Significant Other (2023)

We thought it was alright after realising it's more of a Black Comedy than the standard British fair

Some others have said it's a bit slow, depressing and not that funny, and their opinion is valid for them.

We had to give the characters a bit of a chance to grow on us to appreciate this, what turns out to be more of black comedy.

It's not the standard style British humour we expected, and after watching I read that it's based on an Israeli comedy "Kacha Ze" loosely translated as 'it is what it is'.

So there's the reason for a difference in comedy style.

Although it started off a bit slow, we really got into the characters as the episodes played.

We watched the whole season of 6 episodes over 2 evenings, they were under half an hour each, and could really empathise with the characters and started to really enjoy the style of humour and then it finished way too quickly.

We would like to see a season 2 but don't know if there are any plans.

Takers (2010)

Just couldn't get into this.

The wife & I liked the previews and wanted to get into it, but after a while, with all their flashy vehicles and ongoing classy wardrobe ... we felt it became very unrealistic. Some 20 odd minutes into the movie, they're all sitting around discussing another friend's release from prison and they're dressed to the nines .... well we turned it off & watched something else.

To us it just came across as over flashy self indulgences and very false.

I'm not sure if my description is much of a spoiler, but I ticked "spoiler" just in case ... But if you like that sort of "cool tough guy" thing, this is full of it (pun intended) Cheers - Ted & Rosie 🌹

Zone 414 (2021)

We liked this one :-)

While viewing, it was very "Blade Runner" like but without the budget.

Overall very enjoyable if you forgive some of the shortcomings LOL Travis Fimmel's lines and make-up, I can't work out what the director/producers were thinking,

7/10 from us.

Welcome to Willits (2016)

It's not that bad at all

We gave this a go, so often there are a lot of movies with low(ish) ratings and people may skip over these.

It starts off feeling a bit weak, sure the actors &/or director/s are not stars, yet forgiving some of these shortcomings the plot is actually very serious and is being built from the beginning.

It gets seriously creepy further in.

We enjoyed it as a late night movie with some snacks :-)

Jiu Jitsu (2020)

It's not that bad at all !!

It starts off a bit slow, we were almost about to give up. But don't. It all becomes clear soon, and then it's very interesting. Shades of a familiar theme (no spoilers) which if you like Sci-Fi and defending Earth type action you'll appreciate. Sadly, it's no stunner, but if you persevere through the confusing, dare I say a bit much where everybody with MMA/Jiu Jitsu seems to fight, this becomes a reasonable movie. Take it as it is for a bit of Sci-Fi entertainment :-)
