Raisinghani vs Raisinghani (2024)
Just drags on... please have mercy on audience - bring an end to the show or just don't air it. It's awful.
The series just drags on. I was so excited to see it at the beginning when I thought the series revolves around a main protagonist but then he gets into an accident and then it switches to another protagonist - Jennifer Winget. And then it just goes back and forth between love stories, office drama, a villain lady, and just keeps dragging on.
I got tired after watching episode 18 and when I found out that this web series is not one of those that completes within a few episodes I just got frustrated. There just doesn't seem to be an end to this. It's just a badly executed script that the producer and the director both expect people to give them good reviews based on a courtroom drama or series revolving around legal families. First of all such courtroom dramas have been a huge hit in the OTP. Your Honor, the recent Lakhan Leela Bhargava, Criminal Justice, etc.
But this!!!!! It just goes overboard and it becomes tiring that this just doesn't seem to end. A good start gone completely wrong with the direction and seems like the script writer just doesn't know how to move the story forward without extending many episodes or having a smart end to bring everyone to justice - The more the show extends without actually sticking to point, story, it just seems lost. Anushka's father is still in the bed after 28 episodes and by this time, even BR Chopra's Mahabhadata finale had seen Duryodhana defeated by Bhim. And that was an Epic.. an epic. The way this just drags on - it actually is shameful on the director's side that no proper attention is paid to keep the viewer engaged and want him glued to the next episode. I hope the sponsors of the show read such reviews and actually find out that the viewers are clueless about where the story is going.
Here's what's going on and it's defining a force called circular motion:
Virat and Anushkas history is shown in flashback at the beginning of every episode
Then in present day reality - they fight, patch up, ignore each other.
Then there is a villain - dhan Dhan Dhan - Ankita and she has a viscuous secret which is why she's after The Raisinghanis.
But Anushka is a poor naive mature lawyer who just brings anyone at home to stay with her.
Ankita is up to some tricks
Virat and Anushka again fight argue patch up are friends break up.
Anushka starts dating Akshat
Then Virat and Anushka again fight argue patch up are friends break up.
Just drags pm- what a boring boring story telling capability.
Close the case soon!!!
Writing adjourned.
Khatta Meetha (2021)
Realistic gem
Wow - Bollywood movies should just stop production and releases. The family drama and the quality of such content on OTT is really OVER THE TOP.
What classic series this is. We had Yeh Meri Family, the Ghullak, Gubbare, Panchayat, Please See Attached, and now this!
Khatta Meetha brings a heart warming feeling watching each episode. So much realistic feeling tied to every single episode.
Apoorva Arora has once again picked a great series for her development as a versatile youth actor. College Romance was good too. But this series is setting some serious expectations and competition for Bollywood movies and their high paying fakestars.
The setting of a simple home, tuition classes - this has been missing in all the flashy Bollywood movies. Nothing is worth more than being attached to a story and having a personal touch to it.
A the Bollywood's ghissi pitti stories are worthless in front of Khatta Meetha - every single episode has a remembrance of normal day to day life and the ground reality that revolves around the life of all Indians. The dialoguea and the situations shown in the series reminds us a lot about how we live on ground.
Bollywood movies just create the Big factor because they have an aim to hit the 100-crore club. Such web series do not and this is why they produce content and stories that keep the audience watch episode and another episode and preciously wait for the next season and the next and so on. This is what value added content is all about. Such series do not need marketing but a word of mouth about how impactful the stories are- that's enough to draw people to it.
I dare any Bollywood movie producers to come up with such beautiful stories that remind us of the 70s and 80s movies like Ghar Ghar ki Kahani and how close-knit Indian families of today still are.
Well done with the screenplay execution and great direction. The actors are into their characters. The tuition teacher is a great example of how such teachers produce good students and instill good culture and direction.
We need more such web series and movies to spread a normal message and keep the audience focused and attached to real life.
Baap Beta Aur Office (2022)
Pretty classic father son relationship
I cannot relay more of this story with my own and the relationship with my father. This is a classic story.
The business ordeal and the stories that revolve around the employees, the family, and the cunningness of other clients in non payment is realistic. Great bonding between the employees and the way the father-son relationship is shown - its wonderful.
This series deserves more audience and more episodes and more seasons. I am sad that it has not been broadcasted as much as it deserves.
The marketing requires more input and push it to more people and sons whose relationship with their father is not that great.
Wagle Ki Duniya (2021)
Waited for some time for show to play out it's time and then review it
I purposely waited for 2 and a half years for the show to pan out and understand if it will be able to maintain its foundation on which it was restarted as season 2.
After 2 and half years I am very disappointed with what the show has become. Indian television series never have had the knowledge or the trivial requirement to maintain quality across its content and Wagle Ki Duniya has essentially become that.
It started off with one topic per episode and now it is just another version of Taarak Mehta Ka oolta Chashma. The foundation of both the series is the same-
1. The story revolves around one protagonist and his family.
2. The family has a secretary of the society which brags about his "adarsh" principles and being proud of the job he's doing as a secretary.
