Surprisingly Good
16 March 2017
I was skeptical about seeing Kong: Skull Island. I thought it was going to suffer the same fate as the 2014 Godzilla movie with the stupid melodrama. This movie succeeded where Godzilla failed. It was a brutal movie about humans trying to escape a savage world of giant creatures in which they don't belong. The film had enough humour. It didn't overdo it and it wasn't trying to be too serious as some other monster movies. (Godzilla.) Overall Kong: Skull Island is a solid step forward for the MonsterVerse. I can't wait to see what comes next.

Masterpiece
16 March 2017
Pan's Labyrinth is a dark, enchanting and charming film set in Spain during a civil war. There are moments of terror in this not for kids flick. The practical effects in this film are top notch. The monsters are visually amazing and serve their purpose. There is a certain scene with a monster that really just makes you shiver. The acting, dialogue and plot are all great. I don't have a single bad thing to say about this work of art. Recommended to anyone above the age of 15.

Logan (2017)

Favourite Superhero Movie
4 March 2017
I wasn't really excited seeing Logan. I went in expecting just another generic X-men movie. What I got was far beyond my expectations. In my opinion this is Hugh Jackman's best performance and also his last as Wolverine. The directing was great especially during the tense and action-packed fight scenes. The movie had a number of epic and thrilling scenes with a few touching and sad moments. It was good to see Patrick Stewart come back as Professor X. It was a great send off for the character Wolverine. Overall, Logan is a thrilling action-packed ride with sad moments and a ton of gore. Recommended for people that aren't afraid to see a little blood.

Really entertaining film.
2 October 2016
This remake of the classic western film is an action-packed ride worth seeing on the big screen. The action scenes are really engaging and intense. I haven't seen the original so I don't know how much the plot changes but it can't be by that much.

Director Antoine Fuqua proves once again that he can direct a good action movie.

Denzel Washington, Ethan Hawke and Chris Pratt were excellent in their roles as the heroes. The whole film is entertaining and fun.

Overall, The Magnificent Seven is a solid western film with enough action to entertain everyone although too violent for young children.

Gravity Falls (2012–2016)

Gravity Falls - Review
20 July 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Gravity Falls is one of the best animated shows I have ever seen if not the best. The characters are really good and the story is creative. I am proud to say I am a Gravity Falls fan and I hope they'll make a third season. This show has really good messages and great twists. Best to watch spoiler free. The finale was really well done but I was left with unanswered questions. And that's one of the things about Gravity Falls. There's a lot of mysteries and things in this show. It's hard for me to choose a favorite character because they're all really great. If I had to I'd pick Grunkle Stan because he's awesome. He's also the funniest character in my opinion with all his scams. Gravity Falls is enjoyable for audiences of all ages and is a well made animated show that will be loved for years to come.

X-Men Apocalypse - Review
2 June 2016
Warning: Spoilers
X-Men Apocalypse is the 4th superhero movie to come out this year and it's my personal favorite so far. It's also my favorite X-Men movie. To me it was what an X-Men movie should be. One of my criticisms of this movie is the way Apocalypse died. I mean, he can turn people into sand or whatever or does that not work on mutants? You can't really make a villain too powerful without it being stupid. Then again that's just my opinion. The Wolverine cameo was nice but it wasn't needed. The whole Striker thing just felt forced and unnecessary. The acting, CGI and action scenes were good. Seeing cities being destroyed was really cool. I recommend watching X-Men Apocalypse. It's a really good superhero film and can be enjoyed by everyone.

Transformers: Age of Extinction - Review
25 May 2016
Warning: Spoilers
It's a Michael Bay movie, what did you expect? Transformers: Age of Extinction had me looking at my watch for most of the film. The only watchable scenes were the action sequences but even those were utter garbage. The characters are so 2-dimensional they might as well be paper cutouts. Hell, even paper cutouts would be more convincing. The plot is stupid and dragged out to make more screen time and the dialogue is cringe-worthy. This movie makes hardly any sense at all, it's just a jumble of CGI and explosions with big robots. It's probably one of the worst films I have seen. Do I recommend Transformers: Age of Extinction? No, no I do not. It may be 'fun', but it's pointless. The CGI is pretty good but that's about it. Watch at your own risk of brain cells getting killed.

The Jungle Book - Review
23 May 2016
Warning: Spoilers
The Jungle Book is a remake of the Disney classic from 1967, it's one of the only remakes I've seen to actually improve on the original. Mowgli (Neel Sethi), is a boy that was raised by wolves in the jungle. When Shere Khan threatens to kill him he must leave the wolf pack and go to the 'man village'. Along the way he meets an array of animals from a massive snake to a Gigantopithecus. The effects were spectacular. The animals in The Jungle Book are some of the best I have ever seen. The voice acting was also really good. Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley and Idris Elba were all great choices. Do I recommend The Jungle Book? Yes. The Jungle Book stays true to the source material and is enjoyable for people of all ages. It has a few scenes that may be scary for younger viewers but that doesn't take away from the enchanting visuals and style of the film.

WarCraft: The Beginning - Review
22 May 2016
I actually thought this film would be bad. Like most other video game movies I thought this was going to be a massive flop and just suck. This movie broke the video game movie curse with style. WarCraft surprised me even though I am a WarCraft fan.

If there are sequels WarCraft could easily be this generations equivalent of The Lord of the Rings. The acting was great, the effects were spot on and the action was epic. I was really impressed with the motion capture on the orcs, they looked amazing. Travis Fimmel as Anduin Lothar was a good choice. He did a really good job of portraying the lion of Stormwind. WarCraft has a lot of lore that could easily be made into a film series and I think this film did a good job of establishing the world of WarCraft for future sequels. Do I recommend watching WarCraft? Yes, WarCraft is a movie everyone can enjoy, although it may be too intense and violent for younger children. If you were a fan of the games there are Easter eggs for you. If you have never heard of WarCraft you will be amazed by the world and want more.
