The Big Bang Theory: The Hook-up Reverberation (2014)
The Battle of the Bubbals
The main focus of this episode was supposed to be the origins of another cat fight between Emily and Raj's imaginary Ex, Penny. However, I found that the far more interesting dust up is between the two Bubblahs, Howard and Stuart. Howard is feeling rejected because his mother is treating Stuart like the son she never had. This relationship is like a pressure cooker waiting to explode and I can only imagine the hilarious results once it occurs.
The guys intention to invest in a comic book store is a two-fold of comedy gold. It was just hysterical watching the guys come up with different plans for attracting kids to the comic book store without having a clue except for Leonard about the Creepy Candy coating around their plan. The other side was that it was so funny to watch the guys to have to consult with their various spouses.
Once again, I was kind of disappointed that the show recycled the old girlfriend hating Penny story line aka Priya. I would have found it so more satisfying if Raj had confessed that he had feelings previously for Bernadette.she would have been a more formidable romantic rival for Emily. Overall, an amazing episode with laughs from beginning to end.
Doctor Who: Kill the Moon (2014)
There should have been chocolate at least in the moon!
This started out to be a promising episode of Dr. Who. However, quickly Went downhill from the beginning. I really would've loved to find out what had happened to the astronauts who could come before and why there we're spiders on the moon. However, what I got was a morality play about humans making choices. That would have not been so bad if the science was so outlandish. There is no possible way that the people of Earth and more than twenty astronauts would not have known that something was growing in the moon. As soon as an asteroid hit the moon then the "egg" would have cracked open and the mayfly would have escaped. Then there are the inconsistencies within the series itself. The Doctor had previously visited the moon in his tenth incarnation to fight the Judoon, and never detected any inconsistances and the second doctor fought the Cybermen on the moon with no indication of a life form inside the moon. Finally, the Dr. Who adventure, Waters of Mars, occurred 10 years after the supposed date of the events of last nights episode which supposedly occurred in 2049. Dr. stated that people there had abandoned the space program. My question is if humanity had abandoned space travel then how could they have put together a Mars Colonization program in under 10 years.Doctor Who used to be destination television for me but at this point I am just hoping that 12s regeneration is a short one and that if there is a season nine that it is a drastic improvement over the current series.
Forever (2014)
The mystery of the Forever Man
I thought that this show was going to be gimmicky and Ioan Goffuld is not my favorite actor. But after watching the first 10 minutes of the I was definitely hooked because of the wide range of engaging characters, Judd Hirsch you kick butt. I honestly did not see it coming when it was Explain why Goffuld and Hirsch have a special relationship. There is the mystery of why Henry Morgan became the Forever man and how he can end his curse. But the drama gets kicked up a notch by the fact that Henry Morgan needs to keep others from learning his secret or risk becoming a lab rat. I got hooked by that phone call that Henry gets at the beginning and end of the show. It is somewhat like your typical cop show with unusual cases, just like Castle and in the same vein, there is a mystery that affects the life of the main character. But the main difference is that Henry's past will come back to haunt him.
