Moonfall (2022)
9/10 for ludicrous craziness
Imagine that The Terminator*, Independence Day, Armageddon, The Core, 2012, Prometheus*, and Interstellar* all had a baby together.
And that baby is a mad, gnashing, insane thing, and follows no rules of logic or laws of physics. And it even does the Kirk/Spock scene from The Wrath of Khan*. And it is a terrible, yet beautiful thing to behold.
I have something of a penchant for bad movies - this ticked *every* box. A truly awful brilliant film!
*these films are good - Moonfall borrows thematically from them.
Ted Lasso (2020)
I *HATE* shows or films that are 'uplifting' or 'feel-good' ... but ...
... this show is infectious and irresistible. A well written show with a big heart that just presses all the right buttons.
I *should* hate this, but I absolutely love it. Give it whirl.
Temple (2017)
2* for the beautiful scenery!
Unlikable characters go through the by-the-numbers motions.
I'm unsure why the girl spends 15 minutes looking for her boyfriend, when upon finding him seriously injured/mutilated, she immediately proceeds to run away from him into the dark.
By the time you get to the 'twist', you are long past caring.
Terrible movie. Save yourself the time and watch something else.
Awaken the Shadowman (2017)
A must watch terrible film!
My word, what can I add that other reviewers haven't already said ...?
It's bad. Really bad.
The budget was OBVIOUSLY spent on 3 elements:
Beautiful stock footage of the moon.
A quite good burnt body prop.
Jean Smart's fee for a couple of scenes.
But, I have a penchant for terrible movies, and if you like a great bad movie, this is definitely one to watch.
Characters appear into the 'story' then disappear with no explanation. BRILLIANT!
Why was the woman living in the trailer made to look unwashed (and the makeup/fx for that are SO crap) Her trailer looked so nice!
Talking of crap makeup, check the tattoos on the dude at the scrap heap place! LITERLLY written on with marker pen! BRILLIANT!!!
A poor script, an incoherent story, disjointed and inappropriate scoring, a head-scratcher ending (it's the guy peaking behind a bush near the beginning of the film, but ... WHY???), and terrible acting. I'm pretty sure that the casting director must have had a remit for 'confused mouthbreather', because the lead actor delivers that BANG ON!
It's hideous, but I loved it!
Safe (2018)
So bad I feel compelled to write a review!
We watched The Stranger and quite enjoyed it. It played its 'six degrees of separation', and 'everybody has secrets' cards very well.
This show, however ... where to start ...?
Let's say, the script? The dialogue is AWFUL, it is clunky, awkward, clichéd beyond belief. It is laughably bad.
Which leads onto the acting, and the delivery of said script. My word, there is not a single line that is believable, and isn't telegraphed. I'm not one for lesser-known actors (everybody deserves their shot), but to a man and woman, the cast is a forest.
But, maybe, it is the director that has failed the actors? There is not a likeable, nor believable character in the show. They behave either predictably by-the-numbers, cringe worthy and eye-rollingly unrealistic ... or both!
Surgeons who are bezzies and were both in the army together ... and given a certain line at a certain time, leads the viewer to conclude they were front line, NOT army surgeons ...? Behave yourself!
It's watchable in the sense that you DARE the programme to carry on being so bad. The programme retorts "Think I can't get any worse? POW! HAVE THAT!" and delivers yet another awful line, from a cardboard cutout, that seconds earlier you were thinking ' surely they won't ...?'.
This is as bad as BBC daytime TV 'drama' Doctors.
