Kaatru Veliyidai (2017)

Not what I expected

After the trailer and promos indeed it made me feel like this movie is gonna be amazing. But I was completely disappointed when I left the theatre. I know it will be slow and it's all about love. But I never knew there would be no story in this movie. This is not a review. Check others reviews if you want to know about this movie. I want to talk about what went wrong in this film. The audience these days do not want love films. That's the main thing. They definitely expect good songs. But they don't want an entire film to deal with romance. Comedy and thriller films have been doing well in tamil cinema. Mani Ratnam made the bench mark films for the all the present day directors but this film would have been better if the content in the film did not just deal with romance and rather something else. We all entered the theatre not for the sake of Karthi(even though he is good actor) but we went in to see the work Mani ratnam has done in this. I'm not comparing this to his previous works cause I hate comaprison but this as a whole film did not satisfy anyone cause it does not engage or connect well with the audience mindset. People should either relate a film to something that has happened or should probably learn about something that the movie maker wants to convey. That's how its working today. Anyhow. We all know what kind of director is Mani Ratnam. He was the best always. Maybe not this time. I'm sure his next film will satisfy all his fans and make his haters shatter.

Ps....Mani Ratnam said in an interview that he would love to have a full bound script from others and make that into a film. Probably it's high time he tries that.

Singam 3 (2017)

As expected and equally entertaining

Singam 3 The film is surely the first trilogy in tamil film industry. And making a trilogy series successful is something that only a director like Hari can do. Its the same old background story with a cop investigating a series of events and finds the culprit. But what makes the movie interesting is the screenplay. The movie goes in 4g speed. First let me clarify this. Many people have said the bgm and songs suck. Let me tell you the songs are way better than DSP's songs for the same series. And the bgm were actually good. But the only point is the bgm has been made loud to suit the scenes. Hari has indeed wanted that from harris but actually the bgm was good and suitable to those scenes. SURYA has done a neat job of portraying the role with the same characteristics. Anushka and Shruthi have just played the same role of how commercial heroines do in usual movies. It's only Hari and Surya who rock throughout the movie. Their combo definitely strikes the chord again. Watch it with your family and you will surely enjoy. Don't expect something new from it. It's the same old masala commercial film which will not make you upset when you leave the theatre

Remo (2016)

A very average and badly made rom com

I still cant believe that this movie has become successful now. Is it only because the other 2 movies which got released along with this was more worse. Anyways coming to Remo, this movie totally focuses on Siva and Siva alone. The other characters are only sub tracks who deserve nothing. A very old tale with an okay performance from Siva.(mainly because others sucked and he was at least better) Definitely he can do way better than this. But other wise this movie is just a crap. Boring and silly dialogues are written. I guess 2 or 3 scenes in that nurse getup were the only highlights of this movie. The director had just taken many instances from other films and made this. There was not even a single scene in this movie which was new and refreshing to watch. The next question is how come P.C.Sreeram and Resul Pookuty agreed to work in this film. The producer would have surely invested more for their salaries alone I guess. Because this story does not demand any such extreme talents. There is no strong reason why he wears the nurse role. Its a love at first sight, but mostly its stalking which has been glorified. The nurse voice was terrible. Seriously couldn't tolerate it. Instead of Siva himself dubbing for it, i guess some one else should have done it. Because the voice was that awful. No logic in the second half. He switches genders in seconds. He roams wearing expensive shirts but he shown as an uneducated jobless youth (which is again a curse to tamil cinema showing the hero as uneducated) . The fight scenes were only showing heroism which surely hard to accept from Siva. Certain heroes who are legends like Kamal and Surya themselves don't prefer much heroism in their movies and an actor who has just done some 8-9 films have fight scenes with heavy bgm and buildup(the usual buildup of showing the heroine helpless with the villains and out of no where the hero turns up making the baddies fly in air). Please guys we are living in 2016 and we expect some sensible film not some hero worship films. Heavy references of Rajini and the other two. If siva is a Rajini fan, he should propaganda that in his personal interviews and not in all his movies. People are surely sick of it.

Overall- A very average movie which is just being hyped even now with the so called box office collections. This movie is another example that if the box office collections are high, that does not mean the movie will be good . A very bad attempt. Expecting some sensible movie from Siva at least after this.

