Black Mirror: Mazey Day (2023)
Simpsons did it first
Simpsons fans have already seen this episode before. This is just a much longer, less funny treehouse of horror. Unfortunately Mazey Day forgot to put the fog lights in. It's entertaining, and does make you think. However, none of the characters are like able, except maybe the waiter. Definitely not your typical black mirror episode, but a decent watch. It was kind of ruined though because I couldn't stop thinking about the treehouse of horror with Flander's night walks, and how stupid it would be if the episode went in the same direction. I was disappointed at first when the reveal happened, because it literally ripped off the Simpsons, but the ending was actually pretty decent.
Vita & Virginia (2018)
Great acting but no story
I love Elizabeth Debicki, so I gave this movie a shot. The acting and sets and costumes were excellent, and the only reasons I even rated it a 5. The script, editing, and music were awful. The music was nice actually, but did not at all belong in this movie, and was just one little piece played on repeat.
The worst thing about this was that I was entirely aware that I was watching a movie the whole time. I never felt like I was welcomed into the film. I didn't get drawn in or attached to the characters or story. It was like one long boring soap opera episode you'd find on a Wednesday afternoon.
PEN15 (2019)
Excellent balance of comedy and real life
I started this show expecting it to be similar to Big Mouth, but it is much different, in a good way. This is a fantastic show that very accurately depicts the hilarity and awkwardness of growing up. It definitely is not only a comedy show, and features very important and serious themes and issues. I would recommend adding "drama" to the description of the show. It is equally hilarious and heartfelt, and is one of the "realest" shows I've ever seen.
Black Mirror: Hated in the Nation (2016)
Annoyingly predictable
This was a decent episode with a good message but was entirely predictable which led to it being boring and a bit silly.
As the detectives figure things out with shocked looks you in turn are shocked that they are just making these realizations.
Also the ending was cliche and unnecessary. One of the only episodes of this series that didn't really make me think.
