Star Trek: Picard (2020)
Maybe it's a rule that you should like it.
I can't bring myself to write anything bad about the show and, yes, I will watch season 3. Although, I will watch it out of absence of duty rather than anything else. Season 1 was quite watchable, season 2 not so much and there are lots of paradoxical events that don't work with what has gone before (or rather, what we know of what will come in the TNG universe). Do these events (Paradox's), including Wesley mean that all we knew is now wrong?
The Man Who Fell to Earth: The Man Who Sold the World (2022)
Please let there be more
A great show, loved every bit of it. The cast, the plot lines, the story and the cinematography all worked and even the David Bowie soundtrack was a fitting nod and tribute to the great man too.
I do hope there is a second season planned soon.
Cloud Atlas (2012)
Started with a 9 then changed my mind to give. 10/10
Lots of reviewers using words and phrases like pretentious, ambitious or self indulgent. And since opinion is personal and individual prescription is your own reality, all of those views and others may well be true from the perspective of those individuals.
From my perspective, it was a challenging watch for sure, but I thought it was bloody brilliant and I'm so glad I watched it. The stories are intertwined and invite us all to consider the true meaning of kindness, humanity, humility and love.
Don't over think it, do take a break, consider your audio and just enjoy a brilliant set of yarns weaving themselves together to a great overall close with Mr Hanks and Ms Berry.
Utopia (2020)
Not a patch on the 2013 / 14 version
Really poor copy of the original. Not even a re-write even to the point of choosing actors that look like the original cast. The British C4 version was a masterpiece this is a good reason to stop watching and find the original.
Tales from the Loop (2020)
Beautifully done
Loved it and can't wait for more. Thought provoking, well structured and brilliantly shot story telling. Yes, the pace might feel a little bit slow but it takes you on an emotional journey that keeps you engaged across every episode and like any form of art - the "beholder" sees, feels and finds their own values within.
In terms of value - my prime subscription is more than justified.
The New Pope (2020)
Absolutely brilliant
I was so looking forward to this sequel to The Young Pope and it turns out it's even better than I hoped. The characters are brilliantly portrayed, the storyline is gripping, the soundtrack deserves an award and I can't wait to see what's coming after 9/9. Think I might just have to sleep until it airs and I hope it's already in production. Really really really gutted that's there's only 9 episodes. Might just watch them all again.
Come back soon!
Ps. Thanks to all involved