Irumugan (2016)

IruMugan-A Thriller that should have been one

Vikram has proved in every film that he can do anything in any way for just a movie. He proved that again in IruMugan. In any ways you can't blame him for any of his movies as he does his part properly and in fact excellently. The story is of course a mix of plenty of Hollywood movies. Of course we can watch those Hollywood kind of movies in tamil , it's obviously acceptable than the usual Vijay ajith kind of movies in tamil. But what anand shankar could cleared out is the logic loopholes which are plenty in the movie. And he could have written better dialogues as it never impresses you in any part of the movie. The scenes were fast paced in the first half even though there were songs kept in wrong places. But the second half actually turned out boring in many places. The love character was played brilliantly by vikram but the dialogues there could have been better as it seemed extremely normal. The bgm was extremely good in many places. Harris has proved that he is the king of melody in the movie again. Overall this movie is decent one time entertainer which could have been really better if it avoided the uncertain moments in it.

Kabali (2016)

Don't trust the critics- A non Rajini film

Let me begin by saying this is one Rajini movie without the usual Rajini elements. Loved each and every scene. Im not a Rajini fan and thats one of the main reason why I loved it. Pa Ranjith was criticized saying the movie's pace was slow. I would say its absolutely no. The movie was an intense gangster film. No body would have seen such an intense gangster film in tamil I guess. The main reason for people to give negative reviews are probably because of the hype this movie created. Everyone were prepared for a rajini film but it was a Ranjith film. The music was a big let down. Santhosh's bgm was terrible in many places and did not use Nerupu da properly. It was more of a class movie than a mass movie which will again gain a lot of city centred audience. But the movie should not have got "U" certificate, as the movie is completely filled with a humongous amount of violence in it. Still overall this movie is an intense gangster film which will entertain non Rajini fans more than Rajini fan. Loved ur work Ranjith

Iraivi (2016)

A nicely knit tale

First of all, one must have lots of guts to accept such a movie and also act really good in it. KS has done a clean screenplay i.e he has managed to make the screenplay understandable to all sort of audiences.Everyone had plenty of expectations before it got released because of his previous dual amazing movies. Few were disappointed after watching. Maybe because they expected a huge twist in the climax like Jigardhanda or Pizza...sorry boss this is not a thriller, its a drama. Few people said it had a lot of vulgar scenes. I would agree that it had few scenes which kids must surely not watch and could have been given a A certificate than a UA. But to show some reality, movie makers in India must do that. Sj surya was praised for his acting which he truly deserves because he did some sort of a good performance in it. Bobby Simha should improve more on his pronunciations as well as on his expressions. Vj sethupathi indeed did a good performance out there. But I wish he reduces his speed of dialogue delivery for better comprehending of what he is saying. Anjali at last has done a good performance which she should have done long ago. Cheenu Mohan was not credited much but his performance stands out even after you leave the theatre.Music was a bit good at times and a disaster at certain places. Please Santhosh try giving good singers with good voice some chance and don't sing all the songs on your own. Overall it is worth the watch. Go without expectations and you will surely like it. But please don't take kids to this movie cause you will be having a hard time watching it

24 (I) (2016)

Different and enjoyable yet expected more

24 had one of the best openings a movie could ever have. I just love the way it began, when it came to younger Surya, it was fun but on the other hand it did get irritating a bit

Performances- Surya has done a neat job as Mani and brilliant job as Athreya. Samantha could have dubbed for herself which would have made her role quite noticeable. Saranya really has done the same old role more better.

Positives- The fast paced screenplay and the amazing use of the concept time travel. Loved the way Athreya character was written. He was a really a smart villain after the other amazing Sidharth Abhimanyu. Brilliant bgm and songs. Arr at his best. Ending really was apt and proper

Negatives- I expected a more complex story or more of a sensible movie because the theme was time travel but I guess the director had to compromise and add some fantasy elements for the movie to reach the other class audiences. But the point is they never appreciate anything new, which is bain to Tamil films.

Overall- An enjoyable ride with brilliance in every field but could have added more sensible contents so that the intelligent audiences who thrive to watch a sensible Tamil movie could have enjoyed.

London Has Fallen (2016)

Clichéd But Still Entertains

I don't understand why people are being so political here. This is an action movie. In fact one of the best action movies this year. The CGI could have seriously been better cause its "Hollywood" but anyways through the movie there is something new and interesting happening. Even though we know where it will end and who and all will survive, still each and every scene turns out to be interesting. Banning surely has a style while shooting terrorists, surely works out. And could have avoided some unnecessary dialogues but still its fun and ought to be seen. The acting was quite casual and could have been more serious in the places where it should have been. But still a movie that every person can enjoy.

