The Fall of the House of Usher (2023)
Wasted potential, so far
When my wife told me this would be an adaptation of Edgar Allen Poe, I was excited, and even throughout the first 2 episodes I was somewhat interested but by the fourth episode the series lost me. The sex scenes were disconnected from the story and felt forced and unnecessary, seriously, it seemed like the writers didn't believe that the plot was engaging enough without them. Speaking of plot, it could have been a great mystery trying to find out who the mole/informant was and figuring out if one of them was the killer, but I feel like the show missed the boat on this one, as the ghost(?) aspect felt kind of boring after a while and also very preachy, like jesus can you kill the guy already instead of wasting my time lecturing him about cats. Anyway, I felt the dialogue was awful, the character's motivations were blend, so I wouldn't recommend, sorry.
Daylight (1996)
Tl,dr, enjoyable experience.
Pretty good movie overall. The characters are interesting enough and have a great dynamic in the first two acts of the movie. The first act is cool, Aragorn is a promising character and then he simply dies in the middle of the act, I wish they kept him longer as it would've been nice to see him acting beside Sylvester, his inclusion in the movie seemed like a ploy to get more viewer, however I don't know how famous he was before LOTR.
The female lead feels more than just an afterthought as she has a backstory and an interesting hero's journey. In fact, most supporting characters have plenty to do, George is my favorite, I wish he'd live longer.
Overall, enjoyed the exp.
Final Space (2016)
It's a great show
In short, the show is great, the animations are very creative and colorful, it has many elements of Olan Roger's previous show and also a lot of references, (btw I believe the episodes are still on youtube).
Although it is a Sci-fi show, and it does delve into existential questions, so, naturally a lot of people may think it is like Rick and Morty, there are a lot of comparisons online, but they're to different shows, very different.
There are some really respectable choices Olan makes in the story, and the characters are really engaging, unfortunately there are only a few episodes, but, there may be a 2nd season.
Anyway, I highly recommend it.
Birdemic: Shock and Terror (2010)
Guide to an Enhanced Watching Experience
So here, I'm gonna tell you how to truly experience this masterpiece on a transcendental level.
Birdemic is one of those movies which are so extremely bad that it ends up being funny, the production quality, cinematography, audio, acting, and pretty much all about it is so bad that it makes up for a great movie to watch with drunk friends, even more if you enjoy subjecting them to excruciating pain and despair, I mean the film is basically and established joke nowadays so there's no point on me talking much about it.
So here are the steps:
1st: get some friends, they're essential to the understanding of this monumental work of a mind so advanced we can't understand it yet.
2nd: Get as drunk as you possibly can, this way you will be able to get passed the first 2 seconds
3rd: watch your friends slowly starting to hate you as the movie goes on.
and that's about it.
Buster's Mal Heart (2016)
Good Film, watch it, or don't, idk
The film has an incredible cinematography, the story is very engaging, but sometimes a bit confusing, but engaging nonetheless, it always keeps you guessing at whats going on, and I feel like it leaves a lot to interpretation.
There are some scenes in the film on which I was left wondering what the hell is going on, as Jonah makes some decisions that were at the very least weird, but that are somewhat explained throughout the film, there is a point in where you're like oh, okay, I get it, I don't wanna spoil anything here, and there are clues throughout the film that leads to that conclusion if you pay attention, so that made it a little bit predictable, but it doesn't ruin the experience, overall it was a great film and I recommend it.
