joyless

Joyless the magic, the beasts, the captivating fantasy is missing or gone. We took our three JK- Potter and Beasts fanatics, all sans the youngest wanted to leave about 2/3 in. That's the only review that mattered to me.

(re)Inspired in me principals I wish they could teach....

...our children in school. 1/3 of the way into this movie I began to see it... feel... as though, I was watching as a young boy. I was literally overwhelmed with forgotten emotions, and startled at various moments thru-out how it kept me on the edge of tears. In a sentence I could profile the authors of the negative reviews =) , but I won't, because this film was made for the positive people. This is one of those 'historical fantasy dramas' that all good people wish and hope inside are true.

Time Trap (2017)
6.... because 40% of the movie was ...missing?
14 August 2018
It started out so strong, then I sat stunned as 20% into it, 30...40% it just unravelled. Kudos to EVERY actor, Furby rocked, but it was like the director lost the script and said "fill 30 minutes then we'll do an awesome finale. Which did rock btw. I even rewound it and tried fathom how that bbeginning, and this ending contained so much filler and byproduct. If it helps... I'll give the last 15min a10, the first 35min a 9. ...confused..... I wouldn't NOT watch a sequel, based on last 15-20 min, with hopefully a prologue explaining the beginning.

APB (2017)
A useful review for couch potatoes
25 April 2017
I'll skip the whole angry tirade where I join IMDb then prolifically churn out review after review criticizing the casting agents, directors, producers...actors.... bagel guy... for not knowing what they're doing.

APB is a welcome distraction for potatoes that have an hour to relax and watch a lil' action, some flirtatious behavior, a couple cool gadgets, and usually a cop or two doing some heroic stuff.

In the world of Chicago 'Everything', Law and Order, Blue Bloods, yadda yadda which require me to think and keep up with all the back stories...hell, I welcome me some campy cop sci-fi =)

(ONE piece of advice... REALLY WANT TO SEE JET POWERED DRONES THAT SHOOT SPIDERS WITH TITANIUM STINGERS just to annoy all the drone experts that reviewed before me =)

A Solid Ten With Little Trepidation
22 April 2017
First of all, if you live in an apartment or condo DON'T WATCH THIS SHOW. ....I got so excited I ran out in the hall and punched some stranger.

I never thought I could watch a show with Amanda Peet and be so distracted by sheer raw humour and acting that my only motivation wasn't catching some boob.

Hank Azaria, not since Hugh Laurie in House, has renewed my faith in complete immersion into character in a comedy drama.

It's so @#$%&ing funny it could justify a 12 stepper going on a bender.

I bought a baseball between episodes 2 and 3 just so I could terrorize my neighbours cat.

I yell at people now on the street with no good reason.

Rings (2017)
I hope I'm not wasting my time, telling you...
20 April 2017
...to not waste yours.

Remember the writers strike of 1988?

How bad a good pie recipe is without a cook? How poorly your car runs with no gasoline? How your puppy seems lacklustre and not at all playful since he died?

There was more suspense on Teletubbies when I didn't see the green one for a few seconds. Remember Duckman? I did, after I struggled thru 46 minutes of this I borrowed my parents VCR and watched it instead.

Graves (I) (2016–2017)
...what started as a nudge, eventually moved me
16 October 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Small mercies or inability to accept Nick Nolte failing changed what would have been a 5/10 to a tentative 8.

I almost missed the last 3 or 4 minutes of ep. 1, while logging in to dejectedly rate what seemed 1/2 hearted, 1/2 rehearsed, 1/2 committed....yadda yadda yadda ....still within earshot I caught Graves stumbled speech to the Cancer society, I re-watched the whole show, then ep. 2. What I had first taken as poorly scripted, poorly executed, now unfolded as Graves himself began too.

I think if Noltes 'eyes opening' momentum can keep up moving forward, and if the writes can consummate the foreplay with substantial reward to Graves apparent epiphany of moral conscience this could be a win =)