3. The secretary hates the protagonist's son and always gets into an argument with him.
4. The stories include their neighbors and every episode and every topic brings all the neighbors into picture. Unnecessarily.
Atharva Is very irritating. How can a boy as old as him still put ketchup on his hand and lick it? Who doss this? Why do they show such silliness. 16 year old are grown up and mature to not indulge into such stupid actions.
Dakshesh Jyotipura is cringing of a character. Over acting is an under statement.
Vandu Rani is another one that people wonder who is such a sarvagun sampanna sati savitri of a bahu these days?
This show has become boring and redundant over time.
Wagle Ki Duniya is a modern competitor of TMKOC. When the episodes initially came about they were awesome. But now the show has lost all its value.
Now the episodes are being stretched from one to another and it has become tiring and boring.
Now the producers have adopted new strategy in order to extend the show time every day. Add meaningless songs or make people sing and dance by creating big bash parties and these parties are extravagantly celebrated. Just imagine how can small and simple housing societies afford such grand parties.
Then there is chaaplusi shown between the families and a lot of fake dramas.
Do these producers and directors read public opinion and criticism? Or they just think by themselves and concentrate on the TRP which in these days should be the most non functional metric because people would be criticizing on Twitter, IMDB, YouTube, Facebook, etc. They don't have listen to them.
If they would they will stop all such hogwash non value added content and put the shows back on track to create more meaningful scripts and execute beautiful stories.
Now this show has just become a liability just like all other Indian television shows. I did not expect the makers and producers of Sarabhai and Baa Bahu Baby to now fall within the same trap and mindset like the other Indian shows like Anupama, TMKOC, Pandey Store, etc. To just keep on airing it so it will get more episodes added to its name and on the record boom.
But are we chasing record or quality and respect? Sarabhai gained a lot of respect and value because it provided entertainment and the characters were consistent and well appreciated.
WKD is losing all its appreciation in the chase of glory and records and money. To me this story has long lost its charm and value.
This should shut down or pause for a year to come back fresh for a new season with new theme and foundation.
OMG 2 (2023)
Pankaj Tripathi holds the movie together
Big fan of the first movie and the way the concept is brought open among the many challenges on the topic of atheism.
In the second one - it started out with a very outwardly open topic - something that is not easily admissible in the Indian society and frankly was not amused by the start. But then as the story starts to pick up - there were hardly any dull moments throughout the movie.
You know how Indian movies are traditionally filled with non-valued content and unnecessary characters who just malign the charm of an entertaining movie - this movie, just like the first part, does not have any such unnecessary portions. It keeps you glued and focus from one part of the script to the next.
The story is told is a very simple way but it is effective. It reads out the message loud and clear and the audience who has watched and read through it has some thinking to do.
Akshay portrayed Lord Shiva in the movie. His normal form is of a more modern version of the Sadhu - he can be seen as a Modern Desi Hippie. The way he plays Lord Shiva - really makes you believe that Lord Shiva actually may have been one of such Sadhus - powerful and knowledgeable enough - to who we worship today. His dialogues and in some parts telling the truth making a "bhola" perhaps is why Lord Shiva is called "Bhole" dearly.
Pankaj Tripathi wins the battle with Akshay. He's impactful, into his character throughout the movie. The story told is a very difficult one to be honest. His usage of Hindi is divineful and thorough. Love it. I wish I can speak it as clear as he does.
Yamini Gautam is very charming. Always have adored her looks and her acting and she's equally impactful through her character.
If we compare both the parts of the series - the directors are successful in executing the screenplay and throwing out the message to the audience in the most clearway. The second one I felt was a tougher one because it was taking on the challenge to read a message to an Indian audience who is not yet open and on terms to speak about the subject so openly. But they did it well.
Pavan Malhotra I think could have been a bit more serious as a judge. They seemed to have belittle the modesty of the Indian judicial system in the way some things were shown. People eating kachori during a hearing, the way Pankaj Tripathi talks to a judge.. But overall - a great one time watch. Just make sure you are ready for the tough subject to be spoken on.
Do Gubbare (2023)
Quality story and content
In a refreshing story telling way, Do Gubbare keeps the user glued to it through every single episode and every single minute. A simple but so effective story. Outbeats all the flashy Bollywood's filth that the likes of Karan Johar push on to the Indian audience. The more such stories come out the more the Indian audience will stop going to theater to watch crap and fake stories. This web series has elements if reality, Indianism, family bonding tied to it that you actually want to be a part of the story itself. Top notch indeed.
The actors played their part well. Right from veteran actors to newer promising ones, the screenplay has been executed very well. The house setting and the story setting within Pune is amazing. Love it.
Sandwiched Forever (2020)
This is a classic.
Very few Indian shows (sarabhai vs sarabhai and this one) have a script that is such simple but yet so engrossing and entertaining. The setup of the three couples and the chemistry between the three couples if amazing and superbly sarcastic.
Besides the typical horrendous Hindi web series that involve murders, sex, cuss words, something that is usually not family friendly or even comfortable to watch in front of kids, this is a clean comedy that has rich and funny content.
15 episodes for first season are amazing and really looking forward to second season.