Theri (2016)

Not a bad attempt

If your a Vijay fan, then this movie is a treat. Me being neither a Vijay fan or ajith fan, still could enjoy this movies in certain scenes Positives- Vijay has kind of improved his acting. He is trying to push away his animated acting aside and pull up some natural acting. He does not try it every place but he does score in most of the scenes. The scenes before the interval are actually emotional, a bit melodramatic but still enjoyable. Samantha seems to score in certain places. But still kind of does over acting in the scene preceding her death. Radhika, I seriously wish she hadn't spoken rubbish in her tamil nadigar sangam campaign cause her acting scores like anything and really makes everyone who watches it emotional. Hope she reverts backs to herself by joining the new team and sort out her issues.Bgm does work out in many scenes. And in fact the bgm was not that loud and perfect for the scene. Nainika scores in almost eveyscene with her innocent dialogues and expressions Negatives Songs are a big let down. Cause the local don't actually makes us feel upset while watching in class theatres. Could have made a song like the opening song in Thupakki. Amy jackson was a complete statue piece. I don't know why the directors these days even prefer her for a role, in fact she was having her wooden face thought the movie. The scenes were ultimately predictable only because of the way it reminded us with various other tamil films. And sometimes it makes us wonder whether Vijay will do whatever ajith does. The way atlee has mixed up all the news articles that we read in newspaper makes us feel like watching something that we read everyday. At sometimes Vijay's animated acting pops up which makes us keep our head down. Overall what ever we say,even if we feel there is nothing great in the movie, still an enjoyable ride which also could have been shortened but still a jolly fun movie with right elements for his fans to burst out .

RangiTaranga (2015)

A new attempt

Tired of all the boring old masala flicks. This movie indeed is in a different track. The first plus point is location and theme set to the story. If this movie is going to be made in another language in I'm sure it won't be as successful as it was in Kannada. I'm a tamilian and I felt the entire movie will suit only for the language "kannada". The second plus point is the entire casting. The complete narration of the story is also a new attempt and creates different plot twists. The negatives are mainly the songs which disturb the thriller factor. The another point is the way many all twists are added to the main plot. It kind of makes us deviate from the plot. Which could have been avoided. The director needs to learn a lot of techniques in direction as the movie is still feels a bit amateur. Overall the writing of the movie is completely new and appreciative. But the direction could have been more crisp and could have avoided the unnecessary plot twists and make it a clear thriller.

Pasanga 2 (2015)

Pasanga 2- Fun movie which makes some sense

There was a huge hype created when Surya was about to be casted in the movie.And indeed the hype was paid off. Everyone who compared this with Taare Zameen Par ,I won't say that your absolutely wrong. But few scene did remind us about that movie. Maybe the reason because the kids deal with the similar kind of disease or because a mentor character like Amir Khan was required in this movie which Surya has played. The kids have done an excellent job. They have probably understood each and every dialogue given to them. Cause these scenes have come out indeed really well. And surya has also done a neat job. Even though the dialogs given to him make us feel that Surya is the only person on earth to understand kids. But anyways his role adds some audiences to this movie. Because that is what is required for this movie. It teaches many who don't know parenting . Like how a parent should start by nurturing a kid from the day the mother is pregnant. This was indeed something new. On the whole the movie was a neat one to tamil cinema. It would have become a boring documentary or the message told in this movie would not have reached wider audiences if Surya would have not acted in this movie

Vedalam (2015)

Not as bad as people say it is!

Let me tell you in the beginning itself I am not a thala fan. This review is from a general audience and not from a fan. Let me begin with Ajith. Acting yes. Many said it was amateur but I am sure no one would have felt that irritating while watching it for the first time.I believe everyone knows the story by now. Screen play was a bit fast and racy. Which adds up to the pluses of the movie. Shruthi hassan made an excellent debut in 7am arivu which was indeed her best. But here I believe she herself did not feel the necessity of her character that she even did not dub for her in the second half. I mean every one can notice that. I have no clue why the team did that in the second half. But as everyone said its very cliché. I think people should stop making movies for the actor's fans. Please. Make movie for general audience. People are changing. Even the movies need to change. Make some thing new. In fact Ajith can definitely try something new. He has everything of a Hollywood actor. But I have no clue why he does the same monotonous movies. I hope he does movie for general audience and not targeting the fans alone. I hope even thalapathy also does that. Because he also needs to change his style of movies..

Puli (2015)

Nonsense movie.

