Losing Interest Fast
First season was good. Not great. Enough of a mystery and decent characters. This season is slow and now we've added more characters without building on the ones we know already. We've got no answers, just more questions and things are getting nonsensical. I was with this show for a while, but I'm losing interest fast.
The show had promise but I'm now convinced Hollywood's main goal is to suck people in and then purposely disappoint viewers. Every episode need not be fast paced, action oriented or even move the story forward...but dear god...every episode this season has been a filler episode. Give us something! Do better.
Resident Evil (2022)
Awful Garbage
Why can't anyone make a good adaptation? This cast is insufferable, the story is garbage and Netflix wonders why they're losing subscribers. It's because they make stupid crap like this. What a HUGE disappointment! Don't waste your time with this.
Scream (2022)
Solid Entry - More Fun Than 4 (Spoiler Free)
Scream has always been self aware, maybe even a little too much at times. But, that's part of the fun! I didn't quite know what to expect with new directors taking over but I was pleasantly surprised! I know some have complained about the closeups but that didn't bother me. I feel like the directors did a great job honoring Wes Craven while also making it their own. The title doesn't bother me...it's just a trend of the times and I felt even better about it with the "Requel" monologue from our new 'Randy' character. This was a lot of fun and I actually liked some of our new characters even though I didn't think I would. I do think Tara would have made the better main character. I don't know if it's the acting or character relatability but Sam's character wasn't my fave. Also, my least favorite thing about this installment is the internal "haunting" our main character goes through. Seemed like a cheap way to include an original cast member they couldn't really bring back. For some reason it just took me out of the tension. Other than that, this was a solid entry. I much enjoyed the motives of the killer or killers to the motives in scream 4. It flowed with the theme of the movie. The kills were much gorier to me this time and the losses were high. Made the stakes high again and that's something I really appreciated. Would have appreciated an end credits scene setting up the next installment. It's something they haven't done before and would have solidified a new direction. Maybe possibly eluding to someone else's involvement that wasn't revealed in the finale? That would make another installment less like, "here we go again..." and more like "okay, we have unfinished business." Oh well, let's see what happens.
Why Women Kill: The Lady Confesses (2021)
Great Season/Horrible Ending
I loved this season a lot more than I did the first (and I really enjoyed it too) but this ending was rushed and anticlimactic. There was no payoff to such a great season. All the actors were wonderful and I loved the characters, even the ones you love to hate. The story was great but the ending felt rushed and sloppy.
Mare of Easttown: Enter Number Two (2021)
Rooting For Flawed Characters
You know the writing, acting, etc. Is good when you're rooting for flawed characters. We can all identify aspects of the various characters with people we know in life, which makes shows like this more relatable. This show is much more than JUST a whodunnit - at heart it's about how these characters overcome the struggles in their lives. How far would you go to keep from losing the people you love most? For Mare, that questioned is answered in this episode. Great acting, great writing. Well done!