Indian Idol (2004)
Not the standard that international idol franchise has
This is one of most irritating shows which rests on chaaplusis of the hosts and the singers. A lot of these singers who come have perhaps made appearance on other Indian musical shows. The stature of Indian music is blown to dust completely when the entertainment portion including rap, western music takes over the actual music portion which makes me dislike the show.
At the end of the show winners have already been decided by the internal team. I do not believe a single portion when these guys say that Public have voted and they eliminate the contestants based on the voting. Everyone knows that everything in India cam be fixed including such results. This show has become just a business but not really bringing out the real talent from nation
Who are the judges? Actors and actresses? Himesh Reshamiya who focuses to shave his chest and let public see his non hairy chest by opening the buttons. Why even wear a shirt. Just come bare naked. Then there are judges like Honey Singh, Geeta MA who make guest appearances to judge the singers? What singing abilities does Geeta MA have herself to rate the singers. How about someone like Anurag Basu or Ekta Kapoor? Or about Terence Louis. These guys are already making millions of rupees and what ability do they have to critic the singers? Why pay someone whose already making millions of rupees.
Why not bring on actual musicians and teachers or gurus and Pandits of India who are actual hidden talent and who are the ones behind these musicians upbringing and development?
This is a pathetic show that is a blot on Indian music. I think the only reason this show is airing is because of the money factor. Quality is crap. Value of such show goes to dust when music especially Indian music is not taken care of and respected well. Only money factor and PR of Chaaplusi comes into factors.
Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019)
A one time watch
Not exactly what i was expecting. Had a lot of goosebumps watching the trailer and then going to the movie with the thing heard about of what they called surgical strikes.
A few times I felt that the movie was not going forward and it remained disconnected from one part to the next. There should be have been more of a continuity feeling but I felt it lacked it.
Some scenes were not necessary and some scenes were a bit too long. At one point, it felt like I was playing a war video game rather than watching the movie.
Pros: good acting, inspirational and emotional scenes. Get knowledge of all it all happened (even though not everything shown in the movie could be true, for example the devices that are shown to be used by the Indian army may not be true). Paresh Rawal as Ajit Doval was good. Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam's acting was pretty solid. Yami Gautam's looks were something to die for. She's not only a good looking woman but she sbould evolve as a versatile actress in the future that sets her apart from the chhichhora class of actresses of Katrina Kaif, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis fakhri, and so on.
Cons: the movie lacked some more details and continuity. I think the movie could have had more related content that could have held the watchers to the seat. Some portion in the movie was predictable. When I was watching the movie it reminded me of the Hollywood flick, 13 hours. Comparing that to this, the former was goosebumps all the way in the end. I was hoping the same for this as an Indian. But I didn't feel it in the most part of the movie. Some contents are cruel. So if you are sensitive close your eyes.
Bhaiaji Superhit (2018)
Senselessly senseless
Not sure why people are rating 10/10. Are they paid by the producers? Not sure. But any sane and sensible movie watcher or goer will just get out of the cinema hall with a look on his face: what the fluck did I spend my 2 hours on? This movie story is utterly baseless. Seems like Indian movie directors have discovered some magical power to fly cars. Cars flying, Sunny as usual being sunny. Flicking motorcycles easily as if he was throwing tomato. Amisha Patel has not been getting movies lately. So her next thing is to act like a prostitute and expose herself. Priety Zinta should concentrate on how to make Kings XI win rather than coming back to movies. Or she should just retire. The movie is horrible and horribly horrible. Waste of time, money, everything. Arshad was such a waste. Stupid storyline and everything looks so fake. People flying motorcycles flying, everything distant from reality.
Why do they make such movies? Why? Why?
Newton (2017)
Classic story telling
Forget all the glory and the glamor and the bling and the shiny fashion from the "modern day" movies with item girl songs or foreign dancers or SRK's chhichhorapan - this movie defines what the Indian movie industry is capable of. After Swades, the Indian movie produced many masterpieces like A Wednesday, OMG, 3 Idiots, Lageraho Munnabhai, Special 26, Baby, Jolly LLB, Rocket Singh, all of which won the hearts of many people because of its ability of simple story telling. And yet again in 2017, we are seeing another Rajkumar Rao epic.
His Kai Po Chhe was not only fantastic but heart touching. He has done it it again in Newton.
You sit down to watch the movie and get absorbed in the simplicity of the movie and the story telling and you are engrossed to find out what happens next. You will feel like you are actually at the scene where the polling officers are waiting for people to arrive and vote. It vividly tells you how people have no knowledge on who to vote and there is no education about any of the leaders in the remotest area of the country thanks to the multitudes of parties and candidates. It also reflects on how they are forced to come to vote - because the foreign journalists are going to be reporting on the voting situation in that area - it becomes their "ijjat ka sawaal". But no one cares or does their duty to bring people to vote voluntarily.
Yet when they are voting, all they care is to meet their ends by the bringing the cost of the simplest of a grocery item. It is such a sad truth in India that politicians and their supports have made India and its people a mockery.
Watch it - there are no big stars. Screenplay is amazing. It is well worth your 1.5 hours of your time. If you are into watching half-naked girls dancing or songs - this movie isn't for you.
