Avengement (2019)
Super fun action movie
Pretty much non stop action with a hint of comedy. Movie wasted no scenes and every scene fit perfectly into the movie.
I can't think of a better recent action movie I've seen.
Blade Runner 2049 (2017)
Very Slow and Boring Movie
I give this movie 2 and the rating of 2 is that the movie did a great job with product placement. The movie excelled in getting their sponsors more advertising bang for their dollars.
Then its really chuck in a few big stars like Gosling, Ford who go through a storyline thats already been told.
The movie goes for like 2 hours and a half, you probably can have more fun watching the grass grow. I was checking the cinema and most people were playing with their phones. Quite a few people left early.
The storyline is boring and its more of a 'lets tick of all the boxes' to appease to all demographics. I'd like to go into this more and explain why its so bad, but I don't want to spoil it for the rest who are going to waste their $.
For me this movie was a waste of $15 and $8.50 for popcorn. You'd be better off waiting a few months and get it for free.
The Fate of the Furious (2017)
Worst furious of the lot
I've seen all of the fast movies from 1-7. This one would have to be the worst. The storyline and character depth looks cheap and rushed.
How did they end up in Cuba(and Toretto has family there) movie doesn't even go into that. Then out of nowhere a drag race happens and a stock car gets thrown in with nos and weight reduction (against the fastest car in all of Cuba) That is really stretching it! Then the car manages to win on fire and backwards!!! thats ridiculous
Moving on, we go to a soccer field and high level police officer is now a soccer coach, and he has a daughter(no reference of that before, no storyline of how that happened) and suddenly this banned police officer is asked to do a super high level job. No storyline of other people unavailable or he is the only man for the job.
Now suddenly he gets a crew, we don't know anything about this crew, what they have been up to, but they suddenly just pop in.
out of the blue, Toretto meets an agent, who forces Toretto to work for her and Toretto can't tell anyone. OK so its a son, (but previously he had no knowledge of a son, he is in love with his main girl(who just shared an intimate moment) Who he fought so hard to get, like for 2 movies. Now he just drops everything and decides to turn his back against his girl, friends, country and everything for his baby. (Highly unrealistic) Especially since he calls his friends family. So rather than let them in, trying to help me, he goes against them. Totally out of character based on movies 1-7...
So he then does it and goes against, his supposedly FAMILY and almost kills one of his best friends.
Then after an action scene, one of the good guys ends up in jail with one of the bad guys. They are convinced to join forces in a minute. I mean so easily, they decide to work with each other. These are two guys that tried desperately to kill each other. Now they are best buddies at a drop of a hat.
another weird scene, his the mother of his child, who he turned against his family for dies and yet Toretto barely shows any emotion. Like it barely happened.
It really just gets worse and worse after that, movie keeps jumping with unbelievable scenarios. With nuclear submarines, launch codes thrown into the mix.
Is this fast 'n' furious or is it a team trying to save the world.
its become so far fetched now, that I don't even know if I want to bother watching the next one.
Bastille Day (2016)
Good Action Movie
I think the 6 rating is not deserved, better than other action movies with higher ratings.
I was on my seat for most of the film. There wasn't too many boring parts as the movie was fast paced. It was interesting to see Madden who is from Game of Thrones, he looked familiar but I didn't realise it was him until after the film
The acting was good by Idris, no typical annoying clichés like: -> doing this for a relative -> 30 trained people shooting, but no one can hit a target. -> love interest to tap into a different demographic.
I think could have been a 10, if the movie had a less predictable ending.
The Hunger Games (2012)
Battle Royale Clone
The first one is really copying Battle Royale, has hardly any original ideas.
For instance - Set on a small deserted island - The government chooses a bunch of kids that will kill each other - The winners are the two lovers, who fight against everyone else - There are explosions and disasters that put everyone into the same area - The winner is the last one standing and gets to go free - The deaths are announced to all the competitors - Characters that love killing that are volunteers
The part of Battle Royale where they televise the deaths, this was taken from "The Condemned" low budge film that no one probably watched. Which also pits a number of adults and taps into the concept of televising contestants against each other.
Do we remember, Running Man.
Jarhead 2: Field of Fire (2014)
best war movie for 2014
Sometimes there are patches when you get bored in a movie however this movie was quite action packed and there was a few scenes that surprised me. As you normally can predict who lives and who dies.
totally different from the first one, which I felt was a little boring and not as action packed. I like the part where the Seal joins in and said that Afghanistan is the hardest army to defeat in the world.
Which has some truth to it and it also goes into the lives of what some of the afghan army are really thinking and what its its kind of like to be one, which is you don't see a lot of.
I would say this movie is a lot closer to reality than other war movies where everyone is jumping into live bullets (indispensables) and where the opposing army can't shoot or hurt their enemy.
However they could have done a little more in that regards as there still appears to be too much cowboys even though they touched on that one scared soldier.
I Am Soldier (2014)
better than most indestructible war movies out there
Better than a lot of other war movies out there, when everyone is diving into bullets and everyone seems invisible.
The fight looks believable, the only issue for me was the plot, that could have done with some more work.
The romance was a bit unbelievable and didn't really seem to blend in well with the plot. The leading two characters were good but seem of the other young actors probably needed some work.
I thought the final parts of the movie was a bit rushed but don't want to give too much away. Overall, worth watching and although I did find it a little slow, nice look at what its like in the sas.
