The Ugly Duckling and Me! (2006)
Nice Trailer, Bad Movie
After watching the trailer I thought the would be fun, it was curious though that the last function was at 16:30 hrs.
To begin with the animation was nothing special, the drawings of the characters look cheap and the plot could have been written by a four-grader. It was boring and I feel cheated by the trailer (in a "happy feet" way).
At least I realized that Europe can produce exactly the same kind of superfluous, empty and bad movies without Hollywood. Another disappointing film.
Keep your money and don't watch this crap.
King Kong (2005)
Bad, really bad movie!
This movie has 7.9 points in its rating, how can that be possible!?? It is not the first time this happened to me. When one read IMDb first page comments, no matter how bad the film is, the comments say "Wonderful [10]", "A masterpiece! [10]", "One of the best movies I've ever seen [9]", an so on.
I think now that Jackson's LotR success was nothing but good luck, but that the guy himself isn't a good director and should go back to make films like "Braindead".
The movie lasts 187 min, almost two times the lenght of the original, 100 min are only unnecessary & unbelievable CGI.
Jackson, instead of rounding the film concentrated only in the CGI. Whe have to see a 20 minutes fight between Kong and a dinosaur, but we are left to know how they transported the sleeping Kong back to NY in the crappy ship, and that is just one example.
Don't see this movie, save your money.
Don't Come Knocking (2005)
Road movie
This movie is a little long, or perhaps a little boring, or perhaps both. It's a typical American road movie, about a western's actor who suddenly gets bored of "living la vida loca" and start chasing what's left of his family. The acting of the main character (Howard) is good, and the photography/camera was very well done. The movie lacks of reality in several parts, and the acting/scenes of Sky (Howard's daughter) are really really bad, so bad that it completely ruins the atmosphere, and you start thinking: WTF? in the middle of the movie.
This is not the best of Wim Wenders, and I think it isn't worth the price of ticket, it is more a movie to see while being sick or during a Winter night in an antarctic base. I think Wim should return to Germany if he wants to start doing good films again.
