Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023)
Excellent!
Fantastic!!! So glad I got to the theatre for this one, a true aesthetically thrilling experience.
I loved into the spider verse, but I might have to vote that this one is even better! The plot comes into its own and we have a real sense of the characters in this one.
***Spoiler***
It ends with a "to be continued", so when you notice that you've been in the theatre for 2.5 hours and the plot is nowhere near resolved, you are a bit disappointed for a second. But totally worth it, can't wait for the next installment!
(We brought our six year old for the showing and nothing inappropriate if any parents are out there reading this lol)
Little Nicky (2000)
A thousand stars
In the very least, 50 stars, one for each on the American flag. Can't believe this only has 5 stars. Grow up, have yourself a drink or smoke, or both, and put this bad boy on.
Unicorn Store (2017)
If you're considering it, just put it on
The movie was an aesthetic delight. Whimsical beyond just imagery, even. The plot, however? Alludes me! I remember feeling good about it, perhaps validation upon the ending, but its mediocre once I've had time to disgest/forget.
Recommend if you're already considering it, but if you don't want to enjoy it... you won't!
Give it a go if you're looking to kill a couple hours.
The God Committee (2021)
Not bad
I recommend this if you, like me, have nothing left to watch after two years of excessive free time.
It was tragic in the "real world" sense, however I do disagree with the reviews claiming this was useless after the last five minutes. Whilst I am likewise tired of seeing a 70 year old man with a 40 year old woman, it isn't enough to call it a wash. And again, whilst I am likewise tired of a plot line turning into nothing at the tail end of a film, it was still alright.
The acting is great, story compelling, but I will no doubt forget I've even seen this here in a couple of months.
Yearly Departed (2020)
Funny, bro
This was funny. Low scores aren't the intended audience, yall. I mean. Maybe they are, but based on humor and my experience with fragile male ego, probs not.
Hamilton (2020)
Captivating. Exceeds expectations!
I don't think that anything I write will be able to quantify the number of reasons it's watch worthy. It's popularity is justified and good god, just watch it.
Succession (2018)
Spectacular!
Fantastic all around. Story, performance, anesthetic, script, just a true masterpiece for the genre. Admittedly, it took 2 or 3 episodes for me to find myself in binge-level territory. Obsessed. Can't wait for more!
The Americans (2013)
Absolute perfection.
Can't believe it only has 8.4 stars on imdb. It is arguably one of the best series ever made, up there with undeniable standouts like The Sopranos or Breaking Bad. The performances, the plot, soundtrack, cinematography. Everything. From s1e1 right to the finale.
Miss Sloane (2016)
Fantastic
This is an 9/10 for me. However, it gets the 10 in an attempt to offset the <5 stars, through which the attempted procurement of pro-gun optics have reigned priority. The cast is STELLAR. The story is gripping and truly not told with a political agenda. The dynamic interpersonal relationships, and consequential interactions alike, are used. Perfectly. Highly recommend if you aren't going to take it literally in terms of partisan hot button topics.
Stowaway (2021)
Acting great, everything else terrible
This was a terrifically wasted movie. There's one huge question that's never addressed, and pretty much a glaring plothole. Beyond that, feels like I'll never understand the point of this film.
Q: Into the Storm (2021)
Everything a documentary should be
If you're a fan of non-fiction, or even to some extent true crime, then you'll appreciate the crap outta this. This is a very thoroughly investigated and structured map of a pretty bananas phenomenon.
Seduced: Inside the NXIVM Cult (2020)
A subtle disappointment
80% of this portrayal is compelling. But should you happen to reach the last ten minutes, particularly as a person who hasn't developed the wherewithal to respond, maybe take it down a notch or 5 prior to contact signing..
Close Encounters of the Fifth Kind (2020)
Not so sure
Sooooo this was fascinating and seemed to be exceedingly poignant until the remaining five or so minutes; in which the integrity of the evidence and speculation is absolutely thrown into question.
As the doc wraps up, it becomes very likely that the entire 1.5 hour is a promotion for this dudes app. Pretty disappointing, but would be happy to be proven incorrect.
Because We Are Girls (2019)
Must see for doc fans
This is a totally devastating, and unbelievably curated, recollection of a truly horrific trauma. There are scenes that are so sincerely raw and investigative, in terms of family reaction/confrontation, it has garnered a full 100% recommendation from my critical ass.
The Great North (2021)
Don't expect bobs burgers!
Do yourself a favor and give this a few eps. A lot of heart and character in this one! It's got a lot of negative reviews, and wrongfully so.
Aunty Donna's Big Ol' House of Fun (2020)
HILARIOUS, but perhaps niche humor
I laugh out loud near constantly when watching. Actually, I also laugh out loud when I even think about some sketches. A real GEM. It may be a bit niche in the sense that it's not a typical comedy composition, even for sketch show. In my opinion, that meandering style of relativity and and loose plot structure adds to the comedic genius. Love it. I emphatically recommend giving this a go.
The Oath (2018)
Very political, but not in a specific way
If political discussions offend you, its probably not a watch for you. Though it's not specifically about current politics, but rather more pointed at the contentious dynamic that a divided democracy has led to.
That all being said, it is very funny and certainly entertaining! Well done definitely caught me by surprise! I recommend!
Room (2015)
Exceptional in all aspects.
This movie had me glued to the screen. Performances are fantastic, it's astounding how realistic the dialogue and interactions are, even in such specific and tragically atypical circumstances. Definitely recommend
American Vandal (2017)
Gripping and hilarious
I'm pretty late to this vandal train, but blown away by this series! It's a satire, but it'll have you equally (if not more,) engaged as any great true crime or docuseries. I typically only leave these reviews for stuff I've really enjoyed, but the 10/10 rating isn't something to take lightly!
I can't imagine why this wasn't picked up for a third season.
Mad Men (2007)
HOLDS UP! Watched when aired- rewatched a decade later.
This show is just, beyond words how well made, thoughtful, just
Honestly, just put in on. Start from the beginning. Its a god damn cinematic treasure.
Gentefied (2020)
Worth It!
This was a bit slow at the very beginning, but TOTALLY worth it! Other people have commented on the realistic portrayal and I'd totally have to agree. Hope to see more seasons!

The Skeleton Twins (2014)
Extraordinary chemistry between the cast
This is an A+ dramedy! The chemistry, the script, the composition so well done. Watching it for the first time in 2020, and it holds up for sureeee
Barry (2018)
WATCH IT
This show has it all! Humor, sincerity, drama, suspense! Characters are fantastic, acting is fantastic. If you have access to HBO, WATCH IMMEDIATELY
Sick Note (2017)
Will Qualify as a Cult Classic.
I sincerely, SINCERELY dont understand the fact that this hasn't had a stronger online presence/a larger outcry for a season three status.
WATCH TIL SEASON ONE, EP THREE BEFORE JUDGING THE SUBSTANCE TO BE ASSURED THE HUMOR AND PLOT HASNT BEEN LOST ON YOU.
This show is HILARIOUS, unique, compelling, dynamic and beyond.
About 1/3 the way through season two; and already very salty about the fact that canceled/renewed announcement hasn't been made.
AND lastly, Lohan is a minimal character. Do not pass it over because of the connotation associated with her participation!
