Smoke Bumming (1994)
Splendid short film
This film brings back many memories, since attending the university that this film was made at. A lot has changed since then, and seeing the old layout is great. The main actor in this film is fantastic, as a man hooked on what has become the poison of many individuals, demon nicotine. The need for nicotine and a puff of cigarette draws some people to great lengths. Considering the low budget, I would say that the film makers did a great job pulling it together. Good sound and editing also helps move this short along. Good old fashion college movie making at its best. I would definitely recommend this film to anyone who likes shorts, on a shoestring budget. ****
Waitress! (1982)
Early Troma Comedy Masterpiece
This film is so full of sight gags and comedy madness, that it will take multiple viewings to catch them all. The film brilliantly captures the world of New York City restaurants, and the many people working as wait staff workers, trying to break into show business. This film has gratuitous breasts, and farting, enough to cause major laughs. As far as a time capsule, this film has many shots showing "old New York City" which is fun to see. Look for a very young Chris Noth in a tiny bit part. Kaufmann has done it again, delivered a masterpiece on a small budget thus proving the point that anyone can make their own damn movie. ****
Sudden Fury (1975)
Not Bad, Nice Scenery
Gay Rowan was a very good actress, I liked her in the TV show, The Starlost, with Keir Dullea. She seems to have stopped acting around 1984. Ms. Rowan gives a stellar performance in this film as the mistreated wife. This film is suspenseful all the way, and never gets boring. The farmers wife, played by Hollis Mclaren is an absolute hottie. Big on action, paranoia, and diabolical lunacy. Well made for a low budget film from the mid 1970's. The husband played by Dominic Hogan is a complete nut job. The costumes in the film are so 1970's they need to make a comeback. Hogans three piece suit is great. Though not a masterpiece, I give this an 8 out of 10.
