You Are What You Eat: A Twin Experiment (2024)
The truth isn't always easy to accept.
Actual rating is 8/10. This was an enjoyable and informative show. Most of the negative reviews encompasses people not wanting to accept the truth. This IMDb rating is way too low. The show was well done and interesting! Of course it's biased. There are zero medical studies proving omnivore diets are healthier than plant-based diets. I've eaten meat all my life and I can't pretend it's healthy. I can't be in denial about nasty TMAO levels from eating meat. TMAO is the 'smoking gun' of heart disease. There is a 2020 study where researchers looked at data from more than 400,000 people in the U. S. over a 16-year period. You can Google it. They found that higher intake of plant protein was associated with lower risk of death from all causes. We need to care about the world our kids kids will be living in. We know the facts - Meat and dairy specifically accounts for around 14.5% of global greenhouse gas emissions (higher than the entire world's transport emissions). If everyone in the entire world ate meat a few days less a week, we could have a beneficial impact on greenhouse gas emissions. Why can't everyone try? Why are people too selfish to help the earth?!?
Dexter: New Blood: Cold Snap (2021)
Unrealistic
Come on. As if the albino deer would've let him approach right up like that. Impossible. He should have been holding out food for a tiny bit of plausibility.
Decent episode and start but no way is it a 9.
Modern Love (2019)
Season 1 = Awesome Season 2 = Crap
Loved almost every season 1 episode. Season 2 episodes were either just okay or bad...of which both are a waste of time. Disappointed and did not finish all the episodes.
Modern Love: Strangers on a (Dublin) Train (2021)
Not great
It's a lockdown but cops at a roadblock are not wearing masks. Come. On. (On the bus too). Annoying to invest time to watch a story that doesn't even have an ending. If it had any kind of ending I would've said ok cute and give it 7 but it didn't.
Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008)
Senseless waste of time
Convoluted relationships with everyone sleeping with everyone with really no point. Meaningless waste of time. The high rating shocks me. Juan is such a sleaze-bags. Ugh.
Love, Death & Robots: Ice (2021)
LOVED THE STUNNING VISUALS
The visuals are captivating and, since the art animation is the number one focus, who cares about the fact that the storyline is basic. It's only a 13-min short story. The visuals are a 10/10. The storyline a 7/10.
Made for Love (2021)
Season 1 is weirdly fun
Sometimes a show that doesn't take itself too seriously and is weirdly (sci-fi) fun is entertaining escape from stress. The 3 main characters, Hazel, Byron, Hebert do some really good acting...that made a huge difference in making up for the few cheesy parts (most of the scenes with the nun). I laughed it off or didn't care about it and just let myself be entertained!
Outlander: Eye of the Storm (2017)
Last 15 minutes = extremely far fetched. Most of the episode is full of contrived plot manipulation. Poor writing if this is directly from the book.
Too many coincidences and a completely far fetched survival. Out of the blue a hurricane appears. It is somewhat dark and stormy. Of course Claire 'has' to go on deck because she is a doctor because it wouldn't make sense to treat anyone hurt below deck. Then the cliché struggle on deck until everybody leaves but them. A wave hits and Claire then goes overboard. Somehow the water isn't dark (like the dark grey sky) and Jamie is able to see her or he sees the white sail. Claire's voiceover stated in a foreshadow clip "I was dead" etc. Stupidest plot manipulation ever. Jamie kisses her to probably show he's giving her air. He brings her up and the water is calm (because they're in the 'eye of the storm') and it's magically lighter out. Claire is unconscious or dead...we don't know. The screen pans out to show a MASSIVE eye of the storm.....but yet SOMEHOW they are safely washed up to shore!!! Come. On. Also the 'maybe unconscious or dead' Claire somehow magically starts coughing and comes to...with the cheesy line 'I told you I'd never leave you again'. Insert eye roll here.
This episode is rated far too high! Outlander fans will accept any contrived action apparently.
Why did the show (and probably the book) include the bones of Geillis being studied by Claire's colleague, Joe, in 1968??? With billions of people on earth on any given moment, the bones of a dead woman in Europe are present 200 years later in America. Maybe I missed an explanation for this but it's absurd. Extreme coincidence not to mention how Geillis and Claire keep running into each other. Especially when Claire and Brianna arrive at the EXACT moment she goes into the portal in a previous episode. Anyways, Geillis can't be that significant since now she is dead so what is with the 'fate bringing them together'? Or *sigh* just plot manipulation to create temporary drama to end this season/book.
I Origins (2014)
WATCH THE CLIP AFTER THE CREDITS!!!
Very original. Great acting. Fascinating concepts and innuendos. This is one of those thought provoking movies.
The One (2021)
Not bad. Probably done on a tight budget. Yes the book is always better...but in the instance...considerably better original storylines that were more believable.
The book was fantastic so this was a disappointment. The plot was often contrived. Too many tropes. There was a crime committed near the end that made me roll my eyes...it's only purpose to eliminate someone in a stupid way.
Life Itself (2018)
If you're not a heartless robot, you will like this movie. IT'S SIMPLY AMAZING.
I so wish I could watch this movie again for the first time! I love how this movie so beautifully portrayed the connectedness of life. Fantastic acting and clever writing. Yes the first half hour will make you think it'll be a depressing movie but hang in there....it really is not. Beautiful, special movie.
Big Little Lies (2017)
Once things get going...wow!
Once certain storylines started to develop this show was very addicting for me. I watched it in a few days. Very gripping, emotional performances especially during the last few of the second season. Nicole Kidman is so convincing in her role I can't imagine her otherwise right now. Laura Dern is hilarious. Meryl Streep is hilarious. What a treat this entire cast was together with such a compelling story I will remember for days to come.
Mr. Robot: 407 Proxy Authentication Required (2019)
This episode is perfection. This episode is brilliant.
I didn't understand, in the beginning, the relevance to what was going on...but man, once I did, this episode was very relevant, thought provoking and truly brilliant.
Breaking Bad (2008)
Good but not great
9.5 rating is inflated. This is a solid 8/10 show...not a 9.5. I expected more. The show just left me feeling awful despite the interesting action and plot. Everything goes bad, innocents die, corruption everywhere....not a lot of fun during a pandemic.
Sorry to Bother You (2018)
Awful and stupid
Wow this was really stupid. I had to force myself to keep watching hoping it would redeem itself. It just got worse. You have to be weird and infantile to like a show like this.
Mr. Robot: eps3.4_runtime-err0r.r00 (2017)
One-42min-shot
To film this one-shot episode truly demonstrates their talent. The challenges to filming this in an office that is actually only 1 floor (crews had to recreate the rooms while they were in the elevator!) and full of glass walls that could reflect a camera so camera crews are often laying on the floor filming. While watching I didn't want to pause to pee or even blink! Captivating experience.
Dark (2017)
In awe over Season 3. All 3 seasons = masterpiece
These 3 seasons were like a memory game which was confusing but challenging too. To enjoy this masterpiece just memorize the names and faces for each cycle. Careful not to see internet family trees for a season you haven't watched yet to avoid spoilers. Season 3 is a very satisfying conclusion. Highly recommend to anyone that doesn't mind turning on their brains when they watch a show. Very original, well thought-out plot.
