Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
All the right ingredients.
I was conflicted before seeing this movie as the reviews were split down the middle. I am a die-hard fan having seen A New hope in 1977 at 12 years old.
My wife and I were talking on the way to see this movie and we agreed that if we go in with the mindset similar to a James Bond movie that is the criteria. In explanation, the core values of James Bond has to be a part of the actors play otherwise you dont have a 007 movie. So in going to see the movie there has to be the flair, arrogance, scheming, charm, daring, look and mannerisms of Han solo to pull this off.
This movie has all of those in the right places, so much so I only saw Han on screen and not the actor. There is the issue, we have all become so enamored with Harrison ford it is, as it was for me, difficult to get past that. However, the movie did it.
Go see it for yourself and decide.
Suicide Squad (2016)
See it for yourself, a must movie for DC comic fans.
Go see this movie. It plays like a DC comic strip.
Brief backgrounds of characters, excellent action scene's and Margo's Harley Quinn was perfect and funny. Some of the poor reviews show how many 'critics' have no true understanding of genre movies.
I am 50 years old and have been going to the cinema/theater since i was 11 years old. I have over 300 movies in my personal collection.
It is a movie for DC comic fans and I can see what the director did here, general movie goers because of general movie formats probably wont like it. Im glad the movie played to 'die hard'comic fans because movies that try to do both, fail miserably. If the movie is so bad, how is it making good money at the box office?
I am not easily convinced or entertained with movies and I have walked out of some, the 1999 Inspector Gadget movie for instance. I give this movie an 8/10, would have been a 9, only because it could have had another 30mins of possible background or plot development and more 'Joker' time. I am going to see it a second time in 3D.
Sinbad (2012)
disappointing and disconnected
I am a fantasy fan and have seen the original movies of Sindbad. They were set in his later years and this show sets him in his outset as a pirate and adventurer, so I was open minded and intrigued to watch.
However, by episode four of series one, I lost interest in the characters. In episode three one of the crew, who by now should have bonded as crew and seem to previously, robs the crew and runs for it, only later to be taken back on board.
It is apparent as this series only ran for one season that what I am reviewing was on the minds of many watchers. Oh and its a BBC production, one of their worst, sadly I am a Brit.
If you have no concept of Sinbad, have never watched a movie or read a book I imagine you could watch the whole series.