Let me tell u this in the beginning itself. This is one of the worst Tamil movies ever made. And wait. Some one else told here that this movie deserves and Oscar. Please man. I hope you 've out of asylum. This is movie was completely senseless. Vijay has no expressions on his face and is completely dull. Poor screenplay. Poor direction. In fact I think he dint even direct the movie. Worst music. Except one song every other songs in the movie seem to be "Kuthu". Can some one please explain me which music director will put such songs for a fantasy movie. And the other actors are also completely wasted. No one is given importance in this film . Just a usual masala flick with nonsense written all over it

Thani Oruvan (2015)

One of the best stylish thrilers

The movie title itself gave me goose bumps. A thriller is expected after all the promotions. But a thriller with a true meaning and less illogicalstuffs is Thani oruvan. The twist in the beginning scene itself will make you understand what you will watch for the next 2 hours. More than Ravi his brother deserves the applause for scripting something original and keeping the audience thrilled till the end. That's something very rare. But he managed to do that in this flick. But the next main person who should be saluted,awarded,appreciated,loved,and of course all the other synonyms is Aravind Swamy. Can a villain be so loved by everyone?. I think that has happened now. Performance to a next level. Ravi has done a commendable job in first choosing such a script which has more importance to the villain than the hero. And of course at the end everyone will appreciate the only performance which stands out that is Sidharth Abimanyu. An enjoyable ride. I am sure all will love it...

Baahubali: The Beginning (2015)

Watchable just for vfx

I really don't know why but 9.5 is indeed a very high rating for this movie. In fact there are many Indian movies with either high or low budget which should have deserved this rating. I would say this movie was a pain to my ears . Visually the movie might be good to see but the story seems to be a like a mix of different epics. And on top of this there is another conclusion it seems. Oh my god. Please don't. In spite of liking the directors previous film Eega, this was a complete disaster. The first half was filled with thamana showing her skin most of the time. The director used the vfx well but completely forgot that he has story to think of. This is definitely one of the biggest minus in the movie. And on top of this the songs and background music. I wish I had a ear plug. And just subtitles would have made me a get a better impression on this movie. Horrible music. Literally it was pain. An item song in between. Oh God. Please. This is completely nonsense. Seriously IMDb should change the rating. If this movie deserves 9.5 , then please answer what happened to PK,Endhiran,"I",Vishwaroopam,Dasavatharam. In fact "I" was shown as the most expensive film. And it did pay off "I" was indeed amazing to watch. Rajamouli has failed. Please never compare him with shankar. He is nothing in front of Shankar

Uttama Villain (2015)

Most under rated movie. But Kamal is best!

This movie was indeed emotional and has a lot of flaws in the direction. When I read the reviews posted by few others I felt that is complete nonsense and should review this movie. Movie these days has nothing. Except foul words, item songs and cheap dialogues. I guess you know which movie I am talking about. But this movie is like a lesson and in fact actors who consider doing roles based on background music and who is completely on masala terms should see this movie and learn what they call "acting". Kamal is a legend that is something no one can question. If one does then he is probably the one , you know. Kamal has done really good in few scenes where you never expected . Scenes are there in this movie which you can never ever forget. The movie did not go well in the box office. But indeed was appreciated by many. The reason why the movie did not go well was because the movie did not have santhanam, punch dialogues, item songs, cheap dialogues and of course a lazy storyline. An intellectual will definitely appreciate this movie.

36 Vayadhinile (2015)

One movie which Jyothika has given her best!! 9/10

I believe I am the first person to review this movie here. So coming to the review. 36 Vayadhinile- The title itself tells us how the story will be and pretty sure people would have seen the trailers and TV spots. So yes. The plot is pretty much predictable. Jyothika has returned to tamil cinema with a big bang. Since surya is the producer, I believe Jyothika would have felt really blessed now. The movie is running successfully. She has done a very neat performance. Her acting is accurate. The side cast includes Rahman, Deva Dharshini,and of course Delhi Ganesh. Delhi Ganesh, even though he has few dialogues, he has appeared in many scenes when compared to his previous. He is a brilliant actor and I hope directors use him properly. The dialogues are a big plus point to this movie . The scene as soon as the interval is done is just brilliant. Please watch out for that scene. The girl who has played the role of jyothika's daughter actually doesn't look like a 13 year old kid and in fact looks much older. The music has nothing much to say. But the bgms were really nice. So to end this, I need to ask one question. Everyone knows this is a remake of a ma malayalam movie . If the movie which you have seen is good, then why can't they create such a film in tamil itself??. We as tamil audiences should really improve. And should start avoiding kuthu songs, bar scenes, and nonsense dialogues . The movie makers are ready to give such amazing flicks. But are only worried about the likings here. So please do watch such movies. And prove that they also can be successful.

