The Living Sea (1995)
An Epic Exploration
Meryl Streep narrates the sweeping visual that emphasizes the value of our world's oceans, and how they and the life thriving within depends on us to maintain their majesty. Through research, casual observance, reverence and daily life we are shown how the oceans are interconnected, and that life can be found in even the darkest corners of the sea.
I first saw this IMAX film 13 years ago in the Denver Museum of History and Science, and was floored by how beautifully filmed it was. And the film is well paired with songs from Sting, especially the song 'Fragile'.
The Dresden Files (2007)
The Dresden Files - a supernatural ride to remember
The Dresden Files TV show does have differences between itself and that of the book series. After viewing the entire series, the alterations seem to take a backseat to great acting, camera shots and decent special effects. One area it doesn't skimp on is dark humor; much of the banter between the lead characters results in a quip or one liner that's laugh-out-loud worthy. Aside from the well timed laughs, the show really is a great mix of supernatural, slightly horror tinged adventure and crime scene drama. The story lines are fast paced, yet are easy to catch up on. They are often so good on their own that the casual viewer won't get lost within the series.
