Fair Exchange (1962)
an oldie but a goodie
Well actually I can't recall how good or bad this series was, but I had a terrible crush on Dennis Waterman's character! It was the start, at age 12, of my love affair with Brits. Would love to re-watch them.
Mary Queen of Scots (2018)
I liked it
Well, I enjoyed watching it anyway (in spite of the reviews!). especially Ronan who is always good. Everyone makes such an issue of the fact that the two never met-hey, artistic license.
Green Book (2018)
Winner of the year
I loved this movie. And yes, I have read the articles about Shirley's family not being pleased. I'm not sure where the truth resides in that issue. But I felt so good throughout this film, and especially at the ending. I wanted to hug both guys. They helped each other become better humans. And Mortensen and Ali were so different but their performances were equally wonderful. (Except for Tony's food scenes, I mean really? And he had such a classy wife.). Oh well, I LOVED it!
Mary Poppins Returns (2018)
Half and half
I read the reviews and am somewhere in-between them all. I mostly enjoyed it but it was too long. Kept wishing I had a kid with me to enjoy it with. I didn't care for the songs, tho was surprised Emily Blunt has such a nice voice. So does the father (Wishaw)-I liked him tho he looked awfully young to have had 3 kids!
I kept waiting for some of the oldies but goodies to make an appearance, songwise. I too like Emily Blunt-she looked great but too serious. I did enjoy the made-up London scenery.
The Favourite (2018)
Hey, go see it if you love disgusting people!
I guess some people just like edgy, disgusting films. If I hadn't been with friends I would have walked out. Yeah, I got it at the end that these three "ladies" are now trapped in horrible worlds of their own making, but really, what was the point of this film??? Great setting and acting but I'd like to ask these actors "WHY?" And please don't go see it if you are an animal lover.
Le temps de l'aventure (2013)
A film for romantics
Loved this movie, though it was frustrating to keep wondering if they were ever going to connect, and if so, stay connected. Well, that was part of the allure of the film. Bryne and Devos were both wonderful. Their attraction to each other was so intense and lovely, both soulful and physical. I loved to watch their faces and know what they were feeling. Never know who you might meet on a train!
