AGT Extreme (2022)
Fan of AGT but....
This just felt like Simon set up his friend to win. What a joke, there are cage riding motorcycles all over the place and they shouldn't even have gotten a golden buzzer never mind top 4 or top 2 with a dude who used to be a motorcycle guy but now is a wheelchair jumper... meanwhile, real talent just dismissed. After they announce too 2 I shut it off as the other acts in the top 4 were at least 10x more talented, more extreme, and more entertaining.
Robin Hood (2018)
Enjoyable Reboot
I'm not sure why there is all the negative reviews, but I'll address why. I think there are so many. While it's not an amazing movie, it's certainly a good movie that honors the story. It's not the same old same old story most Robin Hood movies show with the band hanging out in Sherwood Forrest occasionally raiding. Instead, it focuses on the origin story of Robin Hood, perhaps setting up for more movies. Additionally, if your sensitive to attacks on Christianity you may be offended as the "church" plays a role as the villain.
Alpha (2018)
Kids have to read subtitles to watch the movie
First of all, I just noticed Morgan Freeman credited as the narrator. No one in my family recalls any narration in the film; so, they must've decided not to use his material. That was probably a mistake as when we saw it, I could hear several parents in the audience reading or explaining the dialogue which is all in an unknown language. So, my recommendation for those of you with small kids is to wait and see it at home.
That said, after skimming through a few other reviews it is interesting how others interpreted the movie and that's because this movie is wide open for it. For example, I don't recall the film ever saying it was in Europe and to me it had a very North North America feeling. But that doesn't really matter.
Where I think they failed in telling the story is mostly surrounding the passing of time. I was unclear how far the hunters traveled to go to the hunt, but it felt like a one day journey. However, his return home feels like a month. That along with the several 'that could never happen' scenes kind of ruined it for me.
Mile 22 (2018)
Shut up Jimmy
I went in with super low expectations and they were almost met. The character, Jimmy Silva kills anything that may have made this movie entertaining. His constant yelling, badgering, bullying, and fast talking ramblings are so annoying that you'll leave the movie wanting a drink.
Ocean's Eight (2018)
What's with all the negativity?
If I were to compare it to the other Ocean's movies, I'd rank this as the second best amongst them all. It's your classic heist movie with wit and humor done really well with an amazing cast. Not sure what others were expecting to lambast it or the female casting so harshly.
Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
Just an awful waste of 2.5 hours
I don't typically write reviews; however, someone needed to balance out the over the top love for this bad plotted film with way too many stars. For me, it all comes down to this question:
"Can this movie stand alone without having seen at least 75% of the other Marvel movies?" The answer is NO!
I know I've seen most of Marvel's movies (loved Black Panther) but I think to enjoy this film you have to be a serious Marvel fan. Even with as many of the Marvel movies that I've seen, I still didn't have enough back story or character recognition to pull together this plot which seemed to me to just be an excuse to have CGI battles over and over.
Then, to make matters worse, it's sooo looong. Add to that, that I need to see a sequel to see how this story ends and I hate it - 1 star out of 10 - done and done.
