Good idea ruined by terrible writing
27 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The plot of this show is intriguing and despite the claims of "review bombing" from other reviews thats not the case. The shows premise draws you in. A secret agency that stops world ending disasters using time. It's well acted, actions scenes are well done, and genuinely entertaining....until you start watching more.

Man I couldn't make it past the 6th episode that's how bad the writing is. We have a top secret agency that somehow allows relationships between agents creating massive conflicts of interest. Agents can just carry their guns around willy nilly. No cameras to monitor prisoners because they torture them. What? So they can't just oh I don't know turn the cameras off or wipe the footage? A new agent who's an app developer becomes a pro shot with his pistol and super agent within a few weeks of training and convinces the rogue agent to just spill his guts about where a warhead is. Ahahahahha

This guy sets off a nuke by driving 100 yards away and is completely fine. He also somehow has a Russian officials personal phone number. Nothing interesting is remotely explored it's just a guy trying to bring back his wife. Boring waste of a plot.

Rating this a 7 is a crime against humanity.
8 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I'm seriously confused. This film is not good. The most basic plot ever and characters who make the dumbest decisions ever. Are we still doing this? Let's break the stupidity down shall we?

-Woman shows up to a rental property and decides to stay the night with a complete stranger.

-She sees nothing wrong with the delapidated neighborhood and her house being the only well kept one.

-A woman literally tells her not to stay there and somehow this still isn't a red flag.

-Finds creepy hidden passage says "nope" but goes anyway. Brilliant.

-sees obvious torture room with bloody handprint but decides not to leave because random guy she met says not to.

-instead of getting help she ventures even deeper into the creepy lair to help a guy she met THE NIGHT BEFORE.

  • gets caught.

-some other guy finds tunnel after a lengthy set up to get him to house.

-guy ignores every red flag for some odd reason that defies every human instinct.

-cue humanoid monster

You can guess the rest. A 7 is absolutely criminal for this movie and you can argue its a parody/comedy of horror tropes. I'm convinced the average movie goer is just braindead at this point because there is nothing new here in the slightest. You will enjoy this if you enjoy watching characters who probably have the worst decision making skills mankind has ever seen.

So much wasted potential
17 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Man this film had SO potential right up until the actual "twist". It's not that the twist is particularly bad it's just after the reveal of what's "actually" going on the film just doesn't know what it wants to be.

Are we watching a survival horror or apocalyptic sci fi film? Personally I think they should've stuck with the survival horror throughout because they nailed that part. The sci fi stuff is an interesting idea but man it just completely falls flat and comes across as cheesy and almost comedic at times. The acting is pretty solid except after the guy "changes roles". I just couldn't take it serious after that.

The film builds a decent creepy atmosphere but then decides it wants to become "invasion of the body snatchers" halfway through and it just doesn't work. 5/10.

Insultingly stupid
18 August 2022
Ridiculous film. Gore for the sake of gore isn't horror. This film is literally just as much gore and shock onscreen as possible. Also, all the violence is sexual in nature. It's ridiculous.

Not terrible just overhyped
13 August 2022
This movie was alright. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed it but it's been overhyped alot. My main gripe is its pretty predictable. You know who was gonna die and you know who's gonna win. There's other things too like somehow Indians speak perfect modern english, the girl is just typical ridiculously "strong" (plot armor), unnecessary sacrificial death so the girl can take her "rightful" place(yes we get it woman strong too).

I'm just disappointed this seems to be the bar for a 'good' predator film. I mean cmon....a little Indian girl takes on advanced alien killer when Arnold machine gun toting muscle man barely made it out alive. Granted this is about 250+ years earlier...so I'll let it slide I guess.

All in all its predictable, a bit ridiculous, but it has some heart with the characters and the fights are done decently. I'll also add I completely agree with another review that this film franchise as a whole is pretty mediocre and when an okish film like this one comes out it Will be completely overrated. 5.5/10.

Absolutely God awful film
12 August 2022
This is terrible. I don't care if I didn't get it or if there's some message. It's horrible. You call people staring at the camera for an hour acting? If you give this higher than a 1 please seek professional help there are services available.

To the filmmakers please find a different line of work this is not for you that much is obvious. 0.5/10 (.5 for the music.)

It's alright
20 July 2022
Nothing special but still watchable. Acting is solid its just the whole thing was kinda "meh". Wouldn't really call this a thriller either. You can see where this film is going a mile away.

No real explanations of motives or the relation of the phone to Hawkes character but it's specifically said that he "hears" it then that's it. Also, I guess the kids inherited some extra "sense" from their mother? I don't know the phone idea is weak and feels tacked on. Things kinda just happen with no explanation.

Gonna be hard to top

Probably the best series of 22' so far and one of the best shows in the last decade IMO. Pacing, acting, premise it's all there and it all works. I honestly wasn't expecting much going in just a time killer but man what a nice surprise.

I see teens. I turn it off. Also, episode 1 sucked. Tired of teeny bopper dramas where something serious happened. Teens are exhausting to watch, well at least the Hollywood version are.

