Love and Monsters (2020)
Light and super charming
It starts a bit meh, once he gets out of the bunker it really gets going and the movie won me over the rest of the way. The story itself it's not too deep and the CGI could be a bit better (the choice with lighting didn't help the animators on a very ambitious movie) but the charme and feel good vibe compensates and makes the movie for me. I would absolutely watch a sequel.
Invincible: We Need to Talk (2021)
the best comics have to offer
It's starts of great, and once everything kicks in it doesn't let you breathe for a second, I don't remember the last time a TV episode made me feel so glued to the screen. This episode is a masterpiece.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021)
I already forgot the villain" name
Terrible villain, childish motivation with no sort of plan and we have no idea why anyone follows her. Didn't mind the zemo change at all, still one of the characters I relate to a lot and so I didn't mind the lighter tone. Bucky had a good arc, I enjoyed all the wakanda stuff, power broker was too predictable I thought. Falcon was a bit of mix because it was a bit too woke for me but in general I still enjoyed his arc. Oh, and fake cap was fine, I liked how he finishes the series and what they could do with him. And Marvel, learn how to do final episodes, please.
Bad Trip (2021)
it's Eric Andre?
If you never heard of him you probably won't even watch it. If you know and like him you'll love it. It has hilarious bits, the concept is original and new to me but definitely works. I just thought it was a good time. Give a try, I think you'll know if it's something for you in first 15 minutes.
Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu (2021)
better than this genre usually offers
First of all, is it pervy? Off course it is, it's an anime, and it's 40 year old guy in a boys body, everything he does will be questionable, but compared to basically 80% of other animes it isn't even that bad. If you can get over that, than its an anime that actually has some depth that this genre never has, it doesn't rush the plot, the mc doesn't always make the right choice and is far from perfect but doesn't annoy you because you understand his thought process.
So if you're sensitive don't watch it, if you're used to most animes I would highly recommend it.
Gokushufudo (2021)
I have no idea why or how they made this
I don't think it will be for everyone but it's hilarious. The art style, the pace and humour are so unique, if you wanna have a laugh for a couple of hours it's perfect. I hope they make more and keep it short, this compact format is perfect.
Mirai nikki (2011)
could be so much better if...
You want to know why it's not a 9? It has the worse main character I've ever seen. I just want to punch his face every two minutes. Other than that it's great.
Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)
there's a great movie in here somewhere
Where to begin... the reason for the conflict between the two is given in the first 10 min and I guess it works in a dumb monster movie, I would say all the scenes with Kong and Godzilla are great, amazing CGI and even did a better job showcasing their primitive emotions than the previous movies. Now the people... why? I don't understand why they think they have to be funny all the time, I want to see the monsters punch eachother, I want to see the aftermath, I want to see people who think Kong is a hero and people who think he should die at all cost, what I don't want to see is a Alex Jones type who is so dumb he wouldn't even have a degree in anything, let alone blend in a top notch company like a superspy, I also don't want to see two kids impossibility fumble their way through the movie just so they can explain the movie to me or say dumb jokes or have no impact in the overall movie whatsoever. It's just frustrating that if you remove all the humans, that besides the Kong's girl are all nothing or horrible characters, you get maybe 40 min of a great movie.
Also don't think about the hollow earth theory and how they present it. If you think about the physics of it you'll wonder if a 9 year old wrote the script.
Jujutsu Kaisen (2020)
just amazing
The animation and intro are just perfect. Main character is appealing and relatable. One of the best uses of an OP character I've seen. Amazing fight scenes and a well built universe that keeps you interested. Is a must watch for any anime fan and I would even say that it is a good starter for anyone looking to enter the genre.
Great Pretender (2020)
great watch
Great show, good characters, different stories keep it compelling, you will not regret watching it (if you saw black lagoons is a better version of that I think)
WandaVision (2021)
definitely worth the watch
If you don't count the last episode I think it's great (they either rushed it or didn't really know how to end in a TV budget)
the format is great, the writing is great and if you are a marvel nerd it gives enough Easter eggs to keep you hipped, just enjoy it not expecting anything like endgame
Unhinged (2020)
it's fine?
You won't be impressed, you will get griped at some points, but it's just mediocre
Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021)
you fanboys are crazy...
Is it bad? I don't think so. is it that much better than the other version? absolutely not. is it way too longer than it has to be for no good reason? you can bet your ass it is.
Toy Story 4 (2019)
Amazing that they could pull this off
First off all, I genuinely haven't laughed at a movie like this in a long time (wait for the Key and Peele bits). Now with the review, I can understand that some can criticize that there aren't many "stakes" in the story, it's basically armless unlike the previous movie, but it is still fun, it builds the characters and it stays true to them. Give it a shot because it is absolutely worth it, you will never find it to be just average in my opinion.
Suits (2011)
it's great
I would say until the end of season 4 is a 10, but I binge watched season 8 and don't even want to watch season 9.
One of the best pilots I've seen, could be a movie on its own. The series is compelling from the start, you care for all characters, they're witty and smart and make for the most part relatable decisions. The romance doesn't overlap the main story which I liked and you see the people change and develop.
When someone goes to a certain bad place (don't want to spoil if someone hasn't watched) the series becomes too serious, characters start making weird decisions just to create conflict. By season 8 there is almost nothing there, the interest for what is going to happen next just disappeared for me. That's why as a whole I can't give it more than 8.
It's a must watch for sure.
White Lines (2020)
It's fine
I'm Portuguese and so my opinion is a bit biased based on the casting, but it doesn't deserve the one star ratings you see. It ain't a masterpiece but there are characters you care about and it's well shot Just give it a chance.