O Kadhal Kanmani (2015)

an impressive romantic film from the director who is best in it!

OK kanmani This movie is a treat for mani fans. He has brought the extreme in terms of love,sex and relationships. First half was filled with fun in terms of the hero and heroine falling into a relationship that is so called "Living together relationship". This was different in tamil cinema . But it's mani who has given us this flick he doesn't stop just at romance , he also shown us a sweet, decent relationship between Prakash raj and his wife. The one word dialogues , heavy rain sequences all defines mani ratnams direction. We should appreciate this movie because after getting irritated by watching movies which are cheap when it comes to romance . Movies with a kuthu songs and items numbers have really made us wonder why has tamil cinema become so bad. And this movie has really pleased me in that way. PC sreeram has really impressed me so much with his different camera placements. So overall this movie was like a monsoon shower in between hot weather. Kudos to the whole time .

Maattrraan (2012)

A decent family thriller

A movie which has science and action. What else do we require? I am seriously still wondering why this movie was considered a flop. Cause k.v Anand has done a very neat job in scripting and directing this movie . He is one of the big budget directors in tamil cinema. The first half had fun and thrilling scenes. It was different to see an actor who did something really brilliant after a long time. Surya has proved his acting in different movies. And this movie he strikes the cord. Which is really appreciable. And harris jayaraj was really amazing. His bgms were really impressive. This movie actually required more appreciation than it received. In fact it dint receive any. I think tamilnadu folks don't understand science fictions or they probably need those lungi dances and local cheap stuffs. People should improve. Then probably tamil cinema will improve cause the directors are ready to give impressive scripts but are only going back because of the stupid people.

Kaththi (2014)

Quite a very typical Vijay movie- Nothing New

First of all IMDb, this movie does not require 8.1 rating at all. Whereas you have given less rating for amazing movies like endhiran and 7am arivu. This is really atrocious. The movie is just another typical vijay movie, which has only mass which only his fans will enjoy. (Iam not an ajith fan either). The story is very normal and nothing different. Expected something different from Arm. I expected a lot from ARM but it was like villu or jilla. Same old screenplay, nothing new at all. People said the message was good, i would agree to that. But still a typical fight scene, climax, poor acting is all there in this movie. Vijay fans will love this movie when he walks in slow motion and show average acting on screen. The bgms were pretty impressive. But again and again, nothing new in the movie. A complete vijay nonsense through. Really nothing when compared to thupakki. In fact even missed Harris's songs

"I" - The master piece

I This movie is indeed the best of vikram's entire career. A nice romantic thriller . The story is the best part. After seeing the trailer many people framed their own stories and went to theater. But the story was completely different and was unexpected. Many idiots said shankar has given a very normal story and all rubbish. If people cant enjoy such movies then they should watch only Vijay's movies. Vikram has taken his role to the next level. Amy has given a neat performance. Santhanam was rocking in the climax. Suresh gopi was really brilliant. Ar rahman- king of bgm in and only Shankar's films. P.C Sreeram was at his best. Overall it is a must watch in theater and people have given it already block buster hit in this year. Hope people appreciate more such movies and expect more now from Shankar and Vikram. Rating- 10/10. Its deserves more than that. Haters are probably that useless actor Vijay's fans i believe!!

Lovely movie of 2013

An amazing romcom film by Ahmed. The first twenty minutes of the film just shows us their friendship and just drinking and teasing women and stuffs. But the movie later gives us a lovely tale of friendship and love. A guy who is completely filled with ego has to understand his mistakes and choose a proper path in his life. His friends Santhanam and Vinay were really good. Santhanam does make us laugh but Am sure many are tired of his comedy of talking about others faces,hair, and others. But still he makes the movie lively. Vinay even though a very much flop hero, he tired his best in this movie. Barris was at his best. Lovely bgm and songs. Brilliant visuals. The screenplay was packes with a proper romantic- comedy category. Many people who dint like the film are true fools. A brilliant movie. Loved it

Yaan (2014)

Worst of 2014

I had lots of hopes for this movie. Even though I am not a fan of jeeva, I wanted to watch for Harris's background music and songs. Only the Cinematography was good. The story was very awful, boring screenplay, complete confusion in the screenplay. I can't believe such a stupid movie has even come and people have acted in it!! The movie can be watched only on Z tamil when they air it. Ravi K. Chandran happens to be best in cinematography but worst in direction . The first half was testing our patience and second half was making us loose oxygen in theaters. My rating for this irritating movie will be 3... Mostly for Harris only...