It's an attempt
24 January 2022
It's ok. Problem here is the interest is up and down. One point it's very intriguing then the next is a long drawn out dinner scene. Also, I'd have to agree with a few others about the acting. It's just.... Off. The male lead is ok but he's essentially playing his character from black box. That's not saying since it seems his range is very... Limited. Its decent for what it is but nothing special.

An annoying repetitive cycle
19 January 2022
Little girl investigates. Girl learns something new but can't go deeper with the investigation because of bad people. Girl gets sad and cries to daddy. Dad whisper comforts her for 20 minutes. Every. Single. Freaking. Episode.

I'm not kidding. Almost every scene has to be some daddy daughter moment. It's ridiculous. The kid cries at the drop of a hat. I can't do it.

Can't take it seriously
20 December 2021
The way the woman is "possessed" is comical at best. Imagine your friend goofing around acting like a possessed person on Halloween. That's about the level of acting we're dealing with here.

Worst movie I ve ever seen
15 December 2021
I'm all for weird stories but this is just plain stupid. It's so stupid it actually becomes funny. Also, the film is boring and filled with endless unnecessary nudity. I just stopped caring half way through. French can't make films bottom line. How this has positive reviews boggles my mind. Truly we have failed when a ridiculous film like this has a single positive. Anyone trying to explain some deeper meaning is an idiot. Worse film I've seen in the last decade. 0/10.

S2 = new levels of bad writing
2 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I didn't think a show could get this bad. S1 already was just decent enough for me to check out S2; but man do I regret it. The characters are unlikable and their little flashbacks are generic and uninteresting. Stupid decision are constantly made that just defy logic. Also, the characters just don't mesh. Are you really telling me these people are "close" after knowing each other for a few weeks at best? What really took me out was the "crazy" woman scenes. You're forcing her to go with you....why??? You leave a mentally disturbed person in your plane alone near the cockpit? LOL ok.

A better Alice in Borderland
1 October 2021
Kind of the same thing as Alice in borderland except the motives, characters, and drama are done much better. I also like that most of the characters are adults with relatable issues. I'm tired of teen drama. Take note Netflix you got a winner here.

Decent film
12 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I thought it was decent. One issue I have is in the film he specifically says they aren't split personalities but more like fractured emotions. Yet it's treated like split personalities. So I guess #8 maps himself to become the "dominant emotion"?? This is the most confusing part of the film for me. Why would one fracture know more or less than another unless they are completely different personalities vs split emotions?

Then again I could be totally off base.

Am I stupid? No this film is just bad.
11 September 2021
First off the cinematography is fantastic, but unfortunately that is the only praise I have for this film. On a surface I get the "deeper" meaning I just think it's poorly conveyed in this film. It honestly feels like a bunch of random things happen, a "test" of sorts from mom?, then it just ends. Random characters show up and nothing is explained.

Hollywood should just quit at this point there is clearly no talent left.

Interesting story but dumb characters
21 July 2021
I like the setting, setting, and don't mind it being slow. However, halfway through it becomes apparent it's slow for the wrong reasons. The characters are just dumb. And they're written dumb just to stretch out the story. All of the things that happening and no one seems to surprised or bothered?

People withhold information for no reason and come to stupid conclusions. Too bad it is interesting but the story just goes in circles with people who aren't written like people.

Good show worth a watch
4 July 2021
First off the plot is the dumbest thing I've seen in a long time. I didn't change my mind even after finishing S1. That said the acting is so good and characters are so likable that they make it work. 7.5/10.

Did they even try on this one?
4 July 2021
To me, as a horror fan, this is about as cookie cutter and boring as horror gets. I knew exactly how the entire film would play out after the first "possession" is shown. Now I didn't wright it off just yet because I liked the previous 2 films, but by the end I knew this film was a dud.

There's just nothing here. The acting and writing are subpar and feel like every other mainstream horror possession film(which are usually bad). My main issue is how Lorraine's "gift" and the "witch's" abilities are more like super powers. It's used as a very lazy tool to keep the plot moving which is HEAVILY relied on in the latter half of the film. Oh and of course you just break something and use the power of love to save the day.

Horror is hard to get right and at this point Hollywood is just cashing in on a successful franchise. 4/10.

S1 is Good S2 is decent
18 October 2020
S1 was great. The acting, storytelling, everything. S2 was decent but I felt it was VERY preachy and I felt the whole arch in S2 was lame. Yes racism is bad we know but making an entire season based on that premise? I also felt like it was a little more predictable and cliche in S2.

Also some of the stories are just boring and I found myself skipping through. All of The Deeps scenes were an insta skip for me. Adds absolutely nothing to the story. Also way to much filler. But theres so much filler because the actual story is paper thin. All in all I feel like this show tries to be different but its actually pretty predictable and they try to throw you "off guard" with gore scenes here and there. S1 = 8. S2 = 6.5.

Ridiculous drama
8 October 2020
I'm American and never heard this story before and after watching this I still don't care. Something about Russia and a professional woman crying at the drop of a hat because 2 people were poisoned. By the way she behaved you'd think the town was wiped out by Corona virus. No a few people get sick and it's boring as hell to watch.
