For the Plasma (2014)
Bad, in a good way?
It's like Twin Peaks and The Station Agent had a baby, but that baby is still learning to walk and talk and is several years off from being able to write with any semblance of fluidity that could be considered good, and that baby tried to remake Pi.
The delivery of dialogue by the old man-well, by pretty much everyone-and, just in general, the dialogue itself, often had me laughing.
I almost turned it off in the first five minutes, but persevered and actually found it oddly enjoyable. And while it definitely isn't a good movie, I kind of felt like their may have been an interesting idea somewhere that got lost along the way.
Outside In (2017)
Was better when it was called Rectify
If you like the idea of watching a slow-moving, character-driven film about a man re-emerging from prison after a long period of time and attempting to figure out the world around him, and with a haunting soundtrack--watch Rectify, instead. It was leaps and bounds better when it was called Rectify.
The acting was decent (from the main characters), but it couldn't touch the complexity and beauty of Rectify. Rectify. Rectify. Rectify.
Fractured (2019)
Not terrible, not great.
Yes, it's sort of predictable. And the acting seems to have been directed in a somewhat weird way. And there's a lot of actions that don't seem to make much sense (on all fronts).
But, if you're looking to kill some time, and want a sort of off-kilter, psychological thriller, it's not the worst you could do.
It's basically The Machinist Lite, though.
