Beacon 23 (2023)
What a bunch of waste
First of all, this is supposed to be such a futuristic piece of equipment in space, but there are stairs and no elevators. Why? Then there is an old-fashioned wooden desk with old type lamps.
Who is doing Harlan's hair? Okay, maybe he could cut it himself, but who is braiding the back of his head?
Second episode, there were the biggest group of losers meant to be dangerous. They looked more like rejects from central casting. Thankfully, all but one left alive, but he did leave. The others' roles were short lived and for good reason.
I will continue to watch for another couple of episodes to see if it gets better. Harmony is worthy of watching.
Platonic (2023)
Enough is Enough
Honestly, I have been in a similar type relationship when I was in my 20s. I had a best friend who I did more with than the person I was in a spousal relationship with. Thankfully, we did not have children. This nearly destroyed my spousal relationship. I can now sympathize with Charlie. I say just divorce Sylvia and let her play to her hearts content with Will. The two of them are so immature, they deserve each other.
I am certain every scooter rental company would like to knock off the writers with the stupid antics of destruction as well.
As much as I love Luke McFarlane, Rose Bryne and Seth Rogen, I do hope this show is not renewed for a second season. Rose, stick with Physical.
The Goldbergs (2013)
Past its Prime
For the first five or six seasons, this was a funny show. Now, it is moronic. Adam never grows up either physically or emotionally. He is college age and still a nothing.
Barry is in med school and acts like an imbecile. His body humor was once funny, now it is sad.
Beverly should be medicated if her character is based on the real mother. If I were the real Mrs. Goldberg, I would hide in a corner rather than have the public associate me with the character.
Cancel the show please. It is like trying to take your eyes away from a car accident. I keep saying this is the last season I will watch, but my husband still gets a chuckle, though less and less each episode.
1923 (2022)
Waste of time
I love Yellowstone and I enjoyed 1883 more than I expected to. I had no idea who the stars of that show were, but when I found they were country singers, I was hesitant. That said, they did provide wonderful, authentic feeling performances.
I was truly excited to start this series, but so far, it has fallen flat. This show, 1923 is a wash out so far after two episodes. The story line is all over the place; it is disjointed and confusing. Harrison Ford is not believable as a cowboy, but I think it is more the script than his acting. It seems Helen Mirren is not much of a presence as they spend too much time with alternate story lines.
Switching to Africa where leopards are killing people is too far-fetched for my taste. The scene where Harrison Ford decides to hang the men who had the audacity to graze their sheep on land he wanted for his cows, was totally bizarre; his acting that scene was ingenuine and forced.
I read it will end with the 2nd season. I doubt I will make it past the first.
Buried in Barstow (2022)
Wait, What?
This was a kick ass movie with some twists, but the ending said "To be continued", which leaves much hanging. I cannot find the "continued" anywhere. What the hell?
Beckett (2021)
The energy was palpable
After finding this movie with a mediocre score here and also on RT, the hope to revisit Greece was enough to garner my interest.
My husband and I were enthralled throughout. The energy is incredible. We were left guessing for 90% of the movie.
Don't let one negative review sway you. Take a chance and you will be glad you did.
Leave It on the Floor (2011)
Had the Wrong Idea
I have had this movie for some time, but never really paid attention to it, pushing it back on my viewing list. I finally watched it last night.
My spouse and I were overwhelmingly impressed with the acting, the singing, and the costumes. Being an indie film, we were not anticipating such a production, because it was gay themed it made it more incredible.
Being white gay men, it was certainly an incredible experience and pleasure to see a number of black actors getting parts. This is one movie I will watch multiple times.
Hot in Cleveland (2010)
The Worst Rehash of Humor in Years
First of all, what is this, 1970? Filming in front of a live audience and using canned laughter or laughing soundtracks? It was probably to cover up the groans that the dialogue received. What is original in any of the writing? When Betty White and Jane Leeves say "Where have I heard that before?" probably from forty different TV shows of the past. Though the cast my be good, Betty White is great, the rest cannot keep a straight face through the lame humor.
Sad, sad, sad. How do television shows like this even get made. Who would believe that anyone would give up Paris for Cleveland? Who would ever believe that they had to give up a life for a brief encounter?
