Proof (2015)
Good from start to finish.
I really liked this. At the beginning I thought Jennifer Beals might be too young and pretty to play the lead but I was wrong. She is a strong actress and very convincing as both a skeptic and a real person. Her daughter is believable as a teenager (what a vulnerable time of life) who is having to live with tragedy, as well as a breaking home. Like any American of her age and social environment, she's a little spoiled and not coping well with her circumstances. The young Dr. from Kenya, is believable and entertaining. He balances humor with intelligence. The billionaire's character is portrayed correctly too, authoritative, manipulating and determined. The story holds together well, I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.
Poldark (2015)
This is a spoiler. I'm not too thrilled with this.
There are too many unexplained holes in this. How did he get back to Cornwall? When Poldark had the fight with the kitchen maid's father, it was hard to believe the awful brothers would just gather up their father and leave. After 3 years, the two slothful "caretakers" are still there ALONG WITH, all the valuable family treasures; they don't come across as that virtuous and how were they living for 3 years as they were. Were they Rip Van Winkle people? In my humble opinion, Elizabeth is pretty weak. Personally, I think she's getting tiresome. .I'm going to try it again next week, hoping it holds together better. On the plus side, Poldark is very handsome and comes across as normal and decent. Considering how hard it can be, sometimes, to understand very broad English accents in some of the British shows for those of us in America, the audio and dialogue here is clear and understandable. The scenery and costuming are great.
