Pitch Perfect 2 (2015)
Enjoyable, but the tensions between the German team and the Bellas is just unnecessary
I watched first movie and the sequel in one night. Although I think that the second movie was enjoyable (although not as enjoyable as the first one), I really don't see the point of tensions between the German team and Bellas. It was completely unnecessary and it made the movie seem quite cheap. It's not like the first movie where the competition between Treblemakers and Bellas actually had sense. Here, the competition was just plain weird. Germans were like the bad guys and Bellas were (of course) the good guys (well, girls, of course). We could not hear the performance of any other country. On top of that, there was one Croatian flag that appeared in like every scene where they captured the audience, which let me feel like they had nothing else to shoot during those scenes.
Deep Web (2015)
Completely misses the point
For a documentary that's called "Deep Web", this documentary completely misses the point.
In the first couple of minutes, it explains perfectly what the deep web is for. It explains that there are far more actually useful ways of using it then there are illegal ways of using it. After that, unfortunately, the documentary goes downhill.
It talks about the Silk Road, about the trial of Ross Ulbricht, about the suspicious government activities while building the case against him, about the drug wars... A minute after minute it goes further and further away from the actual topic and talks about the things that have weaker and weaker connection to the actual title. I did my best to watch it until the end, but about an hour later, I just couldn't take it anymore.
If this documentary was called "Silk Road", I'd understand it (and I would probably have never tried to watch it since Silk Road is not that interesting topic to me), but for a documentary that's called "Deep Web", it completely misses the point and talks about... well, everything else.
I do understand that the Silk Road has been in the news a lot and that it became the most recognizable site that represents what could the deep web be used for, but this documentary (like many articles I have read) talks like the deep web is nothing more then a synonym for the Silk Road. In reality, deep web is far move then that. Silk Road is just yet another website that operates using the .onion domain. Not the only one. The only reason it became this big is because we talk about it constantly. It wouldn't be such a gigantic business if it weren't for the medias that talked about it over and over again.
Jupiter Ascending (2015)
The worst science fiction movie I have ever seen
...and I'm even including that Spy Kids nonsense I watched when I was a kid. The story is like a Sci-Fi version of The Wizard of Oz. If I judged the movie just by its story, it would've got 1/10. The characters are lifeless and the logic has too many flaws.
The visual effects are good, but not flawless. I could notice the difference in contrast between the actors and the background in a couple of scenes which really bummed me out. I expected better visual effects. But even if they were flawless, they could not have saved the movie. All in all, they are good, so the movie gets one more point for that.
Final point goes to the actors themselves. If it wasn't for Mila, I probably would have stopped watching this nonsense after 20 minutes or so. I managed to force myself to watch it until the end, but now I just feel like I lost 100 minutes of my life for nothing.
Blackhat (2015)
Uninteresting and full of illogic things
Blackhat was just painful to watch. I don't know what was worse, the story or the acting.
Who the hell even decided to make an action movie with a computer hacker in the center of attention? He's helping out the police to catch some black hat hacker and he participates in some random fights, calls himself a "ghostman", travels around the world even though he's convicted and should be in jail...
Technically speaking, full of illogical things like social engineering some big shot in the NSA and breaking into NSA's secret program, IP addresses with numbers above 255 etc.
The camera is shaking for no apparent reasons, the sound gets really loud in one scene and in the next scene you can't hear anything.
Seriously, save yourself some time and skip this movie. You won't miss anything. Even re-watching Hackers is a better way to spend your time.
