Pursuit (2022)
Cusack Sucks...Duh
They spent more on Ribeyes than anything else in this movie.
There is a bright spot. Elizabeth Ludlow is a rising star. She brings a much needed gravitas to this movie. All of her non verbal acting is terrific. He dialogue is good as well but the writing is so terrible that it's hard to make it all work. Plus the editing is atrocious. Elizabeth has been in 2 other roles that she was outstanding in.
Emile Hirsch plays a pretty good smart ass. As always.
Jake Manley might be just a bit too pretty for such a gritty role. He was not terrible. Again, the dialogue and editing was so bad.
It kind of had a Brian DePalma feel, but the story and editing were just fatally bad.
Oh yeah, and cusack sucks!!!
Designated Survivor: Party Lines (2017)
STOPPPPP!!!
Stop preaching. For God's sake stop preaching. Gun control? Really?
I Am Mother (2019)
Very good
This is the 'St George and the Dragon' story only with women. It's a great and fundamental story. It is retold in many different ways. This was a compelling way and well acted. Of course, as with any story you must suspend disbelief from time to time which includes overlooking some holes. Which btw, is true for every sci-fi movie ever.
Manifest (2018)
My favorite hate watch
Tragically bad acting. Terrible dialogue. A silly storyline, and a "Lost" wanna be attitude. Maybe it's more about directing or editing but damn is it terrible. But I watch it to hate on it.
Westworld (2016)
Season 2 unnecessarily complicated
Seaason 2 took much too long to reveal itself. And when it did, it felt like a cheat. It wasn't necessary to flip between so many memories between so many characters. I understand the purpose but it just didn't payoff in the end. The reveal wasn't big enough to justify all the confusion. Exploring dimensions of consciousness and relating that to a virtual world is not as novel as the writers seem to think it is. 'Altered Carbon' does this in a much more interesting way without as much confusion. And, the payoff is worth the flashbacks. Maybe they need to bring Ron Howard in to save this too.
Lost in Space (2018)
Better than expected
This got better and better with each episode. The casting is really good. There is real talent here.
My complaint is that I'd prefer it were less campy and more "realistic". This includes less formulaic storylines and tension points. But it is a bit of a throwback and I'm okay with that, as little big as it doesn't get more campy.
Hilarity for Charity (2018)
WTF?
It's like he had a party for his friends and sycophants and recorded it. Every character that walked off stage couldn't get out of there fast enough. Barely a handshake. Another example of crap people doing crap work, attaching it to a charity so they can feel go about themselves.
